ESPN's FHL Playoff Challenge
Any Gurupies interested in participating are welcome to join the private group BBC Regs on a Raft; the password is cheechoo (that's right ... the pride of Moose Factory, Ontario).
Copied-and-pasted stuff (my notes added in [brackets]):
Eligibility: ESPN Fantasy Hockey Playoff Challenge (the "Game") is open to legal residents of the United States, including Washington, D.C., who are thirteen (13) years or older as of the date of entry. [If you reside outside the United States, you can probably play for pride and enjoyment ... let's see ESPN try to stop you.]
Game Play: The playoffs start Wednesday, April 9, and all roster moves for that first day of the postseason must be made by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. You can change your roster for each gameday and all roster moves must be made by 11:59 p.m. each night and must be under the 50.0 points limit to have a valid roster. [The daily roster deadline is 11:59 p.m. for the following day's games ... e.g., Tuesday night for Wednesday, Thursday night for Friday, and so on. If FHLPC is consistent with other ESPN games, the deadline will be Pacific Time.]
The objective of the Game is to select a roster of ten (10) NHL players (two (2) Centers, two (2) Right Wingers, two (2) Left Wingers, two (2) Defensemen, and two (2) Goalies), while staying under the 50.0 point rating limit, and accumulate the most points according to the scoring system (see below).
The Game's scoring system is as follows:
All Skaters:
4 points per goal
3 points per assist
1 additional point per power play goal or assist
1 point per two Penalty Minutes (accrued)
1 point per two shots taken (accrued)
Goalies:
8 points per win
5 additional points per Shutout
1 point per ten saves (accrued)
-1 point per goal against
For FHLPC 2003, you can change your roster for each gameday throughout the NHL postseason. The listed values will change following each round of the playoffs and are based on a combination of the players' season-to-date and projected playoff statistics according to the scoring system. [FYI: ESPN did not change player values at all in last year's game. It'll be interesting to see if they actually follow through this season.]
Grand Prize (1): The Grand Prize winner will receive a 20" LCD TV. Approximate Retail Value ("ARV") $1,000.00.
Second Prize (2): The Second Prize winner will receive a personal mp3 player. ARV $200.00.
