7 freaking years without a sniff of a playoff game and now we've seen the home team play 19 games. 9 home games and the atmosphere inside the dome has been insane. The city is flying high. Dope pushers and ecstasy vendors are feeling the pinch as sales dip while we all ride the Flame high.

I have managed to get to 2 of the 9 home games and the atmosphere has been outstanding-electrifying.

I have driven to both games and from about 2 km's away from the stadium you can feel the buzz. It grows and ground zero is just madness. The closer you get the insanity becomes apparent...Tailgate party's, Pedestrians cheering and blowing those crazy horns, flags waving everywhere. Cars honking horns and the car "rally" flags all over the place. Crazy guys dressed in red long johns with big red wigs, disco sunglasses and those silver emergency blankets being worn as capes.

Outside the stadium road hockey games spring up and tin foil Stanley Cups appear. Ken King (flames pres.) wanders around the parking lot shaking hands and greeting jublilant fans. He's not hard to find, he's the only guy in the entire place wearing a suit. Old junkers that have no reason to be on the road sit in the parking lot enjoying new life as they are painted red, white, a bit o'orange, and black with flaming "C"s painted on the hood and doors.

Just outside the main gates the Beer garden overflows with eager fans all dressed in red, A Don Cherry look-a-like wanders by and is mugged for snapshots. Some crazy fan is dressed up as the Stanley Cup. Although he's got a ticket, he won't be able to sit in his seat. And then the streaker tears through the crowd to a tremendous roar of approval and then the chant begins "Go Flames Go".

As a fan this is what it's all about. I thought it was hard getting a ticket for this series. It's going to be insane getting tickets for the Cup final (send unused tickets my way-lol). Hopefully I can get one or two.

As a fan of the game, I can honestly say that this is/has been one of highlights of my hockey life.

2 moments that stood out for me while at the games. The crowd singing the national athem (induces goose bumps) and some old lady who's probably been to countless/meaningless Flames game winning the nights 50/50 draw (congrats to you). Why that moment touched me I do not know.

And tomorrow a new chapter begins

...Work will consist of 7 hours of Flames talk; 1 hour of work.

I usually don't care about hockey, but the Flames are a lot of fun to root for. Go Flames!

It's nice to see a real hockey town in the finals.

It's been great to be in this city for this run. It is amazing to see how pumped the city is after years of sucking.

The Bolts will be ready for you, Calgary.

Caught my first glimpse of the "legendary" Don Cherry during the Lightning post-game show. Does he always dress like a carnival barker? He didn't make too many friends when he yelled at the Tampa Bay fans cheering outside the Ice Palace (that sounds so much better than St. Pete Times Forum) to "shut up."

Some nitwit reporter tried to bait John Tortorella into making the finals a "Canada vs. the U.S." series ... Torts flat out told the guy he wasn't going to be part of any bull****. Live TV.

Oh, and a huge thank you to Paul Kennedy and Sunshine Network for that post-shower interview with a shirtless Darryl Sydor. ;-)

It shouldn't be a Canada Vs. Us LeMoose because there are more Canadians that play on the Bolts (15) I believe then on the Flames. My cousin is one of them, Jassen Cullimore.

Funny fact:

TB is the first team in NHL history to beat the Habs (excluding the finals) on his way to win the Stanley Cup.

I'm guessing there'll be more fans at today's Flames rally than at the Cup parade.

19 Canadians on the Flames team roster.
15 Canadians on the Lightning team roster.

Copied this from the St. Pete Times message board:

Two boys are playing hockey on a frozen pond in a Red Deer, Alberta, park when one of the boys is suddenly attacked by a crazed Rottweiler.

Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his hockey stick, shoves it under the dog's collar, twists it, and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend.

A reporter is strolling by, sees the incident, and rushes over to interview the boy.

"Young Flames Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in his notebook.

"But I'm not a Flames fan," the little hero replies.

"Sorry, since we're in Alberta, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and he starts writing again.

"Oilers Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook.

"I'm not an Oilers fan either," the boy says.

"Oh, I assumed everyone in Alberta was either for the Flames or the Oilers. What team do you root for?" the reporter asks.

"I'm a Tampa Bay fan," the boy replies. The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes:

"Little Bastard From Florida Kills Beloved Family Pet."

lol, I heard the same thing, but it went like this:

Instead of: Flames, Oilers, Lightning
it went: Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, Canadiens

and ended with:

"Little French Bastard Kills Beloved Family Pet."

...I like yours better
