New trades soon. Belfour has to go, guess I'm going to Turco or Vokoun. And I need to pick up Bertuzzi...hrm. Would really like to upgrade J Blake, but I'm having moneyproblems.

I'm all maxed out, and I love my current team. No real trades planned as I intend holding my Col guys, and Vancouver has still has the 3 in 4.

Went back into Tanguay, and am keeping my 4 trades. All my players except Datsyuk/Lidstrom/Macinnis have 4 games this week, and I don't like anyone else for Datsyuk. (Lidstrom/Mac are holds the rest of the way.)

I'll be using 3 of my trades getting out of my 3 PHI guys on the 2nd. (Only 2 games in the final 5 days. I can do better than that. :)

Were going to get new trades on April 2nd as well right?

Yes. But I meant I was going to trade my Phi guys before the freeze, and get someone who plays Wednesday too.

Tough decision here... Who would you rather have this week?

1) Heatley: NJ, at Nash, at NYR, at Buf

2) Amonte: Bos, Pit, at Pit, CBJ

I can keep one of these guys, the other goes for Bertuzzi. Heatley is the more obvious choice, but he faces Brodeur and Vokoun, whereas Amonte gets 4 cakewalk teams. (And he's lit up Pittsburgh like a Christmas tree this year.)

Pittsburgh is tough, they are a very strong team, with clearly the intensity and talent of a team that can totally outplay and outscore the highest paid team in the NHL, the NY Rangers. I would stasy away from this opposition.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! My rangers SUCK. Seeya Sather (another one bites the dust).

I hear ya walk. It supposed to be Mtl-NYR in the Eastern final. Original Six! The rivalry! The history! Instead, we get TB and Minnesota in the playoffs. Its just not right I tells yahz!

At least baseball is right around the corner. I can root for my... Expos.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Sakic > ?

Thinking about picking up Yashin as he has been on fire, to bad all his A+ performance games are likely to be over. 10 pts in 3 games would have been nice.

I'm holding Sakic... It's been hard watching him not score, but I keep telling myself that next game will be the big one... It was meant to be a differentiation pick from Forsberg, so far it hasn't worked out, but I'm holding anyway, to see if it balances out by the end of the season...

But he better come through for you, bookie, because if not, you can blame not winding up in the top 25 on Joe (and I aint too thrilled about his performance on our Yahoo! team as well. Motherficker).

Angst. Okay, maybe this will stir up some discussion:

I have Naslund & Bertuzzi, like some others. After their back to back this weekend, they have 2 games down the stretch (including a game on the last day of the season, my b-day, April 6th). Many other teams have 4 games. I figure on selling the both of them on April 1 and replacing them with, with, with ... well two of the following:

Shanahan, Amonte, Tanguay, Heatley, Iginla, or Murray. I have perused the schedules, and am quite torn about which pair of wingers to acquire. For example, Amonte has easier opponents than Heatley, but Dany is arguably the hottest forward in the game. Iginla has two very weak opponents at home and is back and capable, as any player in the game, of scoring 4 goals in a single match. Shanny has two easy games, a hot team, and a lot to play for (playoff position). Tanguay is on the best line in the league the second half of the season, a hot team, some easy games, ... and blah blah blah.

I also have one other personal issue: on each team I have a cheap center that I would also want to upgrade, so that means buying only ONE expensive wing (e.g. Murray, Shanny, Iginla) and ONE medium-priced winger (e.g. Amonte, Heatley, Tanguay). I have two teams with identical rosters (except for the cheap center, Smolinksi on one and Blake on the other). I am torn between Thornton, Demitra and Federov as the center upgrade.

My thoughts:

Monday, April 1

Team A -- Naslund & Bertuzzi for Murray and Tanguay. Smolinski for Thornton.

Team B -- Naslund & Bertuzzi for Shanahan and Heatley. Blake for Federov.

I welcome any of your thoughts about these winger and center acquisitions.

thx,

One thing I like about picking up Bruins for Canucks is that they have 4 games while the Canucks have 1, and then end 1 night early, which allows you to go back to Bertuzzi/Naslund for the last game of the season.

However, the Bruins are playing some VERY good defensive teams in that period.

So I'm kind of torn myself!

I'm planning on going Bertuzzi --> Iginla tomorrow. You get 3 extra games that way.

I haven't decided yet, but will likely go Bertuzzi -> someone with a B2B. After that, I can go into someone who has a 3 in 5. I can spend as much as I want for the B2B player, but the 3 in 5 needs to be cheap enough to let me afford Turco -> ?, since Dallas plays only once in the last 4 days.

I too have a cheapie center, but his name is Datsyuk and he got me over 100 TSNP today. :) Detroit also has a good schedule, except for a two day hole. (They play in 3 of the last 4 days.) So I'm holding him for the year.

I already have Amonte and Tanguay, and would recommend either.

Heatley looks like a good pickup for the last two days of the season. However, right after the Vancouver B2B Altanta only plays twice in 5 days. I think you can do better than that for now.

Shanahan is in the same boat... plays Nashville right after the Van B2B, but then is off for two days. I'll likely move into him with my new 5 trades. (For his 3 in 4 to end the year.)

Iginla and Murray don't have schedule anomolies like the others, so I guess they're good options. Both also don't play the last day of the year, so a move back into the Vancouver dudes is possible there. I don't like Murray as much though, playing on the road in Ottawa and NJ.

In the same thought as Shanahan/Murray, I like Fedorov alot more then Thornton.

in addition to those road Ottawa and NJ games Rogue refers to, Boston also plays Tampa Bay tomorrow. Khabibulin is one of the hottest goalies in the NHL right now, and has not been beaten in 15 games (11-0-4).

So Thornton and Murray, who seem like good picks on the surface, may not be so attractive after all.

I'm personally thinking of going:

Bertuzzi > Roenick (against PIT and CBJ) > Bertuzzi (vs PHO) > Federov/Hull/Shanny (final 3 games)

(I'm in Basic, so I can go W > C as an extra attacker).

That way, with 3 trades, I have someone going in the extra attacker spot every day except for one for the rest of the season.

I'm in the same boat, I've got Naslund & Bertuzzi, 4 trades, and a rather slim lead in my division.

Right now I think I'm leaning towards Iginla & Murray. That gives me 2 spots that I can use on the last day to get the Vancouver studs back. Everyone else currently on my team plays on Walk's birthday! ;)

My other dilema is Derian Hatcher. He's been useless. But, is it worth actually using a trade on him?

I'd probably go to either Brian Leetch (next 2 are very important games against ATL (bad D) & NYI (HUUUUUUUGE GAME)). Or just get Rob Blake, who the guy chasing me has.

Decided to go with Heatley. He's hot, and playing two so-so defenses in NYR and Buffalo. After those two games I'll move him for Shanahan, or keep him.

If I move him, I'll get him back from someone else for his B2B to end the year, and if I keep him I'll get Shanahan some other way.

This is what I did, and what I have planned:

1./2. Bertuzzi & Naslund > Murray and Amonte
3. Blake/Smolinski > Thornton

Then on Wednesday it'll be:

4. Murray > Iginla and
5. Amonte > Shanny/Hull or Heatley

Naslund > Iggy
Bertuzzi > Amonte

170 SWP seperate the top 4 gurupies ranked from 12-18. I feel like a ping pong ball moving up and down everyday in that race.

Thanks everyone for the banter and everything....I think I'm hooked on SW hockey! My focus has shifted to baseball to try and defend.

Good luck to all!

I'm considering picking up Kovalev from Bertuzzi, high risk but potential high reward, easier opponents than Murray, and b2b games starting today. hhmmmm..

Way too damn early for me. Anyways, hell of a run Dan! If only you had made the Roy > Broduer > Turco > Kolzig move like you had originally planned, what could've been. Still got time though, just wish the season was an extra week longer...

Could/Should be a huge night for me if my moves turn out as I plan, and I could make a large chunk of the deficit up. Time for the old guru-rotation here.

I'm continuing my slide, down to 50 now and I made a trade mistake today to boot... I meant to go Roenick -> Lecavelier, and instead went Damitra -> Lecavelier... It's going to cost me one game, so hopefully JR, will keep on scoring and this faux paux will not further hurt my chances of hanging in on the top 50.

I've got 6 trades here, and I've got my trades pretty lined up.

Anyone taking a shot with Tkachuk? I'm going Naslund > Tkachuk/Hull/Shanny this morning. I hear that Tkachuk will be back today, but I don't know if the gamble is worth it. In terms of production, though, he could easily be better than the Red Wings.

I'm also sitting on one goalie rotation spot, and if I go into Broduer today for the B2B (cross my fingers he plays), I'll be able to stretch that until the end of the season and still have one trade left to move Iginla or Thornton into a stud of choice for that last game.

Just thinking....

I too had 6 trades, and used 4:

Heatley -> Mellanby (for B2B)
Roenick -> Fedorov
Amonte -> Hull
Turco -> Joseph

With 5 Red Wings (Fedorov, Datsyuk, Hull, Lidstrom and Joseph) and 4 Avalanche (Forsberg, Hejduk, Tanguay and Blake) I'm really putting all my eggs in one basket. My other three players are two Blues (Mellanby and MacInnis) and Brodeur.

My 5th trade will be Mellanby -> Heatley after Stl B2B with Chicago, and in time to get Heatley's last two games. My last trade I'm not sure of, I'll probably move a forwrd to someone who has a B2B the last two days.

Gaborik (check) - actually pick him up for CLB because I just traded him again.

Plaffy - Just picked him up from Gaborik
Karyia
Oates
Hull

05 - Stay away from M. Savard and Heatly.

less then 800 pts in 5 days. The streak continues. :)

As you can guess from my other thread, I'm rotating at Goal... I went

Belfour -> Roy... It was a tough choice between Roy and Cechmanek, I couldn't find anything on who would be starting, but I think both will start tonight and sit on Sunday if they have nothing left to play for....

Tomorrow, I may trade both goalies.. Roy and Broduer.. To ??????? I'll look in the morning...
