This should be a good trading day !

Hot scheds coming up : Was, Van, Det, NYR ...

Is it time to trade in Ribeiro, is he done scoring and making cash....

Where are the big guns, Sundin, Bertuzzi, Sackic and Lemieux ?

So good luck everybody with your trades, i predict lots of movement this afternoon...

Yeah it will, I hate my team right now, heh.
Think I'll trade for Bonk. Sundin might me a good pick too, since he's begun producing after a poor start.

I went all out and spent 4 of my 8 banked trades. (Of course we get 5 new ones in 3 hours.) I had to decide on either schedule or performance, since I didn't find the two matched up very well this week. For example, do I take Datsyuk or Spezza? Datsyuk has an awesome schedule, but he's been pretty mediocre so far. Despite having fewer games, I felt Spezza was the safer pick, and would probably net me more cash in the long run too. So I went:

Ribeiro -> Spezza: I think Ribeiro's time is up, and he's got nowhere to go but down. I'll bail early.
Zednik -> Robitaille: I needed cash to upgrade with my other three trades, and his production has been great. A bad short-term schedule, but should make some nice cash when his 4-in-6 starts early next week.
Theodore -> Khabibulin: Should've done this yesterday, but I didn't anticipate Theo dropping so much. Six straight home games for the only undefeated team in the league? I'll bite. :)
Aebischer -> Lalime: Wasn't sure about this one, as Aebischer has been solid, but three days off and extra trades/cash, so I went with it. Schedule is average, but easy.

This morning I jump out of Ribeiro train, like R9 said he has no where to go but down.... Take the money and run.... I decided to go with Datsyuk, incredible schedule, and Stve sitting the second game of B2B he should see plenty of ice time..... The important thing is to be aboard when the train leave the station then you get the pts, then the cash come and you bail out....

I've also traded Forsberg, he has been a really good pickup for me, I wanted to be different then every one who went to Karia instead... I traded him for a long shot move, I went to Jagr, same strategy has for Datsyuk, I want to be aboard when the train leave.... Both of them has a good schedule for the next 2 weeks....

I didn't tought of Aebischer but do you guys really think he will plummet???? In this case, who should I go with.... I have 9.38 Million to spend......

I am moving into a couple of Ottawa guys myself tomorrow, and will add a couple more next week.

Czerkawski --> Bonk
Sykora --> Havlat

At some point, will also be going Nieuwendyk to Spezza, just gotta pick the right day.

I am sticking with Aebischer for the long haul, and picked up Weekes just in time for his shutout. For the money and the style of play at Carolina, I think he is also a long term hold. I think Jamie Storr is only going to play on B2B's.

Went Pasi-->Khabi and Ribeiro-->Spezza

Keeping Czerkawski as he is producing and making money. I want to get Havlat but I'd have to dump Czerkawski, or Kovalchuk and do not want to do that.

Tuques, I'm not sure how much Abby will drop, but if its reasonably large (-100K) it could snowball because of the off-days and cause a huge plummet. Or, he could only drop ~50K and end up at almost the same price come Saturday's game. We'll have to wait and see... But with the money you have, Lalime and Khabibulin are both good picks.

We seem to be going with different strategies, lets see which one pays off the most. (# of games vs. quality of players is how I see it.)

I'm also holding Czerkawski for his next two games, then his 1 in 7 is enough to scare me away.

I finally didn't want to take any chance on Abby and bail out, I went to Kabi instead of Lalime, 1 million cheaper.... Now I just have to hope that TB VS SAN goes into a tie 0-0, cause I have both keeper.....

R9 Are you in the ESDNHL division, if so what is your team, I find out that your comment are quite good, I was wondering if you were in the top division with us....

Yeah, I'm way down in 25th thanks to my 6-day late start. Got a nice RV and a decent amount of trades though, so perhaps I'll slowly climb into the top 10...

Bah. I was hoping Ribiero would hold up until today so i could pull -> Spezza without any losses. Serves me right for not holding that final trade, considering i had planned the move for weeks :( .

I'm trying to set my team up so i can bank a few trades throughout November, so here are my plans.

Knuble -> Bonk, probably after Saturday
Jillson -> Slegr/Miller/Preissing (ill need this $ for later)
Czerkawski -> Hemsky, post freeze 11/03
Theodore -> Pasi, Nurmenin wasn't my first choice, but my funds won't allow me to move up to Lalime or Khabi, at least for this week.

Rogue, I don't see this 1-in-7 for Czerkawski you're talkin' about?

Yeah, ESDNHL is awesome.

I've been getting some good help with Naslund, nice to see him out of gravity. I got stuck with Ryder on a few teams but did get out of Ribeiro on all. I'm suprised Spezza went up more than Datsyuk though. I hadn't even noticed Khaby until tis morning when I was looking at goalies a few days ago....looks like I made the right call to get into him too.

Dienesty, for some reason my schedule (which I copy/pasted from KKB's site into a spreadsheet) didn't have the DAL game in. So its a 2-in-7 instead, which isn't too good but might be a hold if he's still making money. I'm going to go threw my schedule now and make sure there aren't any other missing games. Nothing worse then making trades based on incorrect info...

I just buckled and went to McClennan on a team, locking him in. I really milked the hell out of Roloson, Voukon, Pasi realyl late into last year when other were going with 2 studs. This extra 5 million is pretty nice though when you can have Sundin, Spezza, Naslund, Kovalchuk, Bonk.

Probably not going to be long before he's on all of my teams. I've always went with big offense and crap in the nets.

I went:

Ribeiro-Savard (Atlanta's schedule doesn't really dry up throughout November and Ribeiro's going to lose tonnes of money)

Ryder-Bonk (Contemplating between Bonk and Havlat, I went with Bonk since he's a little cheaper and more likely to gain money)

McLennan-Lalime (Ottawa has a relatively easy schedule over the next while, and Mclennan is going into a 2 in 7)

I am going to move Arnason into Spezza on Sunday, resisting the urge to do it now, because of the 3 CHI games to 2 OTT ones before then.

After Detroit concludes its 5 in 7 that they're in, Zetterberg-Robitaille seems like a good move. As is Jillson-Kaberle before Boston's 0 in 4, although moving defenceman aren't really great moves, but Jillson might drop a lot as he hasn't really been on fire and is widely held.

When do you guys think it's time to avoid the tendencies to pick up the Kings, McLeans, Ryder's with your trades as opposed to moving between the big time players like Naslund, Forsberg and what should your roster value be at?

I would think at around 80 million, you would be able to buy a team full of stars with the odd Spezza or Czerkawski type of player in there.

Also, I'm just curious to how many games or how much money do you believe necessitates pulling the trigger on a trade? Do you guys look at picking up a game or 2 from players in week cycles or a longer period?

Personally, I try, and the key word is try, to pick up players for 14 day periods, hoping to gain at least 2 games from the trade. Usually it is time to trade a player before they enter a period of 3-4 straight off days, 1 in 5 or 2 in 7.

Thanks.

Jay-P: When to trade? I like to look at least 21 days out for most of my wings and centers, allowing one or two spots to be only 7 days out - this is where I am trying to find the money. These are the guys that must be traded if they have three days off, and usually even just two days off. The next greatest thing since sliced bread will come along and you must get in early to get the best effects of that train. Especially as we get into month number 2, the prices will have fairly well stabilized based on performance, and now they will change much more based on games to be played.

I will only trade a d'man at this point of the season to get out of an injury or avoid a huge money loss that won't come back (Chelios). The points difference in bailing out and then back in on a train (like Jillson) is just not worth the trade.

I also like to find goalies that will play most of their team's games, and then hold. I started with Potvin (ARGH!!) and Nabakov (double ARGH!!!) and have moved to Aebischer and Weekes. I don't plan to trade again from there unless the playing time situation changes, or Carolina just plain out sucks. When my roster value grows to a more comfortable level, I will then look to upgrade at G and D.

My theory has always been that the most valuable trades are the ones when you can move a stud coming out of a good schedule to a stud coming into a good schedule. Most opportunities for those kinds of moves come much later in the season, as you have more studs on your team then. At this point of the season, find the Kovalchuk's and Czerkawski's and King's and Pitkanen's and Spezza's to increase your Roster Value and gather points, and hold those trades as much as you can (of course, I traded Czerkawski today to get Bonk).

Am holding Czerkawski on two teams because I feel his points vs. price stand out so much that he will continue to rise in $. I will move on Nov. 3, but if his price starts to drop today, then I may move earlier. After last night's 86, I would expect his price to continue to rise, even though he has two days off.

I moved Rick Nash to Bonk on one team.

I am holding Sopel until I find out after tonight if he played. For me, Sopel replace Visnovsky of LA because I read that Lubomir had hurt himself and was day to day. So, the guy plays and gets a 51 which I missed. Sopel traveled with the team to LA for tonight's game (fire and ice in LA?) and therefore he might play. I do not want to make the same hasty trading mistake twice. However, I may lose some $ as a result. We'll see what happens after tonight's game. If I do have to move him, it'll be to Atlanta's Kaberle.

We'll keep this going...

3 different teams, 3 different situations.

1) Nothing in the bank. Stuck with Ryder because I didn't have the cash to swing a trade yesterday. Could've downgraded from Federov, Cloutier, Ohlund. Chose Federov as his schedule turns to average to grab Savard (over Spezza) to get me the cash to go Ryder > Roberts in a coin flip situation vs. Robatille.

2) Ryder and no cash in the bank. I made moves Aebisher, Arnason, Ribiero yesterday prefreeze into Spezza, Niedermeyer and Khabibulin, but I didn't want to double swap from Morrison or Naslund with the B2B. Decided to eat some more losses from Ryder and hope he turns the light on tonight.

3) Held Theodore and Ryder over because I ran out of time prefreze yesterday. Nothing in the bank again, so I decided on McClennan from Theodore to get the cash for a full upgrade of Ryder to Bonk, who is just tearing it up.

Looks like my thinking was wrong, as usual. Marius C. down -$50k. Looks like there is now enough "press" for his slide to continue for fear of those holding suffering through further losses. I am one such person.

Funny R9. Yeah. I have had a nice run of late, thanks to the 5-day late strategy. My other team is like 35 or something on that list, too. Love the money!
