0 Subject: Week 17 trades!!

Only guy I see on my roster needing to go is Visnovsky. Of course if my players continue to play like s***, I might just overhaul my entire team.

Datsyuk -> Rolston/Crosby
Visnovsky -> McCabe?

Kiprusoff -> Anyone but Kiprusoff

What a bust Kipper was... Talk about abysmal. Calgary players always kill me, why the hell didn't i just stay the F away.

Lidstrom/Zubov -> Chara/Mccabe

Still not sold on this, and I might hold Zubov and skip Chara. It gains me two games though, Ottawa is due to breakout and gets to play Pittsburgh twice. I have a ton of trades so I might get agressive here.

Moved Kipper to Thomas... One week late, but Thomas is still playing very well and should hang onto the job at least until the break. It was either he or Broduer, but Brody's got some tough starts against Carolina and then Toronto on HNIC.

Also moved Datsyuk to Rolston. He's less of a +/- risk and averaging slightly higher numbers through recent games vs. Crosby.

Watch all of this blow up in my face. :|

Calgary Phoenix trade:
Sauve and Reinprecht to Phoenix for Boucher and Leclerc.

I think it's safe to say I'll be moving Kipper. Calgary has only 4 games til the break and Boucher will most likely get 1 of those games.

Kiprusoff > Brodeur x3
Boucher > McCabe x3 ???

Waffling on this one. I've been quite happy with Boucher, and Toronto has a 3 in 9 coming up right after the Olympic break.

on a hurting Basic team, went
Nagy > Alfie
Zidlicky > Pitkanen

Anyone thinking about moving Jagr for his 1 in 5 / 2 in 7?

Don't love the options with a 3 in 5 starting today. Leaning toward holding until after Saturday's game and then in to Prospal/Smyth/Hemsky for a quick 2 games and back to Jagr. Or just holding Jagr, not sure those guys are worth 2 trades for 2 games right now.

One observation: even if I wanted to move to Ilya today, I couldn't... at 75.5m, my RV is too low, I can't afford him!

I think I'll drop Jagr today for the same reason urkel is stating...

Options are Vancouver, Atlanta or NJD...

I'm looking a Kovalchuk he is due to break out of is slump...

Kovalchuk has been demoted to the 3rd line. Maybe that lights a fire under his azz, but its a sign he's struggling and playing without much heart.

Lidstrom = > Pitkanen (yesterday)

Turco has a good sched as well and Kipper is staying put.

I was thinking of using my last trade on Doan to get Bertuzzi or Naslund. The rest of my guys are set until the Olympics, so I'd only get screwed through injury.

What does everyone think of this risk? I gain 2 games, and upgrade a player, but I go 6 nights without a trade..

And who has been better lately, Naslund or Bertuzzi?

Ira (#16) - Everytime, including this past week, that I've gone tradeless, I've regretted it. The latest episode was just this past Monday when I used my last trade and was left holding Ovechkin until trades got refreshed. Of course, he had to come up injured and I ate his price loss for a day or two.

Ira, if it were me, I would hold Doan. Naslund and Bertuzzi aren't the consistent scorers they used to be, so an extra 2 games from them aren't really worth the risk of going tradeless, IMO.

Yeah, I have 2 trades and am holding Jagr...not moving to anyone during the NYR lull. I am hoping there are better opportunities for such a move another time. In the meantime, if there are injuries, I have 2 trades to cover me.

FWIW, Naslund is skipping the olympics. He's gotta rest a squeaky groin.

Looks like the buffet of juicy wingers has temporarily dried up. You have to really pick through the pile simmering under the heat lamp to find a meaty replacement.

Gagne seems tempting. I like the Montreal (if theodore gets the start), Islander, Washington matchups.

Elias - tough opponents

Prospal - 403 pts in the last 30 days - but only 1 goal...all assists.

Svatos, Tanguay - Someone has to step in to fill Hejduks spot.

I can't hold Jagr...Ranger schedule isn't that good.

Here's an interesting tidbit from HockeyInformer. I wonder if it will light a fire under him......

Ilya Kovalchuk, Atlanta Thrashers - Kovalchuk has been demoted to the third line for tonight's game against Panthers, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Coach Bob Hartley was not impressed with Kovalchuk's recent play including his illegal stick penalty in Tuesday's loss and stated that he would remain on the third line for the entire game.

I was thinking about moving Jags to Kovy, but that out the window since i missed Kovy's freeze. Thinking Naslund maybe now. He hasn't been overly explosive this year and for all i know it could be wash in TSNP vs. Jagr, after all is said and done. Hard to believe Naslunds been 100TSNP or better only one time this season...

I may also just do as walk is doing with my 2 trades and just keep Jagr. There will be other opportunities to get games eventually. Thinking...

I'm definitely holding Jagr for tomorrow's game at least. Still undecided on grabbing 2 Prospal/Smyth/Hemsky games. I'll probably follow Walk's lead and end up holding Jagr and waiting for a better opportunity. I'd rather use two trades to gain two games from someone like Forsberg/Gagne/Demitra.

I am glad that I went back to Brodeur yesterday. However, a word of caution, and cannot find any updates on this in any local newspapers:

I watched the 3rd period of the game last night on TV. With about 3 minutes remaining, Brodeur made an awkward kick save and then was clearly and repeatedly bending his left knee during subsequent play stoppages. The announcers commented that this was the same knee he had hurt previously. He did not go to the bench to get it checked nor did anyone come over to him on the ice to check on him. He stayed in the game to finish and get his 80th shutout. Still, I was concerned and would not at all be surprised if the devils rested him tonight against Toronto (the guy never rests though). I have checked the NY Times, NY Daily News, Bergen Record, Newark Star Ledger and the NY Post. Nothing (yet).

it would, it would and you could probably kiss your RV advantage goodbye.
Auld, Thomas, and Miller would be suitable replacements for a fraction of the cost.

It'll be insane. Everyone with a 73+mill roster will be able to load up on studs and swap them in and out when player schedules gets light.

The game is starting to resemble the last stages of the Tour de France.

Still nothing that I can find any of the 5 local newspapers...I'd assume Brodeur is okay, but also would not be too surprised if he got the occasional rest tonight at Toronto. I have no news, and remember, he finished the game last night and was not attended to during the game when he was flexing his knee after a coupla stoppages. This happened late in the 3rd period.

Still waffling over Jagr > Prospal/Smyth.

Only have 20K in the bank on one team, so I sure could use the RV injection.

Marleau has just about played himself off my team. He will probably become Staal on Thursday, barring a huge comeback in his next 2 games.

what mini-slump? he didn't score in his last game, but he had 4 shots on goal, which coincidentally is the exact same as Gagne's performance.

But yeah if you're only gaining 1 game with Cheechoo and Forsberg is returning, then it makes sense to hold Gagne.

Ilya > Jagr.

Got some tremendous production out of him from 1/17 to today. Just tremendous.

1/18 - 8
1/19 - 5
1/21 - 10
1/24 - 35
1/26 - 22
1/28 - -14
1/31 - 0
2/3 - 23
2/4 - 43
2/7 - 27

15.9 per game is just outstanding.

My team sucks. All the resources any manager could want. RV - check. Trades - check. Yet, my team continues to go backwards.

Why would you drop Cheechoo for Gagne anyways? take a look at my breakdown of Cheechoo's TSNP numbers from before the Thornton trade and after the Thornton trade (I think it was from the trade thread of a couple of weeks ago). Since the trade, he has been putting up the same kind of numbers as Gagne... in fact, much better numbers than Gagne over the same time period; most of Gagne's gaudy numbers came during the first 2 months of the season.

And now with Forsberg's setback yesterday, it just doesn't make sense to make that trade right now, IMO.

Watched the game on TSN. Rangers dominated Ottawa. When the score was 3-1 the broadcasters kept on stating that Ottawa will eventually show up, but it never happened, Rangers pumped in 2 more goals to clinch it. Ottawa managed 2 shots in the 3rd period. Brutal. And the crowd was relentless taunting HASEK the entire 3rd period. Spezza had his bell rung and left for a short while.

Keep an eye out for his status.

My Basic team (Thornton, Alfie, Jagr, Cheechoo, Pitkanen, Kipper) vastly outperformed my Ultimate teams (many Sens + many Sharks + Jagr) last night.

Seriously, Urkel (#58,#62) - I've only had Cheechoo for his last three games and I've been sorely disappointed (~28pts/gm for the last 7 days). I was thinking that Gagne, especially with the prospect of Forsberg coming back, would/could easily exceed that. Obviously, with Gagne sitting the game out with the flu and Forsberg's return delayed, I'm glad I held Cheechoo. Now, I just need to get a big game from him instead of the disappointment of his last three games.
