0 Subject: Report about wife's surgery

My report is very positive. The 90 pound wonder of my wife, under went her second open heart surgery in 8 years yesterday for the purpose of replacing the mitral valve which had been repaired by sewing a silicon ring into it last time. The surgery went well. So well that they did not replace the valve and removed the silicon ring, leaving her with the natural heart valve with some surgical adjustments. This result was never not on the board as a possibility, much less a probability. The cardio surgeon performed a truely miraculous proceedure to obtain this result.

She has been in a Intensive Care Cardiac post surgery room for the past 16 hours and is coming back without major hick ups. Her blood pressure isn't right (had same problem last time) and they needed to "zap" her (you know..when they yell "clear") a couple of times, but alll is within acceptable ranges.

I have been home for almost an hour, and though exhausted, I am too pumped to sleep. She (we) have much rehab ahead, but all the early signs point to full recovery sans the dreded mechanical valve and related required blood thinners/stroke threats. All in all, all, I've just had my best night of the hockey season.

Maybe winning last week,s "Pick the loser" game started me on a the best of all winning streaks.
Thanks for your positive thoughts and energy.

Donnie,
Great to hear all is well.
You know you are both in our prayers.
Take care of yourself while your wife is in the hospital.
Don't forget how much of your time she will need.

Still on vacation, but going home tomorrow.
Will drop you an email later.

Congratulations, Taxman. I'm happy for you. I know for a fact that it's very uncomfortable to wait in a hospital for an extended period of time. I was there about 80% of the 4 days in which my dad fought his battle.

Now you go get some rest.

Last post on the subject..unless something unforseen pops up.

My better half (wife) graduated from cardiac ICU this afternoon and now is on the rehab floor. Besides oxygen hose to her nose, finger pulse monitor and electrocardiogram monitor around her chest, she is free of all the post surgery drain tubes, drips, measuring devices etc. Doc is thinking she gets released Friday (8th day after operation) to finish recovery at home. Remaining issues are excess fluids and blood platelet count. Both problems can be resolved om an out patient basis. All heart functions are solid on the money numbers. Now she just has to get back on her feet and regain her mobility, and despite the pain, she is already chomping at the bit to get started.

Each of you who have taken the time to post, pray and think positive thoughts on Marguerite's behalf are included in the powers that have given her the opportunity to extend her time here on earth with her family. I/we thank you sincerely. Great work gang.
