Am I missing something here, lots of manager pack up their team with players from the 4 early games on... I surely took some of those guys on my team as well but their sched is now crappy for the next 2 weeks... I tough I was missing something, but when I wanted to trade away Spezza this morning it shows me that would cost me 1 trade, so undid the trade and leave my team intact... I'm really confuse with the strategy to go with guys from Tampa, NYR, Pitts and Ottawa...

I stocked up on Rangers because in addition to the two early games, they play more games in October than anybody else and are tied for the most home games. It's essentially a three-week hold.

Going with NYR is fine. I just couldn't really talk myself into any of them besides Dawes as a cheap place holder. Maybe that'll turn out wrong, and not starting with Gomez might be a big mistake.

The NYR schedule would've been the best even if you removed the first weekend. That is how good it really was.

This is nothing like last year when Anaheim and LA played. Pit, Ott, and TB are loaded with viable TSN players and NYR has a few too.

Starting with TB or Ott would require an immediate trade, but I'm sure some people went in with that idea. Can't fault a guy for starting with Heatley and having it work for the most part, and now using one of his trades right now to move into some other stud.

Pit is more of a dicey situation. I feel their schedule is still "good enough" to hold them for a little while. I pinpointed the 3 home games upcoming before the season, and loaded up with Pens (Malkin, Sid, Satan, and Letang) looking for big points in those games. The schedule never really gets horrible for a while, it just stays pretty average from here on after taking out the first two games last weekend.

A good draft probably blended the right NYR and Pit players along with good buys from the regular season schedule starting this week with players from teams such as Anaheim, San Jose, Dallas, and maybe Nashville.

I think most of the regulars around here started with something like that.

I am thinking about playing again this year after a few years off. If I sign up now will I lose out on trades or anything like that? I remember something being said a few years ago about penalizing teams if they don't start right away.

You need to be legal (full roster) by the freeze tomorrow to get the first set of trades next Wed night.
