0 Subject: Opening TSN Roster ideas

So far, I am concentrating on finding those third members of big scoring lines - you know, the lower priced guy playing with two studs. Winger playing with Thornton and Murray in Boston (Knuble?), center for Naslund and Bertuzzi (Morisson), winger with Sundin and Mogilny (Roberts?).

On defense, I usually look for guys who are around $2 million who will play the most games by Christmas on good teams, or at least defensive minded teams; this year I am looking at Detroit and Florida. Hopefully I can find three defensemen that won't hurt me, and won't get hurt.

For goalies, I look for guys who usually play at least 3/4's of their team's games. I also try to avoid teams with heavy schedules - those are the games where your goalie will play one of two, and if he is the top goalie on his team, he will get the tougher team. Right now I like Nabakov and Khabibulin, but am looking at Luongo and hoping that Boston picks a goalie and sticks with him. I also like Weekes for Carolina, but that may just be a homer pick.

Overall, I am trying to leave myself some room to move into Sundin and Mogilny after the Leafs have the first three nights off. Will probably pick up some Minnesota guys to move after their first two games.

Anyone have any top line combos with a cheapie to look at? Anyone want to spill their strategy?

Either Zetterberg or Datsyuk will be centering Hull and Shanny on Detroit's first line, price at 4-5 mil is pretty darn cheap.

Also, Isbister will probably start here in Edmonton with Ryan Smyth and Ales Hemsky. IMO, I would take all 3, but won't for strategic reasons.

Latest I've heard is that Samsonov will be on the top line with Joe and Murray. Knuble will be on Rolston's line.

I don't really want to share this information but what the heck :P Former Maple Leaf, Hoglund, looks like a real good option early on as he projects to play on Florida's top line with Jokinen and Kozlov, at 2.4 million I don't think you can go wrong.

For defencemen, Marc-Andre Bergeron will quarterback most of Edmonton's powerplay this year, and should be a HUGE sleeper

Josef Boumedienne looks to get some points being the line mate of Sergei Gonchar in Washington. Hes also $6 million cheaper.

I also like Alexandre Daigle in Minnesota.

Still looking for a cheapie C.

Anyone from Boston know anything about the injury to Andy Hilbert? Will he make the roster? Is he any good?

Rob Niedermayer, ANA, 2.56M, might be worth a shot at C, if he plays on one of the top 2 lines, and has 14 games in the first 4 weeks.

Which one is better choice: Datsyuk or Zetterberg ? I think they both will centering two of Detroit´s top lines. I take, hmm...maybe Datsyuk ?

I would have to say Datsyuk, cause he'll be plaing with Hull and Withney (according to rotoworld) and Zetterberg should center Shanny and Holmstrom....

Good call Teddy'

Niedermayer played the role of power forward exceptionally well during the Duck's playoff run and has actually cranked his game up another notch here in the preseason.

If he keeps playing this way and if he ends up on a line with Vinnie Prospal feeding him the puck...

Hop on the money train.

How's Potvin looking for Boston? Isn't he only 4.07? Thats over a mil cheaper than Aesbischer..

The correspondant of the Bruins over at ESPN seems to think Potvin has been pretty so-so. Boston isn't renowned for its defense either. He's a better TSN option then a roto one, but his TSN value isn't the greatest either. I haven't checked Boston's opening schedule though. If its weak/busy, he might be worth a look at that price.
