Thanks alot guys!

Yeah, I had my profile under my dad's birthdate and e-mail.

Last night I just switched my profile name to 'Ron', rather than 'Ira' to avoid any technicalities.

1st place finisher: Samsung HLN4365 (DLP big screen TV) with matching stand (TR50L2S), ARV: $3500.00 CDN

It's a 43-incher replacing my 32 (maybe 36?) inch.

It may not seem like a huge difference, but this one is a 'digital laser projection'. Picture couldn't be any better on it.

Congrats, Ira!

Sorry I'm a bit late on the grats, cuz I was out of town for all of June.

Anyways, it seems to me that you've learnt quite a lot from hanging around this place for the last three or four years.

I'm curious what your parents have to say about this. Care to tell us?

Thanks TLW,

Yeah, I gotta admit, these boards sure started me off in my fantasy career. I owe alot to Rotoguru.

My parents weren't all surprised, but at the same time excited to see my success. I'm sort of known as the 'hockey guy' at the family get-togethers (uncles, aunts, cousins, ect.).

I was contemplating selling the TV, because the family just bought a 36' TV last year, and I thought there are more useful things to do with $3000+. Then my dad came up with an idea, which was this: If I keep the TV for downstairs, he'll buy me an electric guitar + amp (Probably $400 worth) and a labtop (his company has a special deal where if you buy a labtop, the company will pay for it, and deduct it from his cheques little by little), and, if that wasn't enough, he said he'd give me a thousand bucks. My mom hasn't exacly agreed to the money part yet, but I expect I can still get probably $300 plus from the parents. I'd be spending most of it on my car anyways, so it's a good cause.

I don't know what else to say, other than my entire family was pretty impressed.

Under the rules it states:
"The winner of a prize must consent to the use of his/her name and picture for promotional purposes related to this contest."
Looks like my dad will be famous, lol.

Oh, and I received my 'Official Notification' in the mail last week, even though it also stated in the rules 'Please allow 6-8 until Official Notification'.

Sweet Deal.

TV is finally coming tomorrow! I dunno, I might just sell it. It's a digital dealie, and there's no point having the feature if I'm not going to use it. My dad said he wouldnt pay for the $800 adapter to hook it up. So I might just sell it, by a just as big TV, and have extra spending money. I already got an electric guitar + amp for my b-day..

Not yet.. Havnt gotten around to marketing it yet either. My dad's boss might buy it. I'm looking to get about 3000 for it. I'll probably put it in the Bargain Finder soon.

Ya, he's been interested.

Funny thing though.

I was in West Edmonton for my soccer game, and after the game, we passed by the Best Buy store. I was thinking that hey, I've never been there. I asked my dad if we could just stop in to check it out. He said sure, so we spent a few minutes circling around it because we couldnt figure out how to get in the parking lot from where we were. Finally we got in, and as we got inside the store, to the right was the TVs. So me and my dad wanted to find out what it was retailing for here, since we've found a few different prices for this paticular one. Sure enough, we found the exact one. When we got to it, there was already a man there scoping it out, and 3 employees, all looking around 20 ish years old, sweet talkin him to make the deal. My dad starts chatting with this man about how I had won it, and I was trying to sell it. One of the employees there asked how much I was looking to get. I mentioned $3000. The man paused for a while, looked at me and said 'Here, come walk with me.' He pulled me aside, and my dad came along, and this guy said his house was flooded during that big Edmonton flood a month or so ago, and he wanted that EXACT TV. So we verbally made the deal, and after him and my dad exchanged business cards, we were all checking out pockets for a pen so we could write down my home phone #. Finally, without a word, one of those employees hands my dad a pen. I looked over, and all 3 of those guys were watching us, lol. Anyways, we'll be dropping the TV at his house tomorrow, and I'll be getting my 3 grand in cash. :)

Sorry for the long story, I'm kinda bored right now.

Good article on DLP in a recent Wired or Business 2.0. Can't remember which one because they often cross into each other's territory on stories, but it talked about how TI is managing a rebound after the calculator market fell out from under them and the rebound includes DLP.

Wow, congrats, I won a shirt once from smallworld in playoff football, they didn't even ask my size - they sent me a medium.

Do you think you will see NHL games this year on it?

espos, nope, cause I sold it.

There won't be NHL though to answer your question seriously. My answer would be different if there was even the slightest effort was shown by either sides.
