it doesn't sound good at all. This from Rotowire
Cloutier, out indefinitely with a groin injury, had his nameplate removed from his locker stall in the Canucks dressing room, according to the Vancouver Sun. Alex Auld, recalled from the minor-league Manitoba Moose on Tuesday, was assigned Cloutier's stall -- an indication the starter may be out of the lineup indefinitely. Cloutier, who injured his right knee twice last season, hurt himself at the end of the Canucks' skate Tuesday morning and told reporters he had strained his groin muscle. Cloutier, however, also said he hoped to be able to back up Tuesday night against the Penguins and indicated he didn't believe his injury was serious. "They were going to check and see how his groins were today," coach Marc Crawford said after the Canucks practiced Wednesday. "I wish I had more to tell you, but I don't." Cloutier did not report in the morning to General Motors Place. We'll continue to follow this story closely.

From Rotoworld.com FWIW
Dan Cloutier - VAN - G - December 14 Dan Cloutier should be back for the Canucks before the end of the week. His groin injury is healing quicker than expected, and although he will not dress tonight, he will travel with the team on their upcoming 3 game road trip. Get ready to activate Cloutier later this week.
