0 Subject: Possible strategy with the new rules!!!

Hi everyone, I was looking at the pool, trying to find out the best 12 players I could with that 50 Millions and I came up with this type of strategy... I would like to hear you guys about this, I might be totally out of there....

All this is about Goalie... With the new rules, smaller equipment for goaltender, no red line, less clutching and obstruction (maybe) we should see more pts/game... We might see something like 5-4, 6-5 type of games, especially with the shoutout after a tie game... So here is my plan, we could go with 2 goalies that aren't playing at all at 500K and free up some cash to full load the forward and defensmen with studs....

If a goaltender faces 30 shots wich is not that much and not that few... He gets the win and he let in 5 goals... That would leave this player with a production of about, 25 pts... This is only if he don't get a shot, an assist or penalty minutes... How much can we spend for 40 pts a night... Don't forget if he lost 5-4 instead of winning the game that would give the owner a total of -25 pts...

Do you guys see this or I'm totally out of the reality??

Merci, Tuques

I still think that goalies will rack up good points whith a victory.

Not to mention that the stud goalie is still going to get a 40 save shutout win every now and again, which will majorly outproduce any stud skater.

i do see where you're coming from but removing the goalie from you're point total could get costly. It is just as likely that a player goes -1 with no shots for -10, regardless who he is. A goalie WILL get his saves, and it's roll-of-the-dice ont he W/L

Just my 2 cents

I agree...

They always talk about these "great new rules that will open up the game" every summer, and then come the season, coaches figure out a way to crack any minor new changes, and the refs go back to calling things they way they've always called it.

well , they say there will be a concerted effort to keep the foot on the throat year round when it comes to calling obstruction .....

what ends up happening is gm's ,coaches, players, media, fans end up whining about calling the game too tight , then the ref's get a call from their boss to relax a bit and ''let the boys play '' ....If everyone keeps their whining to themselves , everything would be fine . However , hockey is a very emotional sport and I cannot fathom how things can change on a dime

Interesting strategy. One that might be worth trying in the free game, but I'm not gonna try it if it's gonna cost me money....

Your probably correct in your analysis but the drop wont be that significant for all goalies.

But it could be that the goalies that play for medium ranked teams are not usable in fantasy anymore. The risk could be to big to loose with high numbers.

So I think we could se a bigger spread in how much a goalie costs.

I don't think it's a real good idea. It makes you have 10 players vs. everyone else's 12. I'd much rather have a 500K winger/center/dman (think Ryder, Hunter, Souray like players from last season) who could on any concievable night score 50-100TSNP than a $500K goalie who's guranteed nothing all the time.

I havent checked out the goalie prices yet but there is always a bargain or two . I would assume guys like Garon (kings likely starter) and Gerber (canes likely starter) would be priced nicely for immediate $$ gains while providing solid stats ...

You can also add Lethonen with Atlanta, wich I would pick before Gerber!!!

For my tactique to work I would need high pts/game everynight wich will not append....

I have to agree with The Dienasty regarding forward at 500K that could produce some decent pts....
