Subject: What are the Panthers thinking?

In the waiver draft, they picked up a goalie Valiquette, so they put Jani Hurme, who was on the protected list, on the waivers. Of course Hurme was picked up. The Hurricanes picked him up and traded him to the Thrashers.
That's such a stupid move for the Panthers. Hurme is a good goalie.
On a side note, what's up with Nolan Baumgartner? He was involved in the Sundin-Clark trade and then the infamous Lindros 6-for-1 deal (he was the first round pick that was tossed around). He must have been on 10 different organizations by now. People just pick him up and then dump him on the waivers, only to be picked up by another team and then dumped on the waivers again. What's up with that??? |

My guess is that the Panthers wanted to cut Hurme's salary from the payroll. The bigger question is why in the world do the Thrashers need another goalie?

Baumer......He knew his role in Vancouver and that was purely as a depth player. If he were to stay with the team he'd be the 8th defenseman at BEST. Mojzis, Grenier, and Jokela have impressed the coaching staff (Koltsov probably has more talent than all of them but is really out of shape). On Pittsburgh I finally see him getting a regular spot in the lineup.
