So what if Tootoo didn't raise his glove into Robidas' face? Would Robidas be the one who gets suspended if he blind-sided Tootoo just when he was turning around?

Judging from Robidas' incoming speed, it is my opinion that Tootoo's punch is simply self-defense. Given the fact that the referees did not call a penalty on Tootoo's hit on Modano, it would have been wrong for Robidas to charge into Tootoo in retaliation.

Tootoo had less than a second to react. He had to choose between getting run over or getting suspended. In the case of most people, I'd imagine that most of them would rather get suspended for five games than being run over by a truck and get injured.

Is the NHL encouraging the players, as well as hockey fans, to run at full speed at whoever just checked their captains? Should physical retaliation be encouraged at all? In most other cases, the retaliator gets a penalty. But in this case, the NHL is clearly sending out mixed signals.

Just because someone got accidentally knocked out doesn't mean that the other guy should get automatically suspended. Robidas is the one who's at fault here after a clean hit. Can you imagine what would have happened if Tootoo did not turn around in time to see him coming?

makes you kinda wonder. If it had been Crosby instead of Cheechoo doing the same thing, would he have gotten suspended?

I mean Tootoo of course. had Cheechoo on the mind because I just finished watching a Cheechoo commercial. :)
