For this: ----------------- Important Note: Our Salary Cap Hockey games started last night to several problems. If your inquiry is not covered by these responses please feel free to post at note on our Hockey Forum.
1. Stats were delayed. They should now be updated. However, there are scoring discrepancies. We are working to repair a few scoring issues right now.
2. While repairing scoring an error occurred in which players disappeared from rosters. This is currently being repaired and will be updated as soon as possible.
3. Daily stats breakdown display. When reviewing scores, baseball positions are listed next to your hockey players. This issue is currently being repaired and did not affect scoring. ------------------
What the???????? A mess. KKB says it all. |

Eh, its their first day doing hockey in almost 2 years, some screwups were inevitable. Not great to see it happen, but I'll get over it.

Actually, in web site and programming terms, having more time between versions and still screwing it up is worse, not better.

The 2005 verson is upgraded from their 2003 game. Well if that is the reason than its bad, really bad that they havethat many problems.
But as I read somewhere that the stat-feed were not what they expected I could understand it more. They probably have tested with old stats-feeds and when the first live feed came....
Still bad risk managment but now at least they can blame someone else :-)

Blaming it on stats feeds is weak. If you're used to getting things A,B,C and it comes in C,A,B that's not going to take a whole lot of time to fix. For any given sport, it usually takes me about an hour to update the TSNP Calculator for any changes that may have happened in the scoreboards; and stats feeds don't even change THAT much. I'm dealing with changes in layout, links, etc. whereas TSN only has to deal with data files.
In fact, I would be interested to know exactly what changed. It's not in a stats company's best interest to change their feed because then all their clients will need to change the way they read that feed. And if they did change their feed, I'm willing to bet that they would notify all their clients of the changes. This is just a good old fashioned passing of the buck.

I'm wondering how many of the TSN crew was even around the last time hockey ran. It could be nobody there had any hockey experience at all, and thus was updating the baseball interface to hockey from scratch. Without knowing what would be needed they basically just waited for us to complain about what was missing.

I got this email this morning from TSN, probably after a post I made on the TSN message board:
Dear Hockey Fan,
The hockey season has started and so has our 2005 Ultimate Fantasy Hockey game. The first two days of the season have not gone as smoothly as we had hoped, but I assure you that we are doing everything possible to get the game working at 100%.
Since the 2003-2004 hockey season, a lot has changed in the NHL and within our games. We've made many innovations to Ultimate Fantasy Hockey to bring the game from the 2003 version to our new 2005 standard. As you have seen, there have been a number of resulting game display issues that have affected the quality of the game.
There are two things that I can guarantee you going forward:
1) We will be working feverishly to get the game up to standard and will keep you actively informed of our progress. Please check the Ultimate Hockey forum for the latest information as we will be updating this board every chance we get.
2) The integrity of the game will be preserved at all costs. The problems with the game have been restricted to display issues. We have all the scores, standings, and roster changes saved and although they may not be showing up correctly they will be accurate once all the repairs are made.
We have been and will continue to respond to all issues regarding the maintenance and integrity of our Ultimate Fantasy Hockey 2005 game. In the meantime, I hope you'll keep playing and updating your rosters as we move through the list of known issues. If you feel you know about a problem that is not being addressed, please use the forums to contact us.
In recognition of our failure to offer a game up to the high standards that we expect, we are offering each of you $2 off our Ultimate Hoops game. Just use the code HOCKEY05 at check out.
Thank you for your patience as we work through our early season rust and offer a quality fantasy hockey experience.
