Well smallwhirled, along with others, have convinced me money is important in hockey. So I have developed what I feel will be a money making team. Any thoughts?
Datsyuk, Pavel $5,530,000 Bergeron, Patrice $3,630,000 Carter, Jeff $2,750,000
Wingers Team Next Game* GP G Malone, Ryan PIT $3,760,000 Vanek, Thomas BUF $3,500,000 Bochenski, Brandon $2,550,000 Svatos, Marek $500,000
Defensemen Team Next Game* GP G Leetch, Brian $4,840,000 Gonchar, Sergei $4,620,000 Visnovsky, Lubomir $2,870,000
Goalies Team Next Game* GP W Garon, Mathieu $4,500,000 Grahame, John $3,230,000
I was very confident about Svatos, Marek earlier before the preseason started. Now I am not so sure about him anymore. Might have to go with Marcell Hosa or Miettinen.
This leaves me with almost 8 mil in the bank. Should another player prove to be better money makers than my current players, I can easily jump on them with my money in the bank. At least I hope. I'm also hoping to make a quick buck on my goalies and then move them out to other more consistent goalies like Kipp. |

You'll burn through 5 trades quickly with Pitt, Philly, Col, and Ott picks. Otherwise I like your team setup.
What's wrong with Jagr on the wing? Tough schedule to start but could be a steal at 6.5 mill. Am I missing something about him?

CSF is right, you're going to burn through a lot of trades early, that is if you care about your RV. Money is important, but you don't need to go after it with everything from the start. I gurantee that at least one player will come out from out of nowhere and be a bigtime gainer early on, so build your roster with longevity in mind and keep trades around to hop onto those flavor of the week trains.
Ain't nothing wrong with Jagr, ive got him locked in ATM myself. :)

Jagr was actually my first pick on this team. Then I decided to go cheaper to try and make money. Svatos, Bochenski, and Carter are so cheap I actually think I am gonna keep them no matter what.

That is a lot of money to have in the bank, its always a good thing, but i don't think I have EVER had 8 million in the bank and I have had teams in the top 100 each year and in the top 25 for Revenue.
I have never used the strategy of keeping d-men as long term holds, its something to think about. However, I find manangers incorporating this strategy later in the year and not at the start because money is so stight. I have made a lot of money off cheap d-men, you may try and do some homework and draft one that you feel with see RV gains in order to save a trade in that spot.

If you had to choose between Grahame and Garon, who would you pick? I'm going with Grahame at the moment, but I'm still not sure.

I'm leaning to Graham myself, I have Clouthier who is a lock for a month and Garon at the moment, but I might trade Garon (I don't really think LA can win every night) for Graham wich would give me more money to play with...
