I really wanted Pronger on my teams but the only way I could think of doing it was to blow up Heatley to free up cash. He's just not pulling his weight, not when so many guys half his price are lighting it up.
Heatley > Selanne Heatley > Blake Heatley > Kunitz/St. Louis
Nummelin > Pronger x2 (quite an upgrade huh?) Bieksa > Pronger

I have Vanek on 1 team. He's gone after Friday's game. I'm looking at the following players only because this team i have is not really doing much so i'm going to shake it up a bit.
Options: Iginla, Frolov, Kozlov, Straka.
Vokoun gets replaced tonight by Mason, possible sprained wrist and taken out of the game as a precautionary measure.
Has anyone else seen Mike Smith's numbers. Impressive.

Mason would be great, given Nashville's schedule. Of course, I just locked up Emery and Roloson the last couple days, but I'd work Mason in. He'd mean I could go with 3 star D finally, and keep all my star W/C's too.

Vanek > Blake (NYI best scorer) Blake's ice time is the same as Yashin : 17 to 19 min/game. Droping Vanek is risky, but this game is all about risks. The purpose of this move is to have a NYI player on my roster so I don't get shafted and because of the teams that they will be playing on this hot sched : pit, wash and phi.
Keeping Briere until Sunday, will take the money hit but hoping for the points.
So I keep my chances to 50/50. 1 NYI player 1 BUF player

Sitting with 5 trades on each team and I still don't really have trades planned.
Considering Heatley > Jagr tommorrow getting in on it really early. Not sure if I'm gonna follow through with it though.
Straka > Sullivan after the Rangers 3 in 4 starting tommorrow for another team of mine.
Other than that nothing really planned in the near future. There are a ton of really crappy schedules right now. It's a good time to conserve trades IMHO. There isn't a whole lot to gain right now except chasing money but I really don't need to do that with my current team setups.

Changed my mind on that last post. I just can't stand Corvo anymore. I considered doing nothing because I wanted to make sure I had enough cash for later pickups, but I just had to go ahead and do it.
Considered Pronger, but my D is really expensive already.
Corvo > Souray x2.

I've took the hit on Buffalo 3 times, Pominville, Briere and Vanek, after looking at all this, I might just old on to them and save some trade... The hit might get really bad after Sunday's game but the money should be back....

Briere=>Savard yesterday.
More of a safe haven option than anything else. I have had trouble on the money front since the Sykora episode, that really screwed me for a couple of weeks. (OK, THAT WAS A BAD MOVE!), and Im looking to get back my RV higher for the next couple of weeks...
Vanek is gona after today, but I still dont know who for exactly. Schedules are kind of crappy.

Who is the 3rd goaltender for Anaheim ?
|

Toronto Star
ANAHEIM ADVERSITY For the first time this season, the Anaheim Ducks are faced with a little turmoil on their roster.
Already missing backup goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov (groin), the Ducks will now reportedly be without the services of starter Jean-Sebastien Giguere for an indefinite period because of a broken finger. As a result, Mike Wall has been recalled from the AHL's Portland Pirates. He joins David McKee, who was recently recalled from Portland to replace Bryzgalov on the Anaheim roster. The Ducks' unofficial third-string netminder is former Chicago Blackhawks prospect Michael Leighton, who is also in Portland these days. However, Anaheim would have to place the 25-year-old Leighton on re-entry waivers in order to recall him. It appears the club has decided against it for the time being, since Bryzgalov is expected back at practice next week.
For now, look for either the 21-year-old Wall or the 22-year-old McKee to make their first career NHL start on Sunday against the Calgary Flames at the Honda Center. While McKee was recalled first, he had been toiling with the ECHL's Augusta Lynx--Anaheim's secondary affiliate. Therefore, the better bet is Wall, who was signed as a free agent in 2005 after a stellar career with the WHL's Everett Silvertips. He also toiled for the Prince George Cougars in the 'Dub'. Last year, Wall split time between Augusta and Portland. In 2006-07, he has posted decent numbers (7 GP, 5-1-1, 3.23 GAA, .871 Sv%) as Leighton's backup with the Pirates. Whoever tends goal for the Ducks on Sunday night, he can take solace in the fact he'll have arguably the NHL's best blueline corps in front of him. As for the Flames, veteran backup Jamie McLennan may make only his second appearance of 2006-07--since starter Miikka Kiprusoff was between the pipes at Los Angeles on Saturday night.

so it's 100% then? The Star source (which I found in Rotoworld) was the only place mentioning this injury, so I wasn't sure it's true. Was actually considering undoing the trades until tomorrow.

I am still waiting for some confirmation of the Giguere injury. I believe that the journalist that R9 was refering to is from Portland, not Anaheim. If Wall had been called up, wouldn't this have to be communicated to the NHL and then issued to the press? Hopefully, something official will be announced before game time. If Giggy is out, I will probably go to Mason despite the 3 day gap. It will gain me some RV and give me some cash for Jagr and Nylander.

I'm really regretting my Huet move. I wish I'd gone Roloson instead. But now I'm stuck with the Huet move because I forgot about the trade undo freeze.
The Buffalo/NYR game started, and froze my Giggy/Huet trade. I hate that.

just as a warning, the reports are now that Giggy ISN'T hurt and is just worn down. He expects to play tonight.
From Rotoworld: Jean-Sebastien Giguere should be ready to go tomorrow against Edmonton. "I would be very, very surprised if he's not available to us in the next game," Coach Randy Carlyle said. Giguere played four games in six days last week, with Ilya Bryzgalov nursing a groin injury. "I guess you could call it wear and tear. Last week was a tough week. I haven't been through a week like that in a long time," Giguere said. The netminder leads the league with 13 wins, and both he and Bryzgalov are expected to join the team for their two-game road trip. Stay tuned.
So I should have saved my trade until I got definitive word today. :(

This Giguere situation just doesn't smell right to me. In 3 of his previous 4 games he faced less than 25 shots. If he gets tired from standing on the ice for an hour in November, then how is he going to feel when the play-offs start? If he was just worn down, couldn't he sit on the bench as a back-up? Who does he think he is, Hasek? And then there were the stories about the broken finger and then a lower body injury. I just feel that there is more to this than Anaheim is saying.
Even if the "wear and tear" excuse is accurate, I can see Bryzgalov getting more games. Anaheim doesn't want to repeat last year, where Giguere was unavailable for the post-season.
Overall, I am not too disappointed with my move to Mason. It frees up $7 million to be used at other positions, even if it uses a trade that I was hoping to bank.

Something DEFINITELY ain't right in Anaheim:
From Rotoworld: The Nashville Predators have claimed Michael Leighton off waivers from Anaheim. Anaheim had attempted to bring Leighton to the NHL due to the injuries to Giguere and Bryzgalov but he had to clear waivers first and Nashville picked him up. The Predators will use Leighton for now to back up Chris Mason, who is starting for Nashville because of the injury to Tomas Vokoun. All that being said, Leighton has very little value at this time, unless Mason also goes down with an injury.
Why would Anaheim risk bringing Leighton up through re-entry waivers if there wasn't something wrong with Giggy?

yeah all this makes me feel better about moving Giggy, although the Giggy > Mason trades feel a lot better than the Giggy > Huet one.
Huet's fine as long as he plays well and Aebischer keeps sucking, but if the situation reverses, then Huet could lose his starting gig in a hurry.

Took Parise last week and I'm not sure what I'm doing with him after tommorrow. May hold, or may try and upgrade. I don't have a ton of cash though.
I wished there were centers on Dal, Ana, Edm, or Nas worth it...but unfortunately there really isn't. Taking one of those guys is a real stretch IMO, but I may still do it.
One team I can afford Brindamor and will probably do that.

Took Parise last week with the intention of holding long term as he was hot, but I think I jinxed him and he has absolutely sucked the last 3 games. Considering a sell after tonight's game to get out of his hole, but the options just flat out suck. I wish I could take one of the center options from Dal, Ana, Nas, or Edm, but sadly they really aren't worth much IMHO.
One team I can afford Brindamor and will probably go that route, on the other I'm going to be really close depending on the price changes today.
May just hold Parise too. Who knows, lots of crazy things happening right now.....and I like it.

I don't mind having Modano for just 3 games. I didn't like any center options from Yashin so I really wanted to go back to Briere and Malkin, Modano bridges the gap nicely and I get an extra 3 games from one trade.

Heard Emery wont be starting tonight, but only time will tell. Dallas pickups were shite!
Martin Gerber, Ottawa Senators - Gerber is the probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, reports the official Senators website. We figured he'd get the start today based on our weekly planner as it comes against his old team and because Ray Emery eventually needs a rest but suffice to say, this is an important game for the Swiss goalie. If he bombs again, it would be a good time to cut your losses and drop him in all fantasy leagues. If by chance, he plays a great game - the race for starts in Ottawa will be on once again.
