0 Subject: Wow, Jeremy Roenick can kiss MY ass.

Here is the full story.

"They coulda listened to the players who had an idea of where this was going, myself, Robert Esche, Jarome Iginla and Chris Pronger ... but in February I didn't think the deal stood up."

Well you've had your chance. You passed on it. Bettman warned you before. So blame yourselves.

"If we (the NHLPA) woulda signed that deal in February, in terms of what we're getting now, we woulda looked like heroes. Right now we look like a bunch of idiots... The deal in February beats the **** out of the deal we're gonna sign in July."

Exactly. You can never win this. You need the game more than those billionaires do.

"It's unfortunate we had to go through a whole year to realize the bull**** that was going on ... we've hurt our league, we've hurt the reputation of our league and the integrity of our league by sticking up for something that might not have been the right thing to do," said Roenick.

Yes, and by "we", he'd better mean the NHLPA, and not including the NHL.

"We might have won in '94, the owners will win in 2005, now let's make the fans win."

We already lost a season. And here's the worst part. Roenick is a complete arrogant jerk:

"If people are going to sit and chastise pro athletes for being cocky, for being suck asses, they need to look at one thing and that's the deal we're going to be signing in about three weeks. Pro athletes are not cocky. Pro athletes care about the game. Everybody out there who calls us spoiled because we play a game ... they can kiss my ass."

Yeah I'm looking at the deal you'll be signing in three weeks. You're getting what you deserve in the beginning. If you care so much about the game instead of the money, you would have signed the deal back in February. YOU can kiss my ass.

Seriously, I can't stand this guy and others who are whining like he is anymore. Oh, BOOHOO you've lost millions of dollars this season. Well you didn't have to lose all of it in the first place. Players like them are killing our sport, and they don't even know it.

The bottomline is that you don't need $10M a year to live a comfortable life. Just be gracious you're making so much money (because of the last deal) instead of taking the money for granted. That's right, the players are taking EVERYTHING for granted and that's the problem we're having.

They want to play, and they want the money, but that money is killing the game they want to play. It takes this long for them to realize this, and they are going to pay for their stupidity (or misguidance by Goodenow) by signing a far-inferior deal.

Just think about this: How can the world's highest level league (and a monopoly of the world's best players) be improved if the players get more and more money? It's not like they can get this type of competition and prestige if they all play in Europe for some no-name cups.

meh. the reality, quite frankly and not trying to stir up $hit here, is that no one, relatively speaking, cares about professional hockey, at least in the U.S.

the ratings stink, and they've always been that way. Pro Bowling gets better ratings. in fact, i think they had something akin to Celebrity Kayaking on as a replacement for NHL programming on ESPN, and *IT* got better ratings.

Tree, exactly! The player's can not and refuse to accept the fact that professional hockey is only a regional game and within those areas only a fraction of the people are interested in the professional game.

The NHL Players Ass! is trying to extort NBA, MLB, and NFL type of money from a market that just doesn't exist. If they sit another year they'll being making CFL salary's.

JR's an ass. He and everyone else just threw away a year of their finite professional careers. - and I don't think he was healthy during that layoff, I believe he was injured too...lol.
