Subject: Ultimate (and Basic) Wednesday Trading

I thought I'd start a new thread since the old one was getting annoying to scroll down to look for new posts.
possible trades for me today:
Khabibulin --> ??? Morrisson --> Tanguay (though I just got Morrisson so it'd be a horrible waste of a trade) Jovanovski -->??? Will he be gone for long or just yesterday? |

trading out of morrison is not wise IMH0, he still plays 3 games this week although the 1 in 4 in not nice to hold, he has a 4 game week the following. Tanguay also has one less game then Morrison in a 2 week period.
Especially in Ultimate, there are not that many options at Center.

Anyone looking at Valeri Bure? I am thinking about D. Sedin to Bure for the $'s that almost have to flow. Bure has put up two BIG games since he has come back. I won't gain in games, but FLA has a pretty soft schedule, at first glance.

Went Czer- Bure in the ultimate. Other than that my team looks solid, Kovalchik is starting to worry me because he is so widely owned but still made money today, same with Morrison but their shceds are really good.

Yeah, it's hard to combine the basic and ultimate trades into the same thread as we often mix up the positions of the players. I suggest that going forward, the threads be separated so that folks playing either game can more readily find their peers for comparison purposes.
For me, in ULTIMATE, in a "who really cares" move, I will likely sell Chris Simon, a former cheap, steady point producer, to Luc Robitaille tomorrow, even though LA has 3 days off coming up. However, if Simon were to have a good game tonight at home against Pittsburgh, I'll hold. He is now playing with Barnaby and Messier on the rangers' 4th line (but these lines are being shuffled nightly). Lindros is moving back to center between two youngsters (Lundmark and Moore), Holik with Carter and Rucinsky, and Nedved centering Kovalev and Hlavac.
My preference is to hold Vasicek unless he sees a big price decline (which would be due to another lame game or two). Carolina has many games coming up (7 in 12?) and it would seem prudent to hold. However, Vasicek is oversold and could see a sharp decline in ownership should folks perceive that other centers (e.g. Randy Robitaille, Bergeron) are more productive and value-laden options.

It looks like I've got three players to move on my Ultimate team. I'm heavily laden with Vancouver folks and plan on moving Jovanoski (D), King (W) and Messier (C) which will give me about $11,570K to play with. That money can comfortably be rolled into Van Ryan (D), Vyborny (W) and Weight (C) and leave me a bit of spare change.
Of course, my plans most likely will change before I actually pull the trigger early Thurs morning.

Richard before getting Weight, you should make sure his suspension is done, I know he had a 4 game suspension but don't know when it ends...

Wow - it didn't take me too long to find out that I have to change my plans. Its seems like Doug Weight went and got himself suspended for 4 games (eligible to come back Nov 19th against Phoenix). How did I miss that bit of news.
Time to look for another Center that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Vyborny is an interesting move Richard, I picked him up a fews days ago from Lucky Luc and hope for the best with his good schedule.

I'm going to hold my Vancouver guys with their 1 in 4 because I just like them so much....Naslund, King, Ohlund are a main reason why I'm doing so well right now.
I got suckered into Messier after that HT, and he's given me nothing, and Forsberg has tied up all my RV. Considering:
Forsberg > Tanguay, Tkachuk, Nagy Messier > Doan
Anyone like that Phoenix connection? They've really been awesome so far.
I could wait and see with Forsberg and then just go to Armostrong or Bergeron, although I don't like their skeds nearly as much as Doan's for example. Robatille is also an option for me as well I guess.
I also like the Vyborny pickups.

I'm holding Forsberg for now. I just got him back, I really don't want to waste another trade...

Vyborny...interesting. However, he is in gravity, but surely socres goals. Lotta games though. Lotta games. I like the option. Surely will stop the gravity with that schedule and his price/production.
SMALLWHIRLED. I highly value your opinion. As a fellow McLennan holder, I have some questions for you.
Calgary is playing their rookie tonight or tomorrow, should the rookie outperform McLennan, it is conceivable that they start splitting time, or that even the rookie gets the #1 job. In that case, we would have to revamp to move out of McLennan and into someone like Aebischer. This would require some roster overhaul. For you, maybe merely moving Forsberg, who is hurt, to someone like Vyborny and then moving McLennan. For me, who has Tanguay, Kovalchuk, Bonk, Morrison and Yzerman has my "expensive" players that I really do not really want to move, well, I am not sure...
I have 7 trades and $2MM in the bank. If McLennan has to go, I would consider making a triple swap moving Ohlund down to a cheap defenseman (along the Coyote lines of Radoslav Suchy) and also moving Chris Simon down (to someone like Serge Aubin).
I wanted to get your thoughts on the following:
- when would you give up on McLennan? - would you make a triple trade to trade up like I proposed, or basically, "eat" someone like Yzerman, and drop Stevie for someone like Bergeron or McLean or Staal or Randy Robitaille?
thanks, walk

I also have Mclennan, and I've decided to hold him for the long haul. He's never really gained any cash so money losses aren't a main concern. (Especially not for us. ;) Even if he splits time with the rookie, which I'm not convinced will happen anyway, it'll just be the same thing as Roloson/Fernandez last year. I'll take 1/2 the games for his price, at least in November anyway. Worst case is Sabourin wins the #1 role, and I go Mclennan -> Sabourin.

Funny R9. Yeah, Sabourin wins the job, and then we have a $500k starting goalie. Too much. I guess the worst case for me is that they split time. Minnesota last year seemed to be a stronger team with more wins. I am not sure that McLennan splitting time on Calgary would yield sufficient points, even from a $1.65M slot. I would be compelled to move him if he were to split time with Sabourin (but that is merely speculation based on rampant personal self-inflicted fear at this point!).

If a split happens I'll probably eventually move too, although I'd time it to happen in a Van or Col lull that equals me trading Forsberg or Naslund anyway. (Like Vancouver's 2-in-9 from Nov 30th to Dec 8th)
One of the reasons I'm reluctant to move Mclennan is that goalie seems to be a really hard position to predict points-wise this year. The last thing I'd want to do is downgrade a winger (garanteeing less points from that spot) only to pick up a stud goalie who does crap for me. If I could find a sure Naslund-like TSNP goalie, I'd probably find a way to make it work...
Mclennan lets me have complete studness at wing. So unless Mclennan really goes into the tank I'll stubbornly hold on.

Gotcha, R9. So far, not too shabby, with Calgary up 5-2 with 14 min to go in the 3rd. However, I think Vasicek has to go, even with a game tomorrow and a decent sched. Carolina is not very good and they do not score.

Let me first go out and say that it was Manny, just like everyone else, early in the year....and Roloson when Manny went down. Still with RV's as low as they were last year...why wasn't Roloson popular in Jan/Feb? He was huge for me.
As for McClennan, I agree with Rogue in that I have committed to him. How long will it take for this rookie to establish the role of starter? Role probably won't be set for another week, week and a half...and the landscape will change by then.
Best case scenario, he implodes, and allows us to hold our cheapie....if not, it'll only be a double swap real quick to upgrade. Not as big of a problem as it looks IMHO.
As for your "eat" scenario. Det's sked does have that 3 day hole, were you considering holding through that? I'm assuming you were, which is fine....if not, you may be able to eat someone else later.
I just think McClennan should be okay for at least a little while longer.
Personally, I'm just trying to be as prudent as I can with my trades and build my bank, hopefully getting through this week with a good 4 in my bank, so I can get aggressive and manage like last year.

Looks like Forsberg is looking like he may be able to go. I think I'm going to hold on to and get some points there.
So I guess it's Messier > : Armstrong (Stumpel back no earlier than the 19th, but not the best of skeds.) Robatille (Career high is 5 goals, sked so damn good, is he a ghost train, etc) Bergeron (Really I don't know a lot abotu this guy, average sked, he's scoring some decent points for the price) Weiss (playing with Bure in Florida on line number 2, good prospect, pretty good sked, a gamble though)

Thanks Smallwhirled and Rogue. I am feeling more "stable," after McLennan's performance last night. He should be a hold for a bit now, regardless of how Sabourin does in his next outting.
I was going to hold Yzerman through the 3-day hole, and would likely make the extra trade to upgrade McLennan to, say, Aebischer (more wins) if need be.
I already created some cash ($3.5M) by moving Simon to Aubin, and will move Vasicek tomorrow to Bergeron to EITHER create more cash (to have the cushion to upgrade McLennan), or upgrade Josef to a $6M center to use up that cash (and forgo the thoughts of losing McLennan). Decisions decisions!
I think if I am to go to McLennan, as I did about a week ago, then I have to "go all the way," and assume he is the #1 goalie in Calgary AND use the cash savings aggressively with stronger forwards.

Is Leopold going to get the lemming jump from Mclean/King/Vasicek trains?

Rat - I don't believe Leopold will be a big move right now, I believe most people are eyeing 11/19 for defensive trades in Zidlicky. As well, majority have moved into defensmen already as evident by the many d-men in the price movers.
If jordan keeps producing, then maybe he will be picked up.
