Subject: Anyone running a player ownership details

With all the brain (coding) power that I know that plays hockey, is there someone out there that is already planning on gathering the ownership data?
Just want to know before I start to work something up. If I do it, I'd need someone's account details since I'm not playing... |

You can have mine if needed. Plz let me know if me and my friend can do anything to lighten the load. We will do what we can. Of course I am not the programer of the two, so I cannot really say much.
Wouldn't it be the same one u use for basketball anyways?

This is how I understand it. Every team has a team id. And you can look at their team if you put in their team_id in the url. What RSF's program does is it goes into everyones team id and spits out the relevant information.

Cool, thanks for the explanation. So, does his program work right now or does TSN block access at certain times?
Meaning = can anyone develop a program to get at anyone's players?

What it does is read the Frozen Rosters URL. This info will become available after the first roster freeze (I'm not a hockey guy, so I don't know if that has already happened).
The script then just parses out the info I want (SWPs, Players, Roster Value, Trades, etc) and puts it into a database.
Then I'll have another script generate the HTML source for post here or on a seperate website.

Cool, thanks RSF.
On a side note: I used to work for TSN - back in the Smallworld days. Things were wide open back then so just curious if they have secured the hatches, so to speak.

Has this been set up yet? I'm curious to see which players were the big pick ups.

I don't know who's been picked up, but I have a survey of 56 random teams' initial rosters. Here's the top 10 in ownership:
Heatley, Ozo, Kipper, Spezza, Grahame, Palffy, Visnovsky, Crosby, Comrie, Gonchar
These were the only ones on 10 or more rosters of the 56, and none were on more than 34%.

Yeah, it'll work.
Does anyone have a list of the players and their TSN ID Numbers (in a TXT or CSV file like):
TSN_ID#, Player_Name_First, Player_Name_Last
Or something remotely like that?

RSF, TSN_ID# matches up with the IDs at yahoo.com and the stats page will list all skaters with all goalies on another page, so if you can paste it once with the names and once with the URLs that should get you the info needed.

Good, because I was too dumb to get the URLs to come down right. I'm trying to use OpenOffice to do this but it's macro language doesn't hold a candle to VBA so I'm going to have to break down and buy an old copy of Office 97 to do this right. :)

I'm just using some straight VBS and bypassing using Excel or anything else anymore (outside the Access DB).
