0 Subject: The Leafs will miss the playoffs blah blah blah

Is it just me or do I not care if the Leafs miss the playoffs, BECAUSE it's the Canadiens they are chasing?

If they do catch up, then the stupid Canadian media would be running around screaming "OMGWTF the Canadiens are missing the playoffs!!! Let's blow up the story and talk about it every single day! Money$$$"

If they don't catch up, well then they'll be doing exactly what they are already doing, as if the Leafs were going to fold if they miss the playoffs this season.

The Leafs' goal is to catch the Tampa Bay Lightning, not the Habs. Why are the Canadian teams trying to kill each other off?

Just like tonight. The Leafs beat the the Habs. If the Thrashers go on a hot streak and the Habs and Leafs finish 9th and 10th, it'll be games like this that kills Canadian hockey. I'm sure the Canadian hockey fans would be happy if this really happens [/sarcasm].

The Canadian teams really should stick together when we're severely outnumbered 4 to 1...

Maybe I'm just an ugly dumb American, but with the salary cap in place I don't see any reason why Canadian teams won't win at least 1 in 4 Stanley Cups going forward. Hopefully once this happens a couple of times this will no longer be a concern. I mean, the Original Six was 2/3 U.S. based, so did the average fan in 1965 care about this?

If Philly doesn't win this year, I'll be pulling for ANY Canadian team to win just so I don't have to hear about this any longer.

The Leafs as a team are penalized with the salary cap. They were making money without the cap and they will make more with it.

They gamble at the start of the season with old players and Pat Quinn and it didn't work, so big deal they will miss the play-off.

Anyway a losing Leafs is part of our national history, they beat Ottawa and lose against everybody else.

Its every team for themselves man. The Canadiens are not gonna take it easy against the leaves just so 2 canadian teams can make the playoffs!!!

I dont think any Americans are rooting for the thrashers to get the 8 seed just so that Montreal and Toronto sit home. I guess thats a canadian thing that I'll just never understand? Or maybe its just a TLW thing that no one will understand :)

I'd say a TLW thing that I don't understand. ;) He's always been big on the 6 Canadian teams doing well. The salary cap has leveled the playing field imho, so I don't worry about this anymore. If no Canadian teams make the playoffs one year its probably because all of them sucked at drafting and signing FA's. Since nobody really has an advantage that isn't under their direct control (scouting) I see no issue here at all.

Yeah, it's a Canadian thing I guess. I mean, it's obvious that we're way more passionate in this game than an average American is, so why not let us have more fun? =P
