0 Subject: Week 6 trades

Ira, I got this one....

I'm not sure what I'm doing with my ESDNHL team tommorrow. A couple of the moves I want to make leave me a little short. I need to either blow up Ilya early or Fluery early.

At this point, I'm considering toying with Pascal Leclaire. 4.08 is pretty dang cheap and allows me to keep everything else the way I want it. Fluery isn't going to last through the 3 day hole, he is/was too much of a train.

The combination that some of the higher RV teams with extra cash can go Miller/Gigure. That combination looks pretty good for my money team this week....but as for the ESDNHL team, I'm still short of 60 with Gonchar, Corvo, Erhroff as the D.

It's really been a double whammy this year at goalie. There aren't enough cheap goalies. Well last year 5-6 mil was certainly mid-priced, but this year that's cheap.....Anyways, the heavily rotated goalies are cycling through my trades way too fast, so this is at least a little enticing to me.

Other moves this week for me are:

-back into Briere
-Ilya, not sure, but on the 12th.
-Malkin for sure for that gap. Probably in and out on that one. 8 or so teams get 2 during the gap.
-Fluery sell at some point on both teams.
-Probably find a way to St Louis next Wed.

what do people think about moving Fleury to Gerber? Sounds like Emery could be out for 4 months..

If I didn't waste a trade going back into Lehtonen a couple days ago I'd have both the money and the trades to get the Giggy/Miller combo. But now I don't have the trades to do it.

Gerber's not worth the money in my book - I'd rather have Giggy/Miller for that kind of coin. That's my combo all the way here - points and money potential is excellent there.

Unless Ottawa starts winning games, it doesn't matter how many games Gerber starts in a row as a result of Emery's injury. Also agree with the suggestion that Miller and Giguere are currently better choices for the money.

My moves so far:

Lecavalier -> Briere
Alexeev -> Whitney

I think im going cheaper with my Kovalchuk trade and look possibly to Vanek. I'd really like to move into Heatley, but it's just too much money tied up for me right now, given that i plan to get Miller soon too. The saved money will also allow me more freedom to make upgrades to Michalek and Sykora later on, not mention allow me to keep Crosby locked in.

I was thinking of going Lombardi to Staal (Car) nice schedule... I was also looking at Ovechkin, but I think Vanek will be in from Michalek...

Honestly I just don't know what to do at all...

So sad to see Hossa go...

Will wait until Sunday to move him. Will lose some money I know, but he is just way too hot to move now. Options I'm considering:

Hossa > Selanne/Vanek

Really want Briere on all teams, but not sure how to do it on 2 of them, which already have Crosby and Malkin. Definitely not ready to move Malkin just yet. I guess I'll have to upgrade T.White/Penner, but I'll need to downgrade some D to do it.

and arg... Miller and Giggy? how will I find cash for them?

The move to Heatley last week is hurting me in so many ways.

Hmmm, Tkachuk has a 6 in 9, but Vanek's schedule is pretty much the same (6 in 10), but he can be held a tad longer (through 16 or 18 days). Tkachuk has to go after the 9 days due to a 4-day layoff. Vanek is averaging 50 ppg and Tkachuk 41 ppg. With Afinogenov out, more pressure is on Vanek to score, which could be good or bad.

Jordan Staal > Briere
St. Louis > Vanek

Eventual moves out of Ilya, Fleury and back to St. Louis.

Hmmm...Missed the Pittsburgh layoff, so Malkin and Fleury have to go, but Whitney is staying put.

SOPEL has got to go (Anybody have any info on him???), as does Beech (dont ask, dont tell policy on this one) and Ilya too.

Im in trouble...Need to sort things out...

I was planning on holding Fleury for his next 2-3 games and then making the switch, but Miller's gain was more than I anticipated. Time to cut my losses.

I had a funny feeling getting Sykora wasn't going to pay off as well as i hoped. After seeing his price drop last night, he's going to have to put up 3 consecutive 50+TSNP nights for that trade to have been worth my time. Should have played it safe and gone to Whitney, instead of trying to get cute and do a 1 week in and out.

I have to admit that going to Sykora wasn't the move of the year, I've let Kovalchuk go for Sykora, so far it's a plus in pts and money... I have 3 game to come from Sykora, as long as he outpoint Kovalchuk it will be a gaining situation for me... I'll have to trade away from Sykora after these 3 games and I'll be looking at a long term hold....

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller will miss at least one game with a lower body muscle strain.

The Sabres called up Adam Dennis from Rochester of the AHL to back up Martin Biron for Friday's home game against Florida.

Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said Miller developed soreness during off-ice exercises, and doesn't know how much time he'll miss.

''We don't expect it to be too long,'' Ruff said following Friday's morning skate. ''It's something that flared up on him.''

Held Miller through the gap and now this is what I get??

Holding him for now. I think it's more important to hang on to my trades for the end of the week and hope Miller comes right back.

Might not be the right move, we'll see in a couple days.

Will Malkin last long enough to hold for the Philly game before his big drop, or should I move him to Drury sooner than later?

If Ilya is any indicator, I'd say probably not... but then Malkin is late-week trading, Ilya was 1st day with new trades. I'm holding anyway, as Phi is too good a game to pass up.

This sounds crazy, but I am trading INTO players with holes in their scheds.

Hossa > Sullivan
Hossa > St. Louis

Sullivan on teams with plenty of trades, St. Louis on those without. I don't love picking up injury prone guys like Sully, but that sched is hard to pass up.

Due to bad planning the last 2 weeks (and trading while drunk...), I'll have to hold Malkin through his break. It's probably wont be that bad, since he will gain a lot of it back after his break (nice ST sched). Fleury will go with my last trade though, because he wont go back up and he's not an interesting option anymore...

From Hockeyinformer:

Ryan Miller, Buffalo Sabres - Miller continues to be listed as day-to-day with an abdominal injury, reports the Buffalo News. He claims the problem really isn't an injury but rather "fatigue" from pushing himself too far during practice. Coach Lindy Ruff seems to agree with Miller and thinks the goalie can be back practicing within a couple of days, making his return to action near the end of the week. With Martin Biron more than capable of shouldering a heavy load in Miller's absence, don't expect the Sabres to rush their young goalie back soon. As a result, fantasy leaguers should play it safe and hold off on activating Miller until he's back on the ice.

With one trade left.....

Considering trading Malkin, having a 3 game break. But Pitsburg will be playing 6 games in 10 days after the break. This is a hard one, Malkin losses 70 000 on a game day !

Thinking of :
Malkin > Nylander

I now really want to trade away from Sykora, I was looking at Murray or Bouchard, good sched for both, there is also St.Louis in the same price range, but going with one of the first 2 would give me a couple of millions to play with at the the end of this week...

Caribou: Not only game day, but on a game day against the worst team of the eastern conference. That one I just don't understand at all. Maybe it's those guys who only make trades on weekdays.

On teams with lots of trades, went
Malkin > Lecavalier/Rolston

It's hard to choose between those guys huh? Vinny's been doing a little better lately but Rolston has some weak teams coming up, including 2 PHO games in the next 2 weeks. On one team with only one trade I decided to keep Malkin.

Other moves:
Sykora > St. Louis

One non-move which feels like a move:
keeping Roloson on my best team. I know with his bad schedule he's going to lose money, but I can't afford to upgrade him to Fernandez or Turco (and aleady have Giggy) I could get Hasek but he's got 2 B2B's in the next 2 weeks so I may not wind up getting any extra games from him. Ward also has 2 B2B's in the next 2 weeks, plus he's just coming off a -36 stinker. Roloson's on fire even if his team isn't (his sv% is .951 over his past 4 games), all his games coming up are at home and not B2B, so he'll probably get all of them. So I'm sticking with Rollie.

Fleury => Vokoun with my last trade. Very weak sched coming up.

Othe goalie is Roloson, and he's staying put. I dont mind having a short sched break for a goaler, since that usually means the backup will stay on the bench a little longer than usual.

Boy, am I ever glad I picked up Giggy. The back 2 back -40 nights from Raycroft were strictly amateur. To get a REAL stinker, a -63 TSNP game you have to be prepared to fork over $9m for a blue chipper like Giguere.

The salt in the wound of course is that this is PHILLY who waw dishing the pain.

Sometimes, you just gotta shake your head!

Yep, -70 for my stud tandem of Turco and Giggy. I'll salve my wounds with the 150K gain today, though. There are plenty of goalies that don't score negative points, though. Steve Shields and Wade Flaherty, to name two of them. Of course, they aren't scoring anything POSITIVE either...

Yeah most of the goalie gainers from last night didn't do so hot...

Giggy -63
Turco -7
Biron -7
Toskala DNP
Mason DNP

Ironically one of the better pickups last night, Huet (93 TSNP) actually LOST money. He's had a run of some pretty good games.

Huet and Aebischer have both been pretty solid, but the problem is that MTL is alternating them, usually two games at a time. Unless one of them really emerges as a bonafide #1, I would suggest to stay away from them.
