Following a 4-2 loss to Chicago on Sunday night, most of the news out of the Wild locker room this afternoon following practice was still rather bleak. The big story continues to be the injury situation, which blew up again against the Blackhawks with forward Marian Gaborik coming up lame. Head coach Jacques Lemaire, following an afternoon practice, still didn’t have an update on his star winger.

But word from Wild Assistant General Manager Tom Lynn is that it is not a groin injury as orginially thought, but a strained hip flexor. Gaborik has been ruled out of Tuesday night's game with Vancouver, but will be day-to-day after that.

Gaborik played just three games since returning from a groin injury, which caused him to miss the first six games of the season.

“It is frustrating because we waited a long time to make sure that he was completely recovered from that injury (the strained groin) and he plays three games and he’s back to being injured.”

In his return, Gaborik scored six points in the three games including both Wild goals against Chicago. According to Lemaire, Gaborik was just starting to get back to his usual self.

“He started to play, and it wasn’t that he was playing great, but he was scoring. He was just starting to play better and get involved a little more. He had great confidence and you can’t ask for much more than that. When you have (confidence) it’s easy to get your game back together and that’s where he was going. And now he’s going to take a few steps back.”

The Wild didn’t hurry Gaborik back in the first place as he claimed himself ready a good three days before his debut. So now what type of a timetable is there for his return?

“I guess we just have to wait. We’ll do what we did with him in the past and wait until he feels good and he’s ready to play."
