0 Subject: Basic - Season II

Posted by: Great One

I am gonna take a chance on Boucher hoping Burke really does get sent off... which leaves me with...

Thorton

St.Louis
Lecavalier

Corvo
Slegr

Boucher

Nash

Anyone see any picks that they think are great to open Season II with? Let the discussion begin...

Here's my starting line up so far.....A lot seemed to be good bargains to me as compared to the prices from Season 1.

Player New Price Old Price
Marleau 5.50 4.05
Murray 5.14 7.51
Stillman 4.65 6.50
Modry 3.60 2.80
Slegr 1.51 2.09
Raycroft 5.37 5.74 (Won last 4)
Havlat 4.10 6.06
This group seemed to be producing well as of late. I liked Thorton also as a good bargain 6.37 in season 2 versus 9.38 in season 1. It seems Murray did as well as Thorton and was a bit cheaper, and in my price range.

Just an FYI. The current sortables Price Change for Basic is set to the difference between a player's Season 1 price and Season 2 price. Might be helpful when looking for bargain players who you think will perform better for the remainder of the season.

I was just wondering who is the best goalie option to start the season 2 ?

Raycroft, Lalime, Burke or Boucher ? What do U think ?

If those are your only 4 choices, I would narrow it to 2 at least until Burke is traded... Those two being Raycroft and Lalime...

Okay, letīs say that Burke is probably going to Philly. Then all four goalies mentioned above are interesting picks but which to choose ?

Thornton, Joe BOS 6,370,000

Murray, Glen BOS 5,140,000
Stillman, Cory TB 4,650,000

Slegr, Jiri BOS 1,510,000
Ulanov, Igor EDM 500,000

Raycroft, Andrew BOS 5,370,000

LeClair, John PHI 3,720,000

LeClair's price dropped 1 and a half mil, and has 7 points in his 5 game point streak with an excellent sked..

Ulanov has become a top 3 D-man here in Edmonton, and is running the show on the PP. At 500K, he's a steal.

Still got 2.74 in the bank..

Team 2

Thornton, Joe BOS 6,370,000

Hejduk, Milan COL 6,470,000
Murray, Glen BOS 5,140,000

Morrisonn, Shaone BOS 620,000
Ulanov, Igor EDM 500,000

Raycroft, Andrew BOS 06 5,370,000

LeClair, John PHI 3,720,000

Why did Hejduk go down 3.4 mil? Also, Morrisson seems has gotten points in his last 3 games..

DragonsRage, gotta talk to TLW about that one. It's done a completely volunteer basis, so it's not like I can complain. :)

Joe Thornton

Glenn Murray
Milan Hejduk

Igor Ulanov
Niclas Havelid

Patrick Lalime

John LeClair

Any comments are welcome. The toughest decision for me is the goalie also, Raycroft being the other option, but I don't want to have too many players from Boston. Lalime hasn't been very good lately, but he plays for a good team that should get a lot of wins and the sched is good as well. I might go Leclair -> Samsonov,
Murray -> St. Louis before the roster freezes.

Any thoughts on this Season II lineup

Thornton
Hejduk
Havlat
Pitkanen
Ulanov
Raycroft
Leclair

any suggestions or comments would be grand

GRRRRR
Sorry I've been bombarded by work ever since the new term began in the new year... I began my PhD studies, ya know. I kinda overlooked the column.

But on another note, is it me or are the prices messed up? It says Brodeur had 19 wins, Turco 16, Cloutier 15, and Lalime 13. Those are stats from Christmas.

TLW - I believe that for Basic 2 that the stats have not been updated since the inception of the registration period. My guess is that they froze the prices (and the stats) to keep things from changing before the true first price update for this game.

I have Raycroft now, but have the cash to go to Lalime... what do you think? worth the switch?

I am a long term trade thinker FWIW.

If that's the case, it's important to find those players who did better between Christmas and the All-star break than the first half of the season. The Sedins, Slegr, Murray, Lalime came to mind. There are a few other gems down the price list.

It looks like whoever gets enough cash to afford Forsberg but not severely downgrade other positions will do better in the pool.

Along the lines of what TLW is thinking, you might want to use the Sortables to look sort by:

- Price Loss
- Last 30 days points
- Min 10 games

Guys like Hejduk, Turco, St. Louis, Murray, and Naslund stand out using that sort. At least in terms of guys they may have dropped the price too much on.

Well boys there is a lot of good tips and players mentioned here but letīs talk about cheap defensemen. What do you think which players will be bargains ? I think Slegr(1,51) might be the one that people are buying again. Maybe Ulanov (o,5 Mil) too, I donīt know... How about Delmore (o,56) from Buffalo. He has sucked but is he starting to play like he can ? Anyone from Buffalo here who knows more about him and his situation ? Any other good tips ?

Yah slegr is a very good bargain, he is definitly on my team.. another good cheap D is ulanov at 0.5 and i think Eriksson is doing well.. He gets lots of time on PP.. might watch out for him..
Another player that is cheap and stands out is Conroy at 1.92.. nobody has him on their team yet in this forum. I believe he is doing very well..

Now itīs official. Burke to Philadelphia.

According to phoenixcoyotes.com:

"Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have acquired center Mike Comrie from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for goaltender Sean Burke, right wing Branko Radivojevic and the rights to unsigned draft choice Ben Eager. "

with this news, you guys think Boucher is a solid option after all? I might go back to him from Raycroft... hmm... or up to Lalime...

I did it, Boucher should be an easy price gainer if he gets a couple decent starts out of the gate - with ANA to start with too - and I was able to move up to Hejduk with Colorado's solid long term schedules.

I do not understand ? Hope they fix this problem.

What time is exactly todayīs first roster freeze ??? Please help me !

I believe they are now doing game time trading - with price updates at 11 PM --
after all games for the day have started and all players are locked - a player is locked when their specific game starts.

Boucher might have shut out his opponents for over 300 minutes ONCE, but his records after that were horrible. With a bit over $3M spent on defensemen, I'm content to go with Lalime.

The initial lineup of The Left Wings:
Joe Sakic
Henrik Sedin
Martin St. Louis
Valeri Bure
Jiri Slegr
Darryl Sydor
Patrick Lalime

So uh, you could take them as my recommendations.

Traditionally, The Late Wings (day-late team) outperforms The Left Wings in Season 1, but the inverse is true for Season 2.

Yep. I made my last move yesterday night before the games begun (before game time trading) and I have now only 3 trades left.
(Should be 4 ? now that they added 2 trades ?) This is weird ! Is there any person from the company who can explain this or is there any person who knows how or where can I ask this thing ? This is not fair if someone got 4 trades, some other 3 or someone no trades at all... The site was down a long ago so it wasnīt so easy to make your team.

I think a few years ago there (this forum) where a guy called Erik B or something from the company ? Anyone remember ? Please help me and others. Thank you very much !

season going along pretty well right now..

anyone with Havlat
- he is doing awesome obviously... BUT
thinking about moving before his upcoming dry spell in his schedule?

the TB guys look like obvious alternatives with a 4x4 schedule I drool over (4 weeks x 4 games each)...

Ulanov EDM (+570K)

Raycroft BOS (3-0-1 in last 4)

Robida going on the IR for an indefinte period of time raises some interesting options for those managers who just moved into him.

Who do you think may be viable replacement? Ulanov & Berard obviously.

Anybody else, see any other potential posibilities?

Pitt seems to be able to put some goals on the board - its just the worry of losing 6-3 and your guy gets and assist but then -3 that sucks..

Went Berard->Leetch.

He's expected to be in the lineup tonight. If so will be pick up an extra game this week + I expecting Leetch to make his prescence felt on TO's PP.
