He'll have the best teacher in the game playing on his line. What a great day for this (pathetic the last few years) franchise.

Draft Order.
I was following this on TV with smallwhirled, and with 5 picks to go my Habs and his Pens were still in the running. I'd like to see this every year. :)

I'm happy for the Penguins. Lemieux and Crosby on the same line? Cool.

Lemieux, Crosby, and Recchi might be the first line, wow!

They're going to snake this year. So #2 is probably the worst possible position.

Very well could be....huge dropoff. Although the talent pool is EXTREMELY deep this year. There is only 1 Crosby, but there should be tons of other studs. This is a 2 year draft too....

The TSN guys were commenting that even with Crosby this is one of the deeper drafts of the last 10 years. Still, picking 2nd is probably as good as picking 10th, and then going another 58 picks while watching all the talent dry up definitely isn't any good...

re 10:
Why is it a 2 year draft? They drafted last year....
Didn't the Penguins pick second and get that Evgeni Malkin guy after the Capitals got Ovechkin????

Two year draft, no idea what that's about. Ovechkin last year, Crosby this year, Kessel next year, must be the booze talking.

Wow, so Ovechkin was indeed drafted in 2004 instead of 2003. I'm with Smallwhirled... I thought I remember the draft being cancelled last season.
Oh now I remember why. I wasn't out of town all of June last year. When I came back in July, all that people talk about was the imminent lockout.

Me too. I remember a draft being cancelled, but I guess that was just this summers' draft and the 2004 draft went ahead as scheduled...

2004 NHL Draft
I heard the ANA owner(?) talking on talk radio today and he said that his scouts told him the key was to be in the top 9. Apparently, they feel that's where the dropoff is.
Then again, this is ANA...
