I'll give it a shot:

Your Best Value pick:
18.09 Brandon Dubinsky
Getting a first line center who'll be on Gaborik's line in the 14th round I would say is my value pick.
I also think of Theodore retains his starting job in Washington (all reports say he hasnt lost it yet), grabbing him at 6th round will be my best pick.

Your Riskiest Pick:
5.04 Simon Gagne
He better stay healthy!

Thought on your own team:
I've got a pretty shifty team to me. Most of my guys have question marks surrounding them, and can be just as disappointing as rewarding. I only consider about 3-4 of my picks would be considered safe ones.

Biggest sleeper on your team:
I think most of my picks were sleepers, but the biggest one will be 16.09 Justin Williams. He's coming off a big injury, and will be on the first line with Kopitar & Smyth.

Thoughts on other teams:

Predict The Top 3:
First: PermDude (Solid at every position
Second: C. Superfreak (Toss-up with PermDude)
Third: Cobwebs (If goaltending wasn't so weak I'd have you at #1)

I'm making a new category
Biggest regret of the draft:
- Not getting a good second goalie right away, if I could do it all over I would have grabbed one of Turco/Emery/Huet/Backstrom in the first 2 rounds.

Best Value Pick: Probably Perron in the 18th round I think he has room to improve.

Riskiest Pick: Cheechoo hoping he will have a renaissance in Ottawa.

Thoughts on my Team: My team is pretty blah. It will probably be middle of the pack. I think my goaltending can be fairly strong though.

Biggest Sleeper: Kessel, new team and he will probably get more PP time and be a focus in Toronto.

Your Best Value pick:
13.03 Anze Kopitar, C, LA. I think he'll bounce back with a 80 points season, was picked 06.08 last season, his bad +/- was probably what made him drop this far.
19.03 Patrice Bergeron, C, BOS. Should be fully recovered from his head injury and will be firing on all cylinders. Would have picked Saku Koivu if he hadn't gone 3 picks earlier.
11.03 Ales Hemsky, RW, EDM. Not bad getting a 30 PPP player as my 3rd RW in round 11. And if he can get some chemistry going with sniper O'Sullivan, he could take the next step and become a 80+ points player.

Your Riskiest Pick:
Keeper Marian Gaborik, RW, NYR. Can he stay healthy? New team, an opportunity to go wild not being on the Wild;) He owes me a 40 goal 80+ point season;)
06.10 Alex Tanguay, LW, TB. Can he stay healthy? And with the right linemates he can be a point a game player again. Was drunk and without internet access when I made the pick and might have reached a bit for him.

Thoughts on your own team:
I probably had the worst group of goalies in the league the last 3 seasons, I'm obviously not very good at picking them, so might as well pick some skaters instead early. I should have waited even later to pick my goalies, but I didn't want to end up with Lehtonen and Bryzgalov again. But I'm happy getting Khabibulin and Smith, I hope that I'm more lucky with my goalies this season. Since I don't have Ovechkin, Crosby or Malkin, my plan was to be strong on D to compensate, and I think that I achieved that goal. I tried not to overreach for sleepers and go with value and focusing on PPP predictions and when choosing between players go with the one with more PIM. Another strategy was not to pick my 3rd C until very late, since the C spot is very, very deep. I think the draft went pretty well for me, don't know if I could have done anything different, maybe I should have gotten RW Michalek instead of G Smith in round 9. I also wish that I had a 4th RW and almost grabbed Hejduk or a goon RW instead of a backup goalie. Looking back on my previous seasons, I'll be happy if I finish in the top 6.

Biggest sleeper on your team:
My biggest sleepers are my unproven players.
14.10 Patrick O'Sullivan, LW, EDM. Can he regain his scoring touch and remain on the top line all season? At least I'll get a lot of shots on goal from him.
15.03 Victor Hedman, D, TB. Can the #2 pick produce in his first season at his young age? He's got the size, and Ohlund to help him, so I'm hoping he'll be worth his draft spot.
I'm also hoping that one of my 2 backup goalies will emerge as a #1 goalie, and maybe a keeper for next season.

Thoughts on other teams:
Goldcoach must be a Leafs fan, picking the Monster before Toskala;)
CSF and Dienasty with solid drafts as usual, loaded with value picks.
Little M again with solid D-men, his trademark.
All teams have strengths and weaknesses, and I won't comment on all of them.

I'm not sure what you've been hearing about O'Sullivan, but I dont think he's played a minute with Ales Hemsky in the pre-season.
However, he found awesome chemistry with Mike Comrie (which is why his pre-season stats are so impressive). Quinn is all about matching pairs on the forward lines and then adding the missing element as the 3rd man.
For this reason I have ever reason to believe that O'Sullivan & Comrie will stay a pair. They've been playing all pre-season with Ryan Stone, who had a great start but will be beaten out by a veteran, in his case, Pisani.
JF Jacques was on that first line with Horcoff & Hemsky to provide muscle while being able to keep up with the speedy pair. Either he'll be staying at that spot, or Dustin Penner will regain that opportunity as #1 LW as he's been spectacular in the pre-season.

Just thought I'd shed some light on the situation :)

With such a low draft position again I was in the mood to plug
holes and take some risks. I picked up Tavares very early with
the intention of him becoming a keeper on my never ending
keeper turnover list. This is the first year in 4 years that I
haven't had to trade a keeper in order to satisfy our league
roster rules. lol.

Your Best Value pick:
11.10 - Daniel Briere - I think he was overlooked this year due
to his injury last year. The guy is a monster point producer and I
hope last yrs injury was a blip. I'm not too surprised he slipped
this far given that he's a center and center players are abundant.

Your Riskiest Pick:
5.10 - Tavares. I'm not expecting him to do much this year. So
my 5th round pick (first pick this year) might be riding my
bench. His +/- should be horrible, but he'll get playing time on
the Isles. Don't expect me to be dumping this kid at the end of
the season. I feel I give myself some depth with keepers with this
pick. His jr stats are incredible but this is the NHL and as
Springsteens sings "the highway's jammed with broken heroes.."
oh wait maybe I'll save that for Theo Fluery.

Thoughts on your own team:
My D is the weak link. I'm going to be active on the waiver wire
this year. I don't think this will be the D you see at the end of
the season.
Goalies are okay. Last year I drafted Gerber. Ugh, but made a
miraculous waiver pickup of Steve Mason. I think 1 solid goalie
and then either a waiver pickup when a starter drops seems to
work well. This year I have 3 solid goalies with Nabby, Rinne,
and Elliot. That's an NHL jinx right there my friends.
Forwards. I'm good. Real good. Pretty disappointed that
Bergeron was snagged by Cobwebs, but really how many C's can
you have...Fisher was another pick I like by pfb. I like both
dudes when they show up to work.

Biggest Sleeper on your team
Ohlund D TB - ha ha no i'm kidding.
13.10 - Brad Richards. How did you guys let him slip so far.
Dallas isn't that bad are they?
14.03 - Erik Cole. A full year in Carolina.

Thoughts on Other Teams
With the exception of the Edm* draft picks I think ira has a
strong team. (Who let the Oiler fan into the room??? lol)
Blake will get a lot of shots. Havlat, Gagne, Williams, Schneider
need to stay healthy for him to win it.
LittleM had a nice pick with Kariya and he has Selanne...oh wait
this ain't 1999. Solid D and G.
Goldcoach has a nice draft with a good mix of players from
strong teams. Nice draft newbie...er ringer.
tommyd snagged kessel dammmit.
Tax is getting stronger and was one of the few managers who
did not keep a goalie. I don't think he suffered at all with Mason,
Turco, Breezie, and Boucher.

Predict The Top 3:
1) GoldCoach - Luongo, Spezza, Heatley, Gonchar, Jokinen,
Hartnell.

2) Cobwebs - Thornton, Weber, Backstrom, Gabby, Ryan,
Tanguay Hedman, Bergeron. O'Sully

3) CSF - Ovechkin, Iggy, Toews Tavares, Michalek, Briere,
Richards, Cole. Drury

Centre is loaded for bear this year. I hope to produce and
hopefully have some trade bait with these guys.

Thanks for Ira and Goldcoach for joining RGFHL. All I can say is
thank you for stepping in so quickly and keeping things moving.
Awesome job. I hope us vets won't disappoint you guys.

Thanks for clearing that up, Ira. It's Rotoworld that's been hinting that O'Sullivan has a chance of playing on the top line. He's the top LW on the depth chart, and played a few games with Hemsky and Horcoff last season. We'll see what happens, hearing your input, he's even more of a sleeper now.

Things got off too a less than stellar start for me this season already when i found out that Marian Hossa was going to miss the first couple months due to off-season surgery, after i had announced him as a keeper. My draft strategy thus changed and i was desperate to try to fill up the offensive gaps that his absence would certainly leave. I think i did a decent job down the back half of the draft in doing so, but may have reached too far in certain spots... I honestly have no idea where i could finish the year.

Best Value pick:
Would have to be J.S. Giguere @ 9.11. I've lucked out in recent years with strong 3rd stringers (Gerber, Osgood and Tim Thomas come to mind), and i believe that if Giggy can earn at least a split-time scenario in Anaheim, his value will have already been realized.

Your Riskiest Pick:
David Backes @ 7.11. A lot of good players were around at this spot and i elected to go with Backes coming off one solid season that didn't truly justify a 7th round pick in even my own opinion. But his rare balanced attack of G,A,PIM and SOG's (not to mention temping upside) was what swayed me. There were only a few players that truly fit that mold and while the stud variants like Iginla were already gone, he along with the one i really wanted in Scott Hartnell were surely to be available, so i targeted him along with Milan Lucic and Alex Burrows at this stage of the draft, even though i knew i needed to go all-out in bringing offense to neutralize the Hossa issue. I found other managers were thinking the same way as all four mentioned players were taken within 10-15 picks, so that made feel a little better.

Thought on your own team:
Overall i feel like i achieved what i set out to do. Shore up PIM's, build a deeper D corps than recent seasons, bring in 2 goalies who can keep me in the top 3 or 4 in those stats, and find sleeper offense down the stretch to hold the fort until Hossa gets back. My big weakness is going to be +/-, i truly don't know where that will end up as this was the first year i didn't pay any attention to it during the draft. I'll be happy to finish in the top half and elated to be in the top 3.

Biggest sleeper on your team:
Tim Connolly @ 18.02. A potential point-per-game player in the 18th round? Yes please. How many points over how many games is, however, always the question with Connolly, and im hoping this is the season he stays around.

Thoughts on other teams:
As always liking what CSF did (and what a group of keepers to build around!), and i was wondering who would eventually take Briere... If not him at 11.10, then me right after. filthys team is pretty sick too. Ira's top 6 fowards look very scary. Ugh the more i look the more i question just what the hell i was doing, haha..

Your Best Value pick: I fully expect my last 3 picks to perform well this year, but 17th round, Nik Antropov stands out. If he sticks with Kovalchuk, that is a scary 17th rounder.

Your Riskiest Pick: I think Elias could really burn me. I'm expecting him to come back and be a strong fill-in for 2 positions, but sometimes guys just don't come back right. Then you end up playing and keeping them based on name alone. I drafted enough depth to cover for him, but none with a ceiling like Elias has. If the risk pays off, I will eventually have an abundance of forwards, which will only help me to cure my constant trade itch.

Thoughts on your own team: Love my team. I think I have solid depth everywhere except D. But I'm high on all of 5 of my D-men, plus there's always a passable 5th D-man out there if something goes down. Lundqvist, Vokoun, Quick is more than fine by me in nets. I feel like I got 3 first round picks with Carter, Datsyuk and Parise. Lucic and Clarkson were the 2 big PIM guys I had targeted. And my depth guys seem to be headed into favourable situations.

Biggest sleeper on your team: A lot of candidates, but I think Byfuglien is gonna come out with a pre-incident Bertuzzi type of season. I also see Jack Johnson showing why he was a 3rd overall draft pick, and Bryan McCabe making Panthers' fans forget about Bouwmeester.

Thoughts on other teams: Dienasty's team looks like something I would've liked to draft. Solid picks everywhere. CSuperfreak has another scary looking team. And all the teams look pretty good actually. Should be a tough one.

Teams all look good; Players everywhere that went just before or after (which had me second guessing a lot) my pick.

Best value pick: Dave Bolland at 18.05
Riskiest Pick: I tried to avoid risks but Burrows in round 8 is questionable. I grabbed Samuelsson in round 19 as a handcuff.

My team looks better with Dany Heatley in San Jose; provided Spezza in Ottowa builds chemistry with new line-mates. will it be Alfredson & Cheechoo (I hope so).
Goalies: No Cobwebs, I'm not a leafs fan but I've read a lot of good things re "The Monster" Gustavsson. I'm planning to use him as a # 3 unless Toskala gets injured or outplayed. In that position Gus has better percentages in my book. He may be the difference at the end. Halak is just in case Prices ankle flares. Could be a great pick in that happens.
Defensemen: I think i've got the second best set of five behind LittleM's though Filthy's five look strong also.
Offense: I seem to have more assist potential than goal scorers (other than Heatley) Mavbe Gonshar & Bowmeester will geive me enough to finish high enough it that stat to contend overall. You can't win every stat in guruland.

Other teams: Ira's strengths could also be his weaknesses. Solid players on less than solid teams...his +/- and his goal tending may prevent him from winning it all; Wolfer's season depends on Oshie. If he blossoms look out. Wolfer has solid but not dynamic players they won't hurt, but they won't carry any categories either, except for Thomas in goal. PermDude may win the offensive categories but his lack of upper tier goaltending will hurt. Jimmy Howard may be a difference maker for Cobwebs. If he gets the opportunity and succeeds he could take him the distance. His offense is solid. Philflyboy looks good if his centers perform consistantly. I just don't think that foursome will sustain it for a season. Taxman's first line is great, as is CSF's I think CSF is deeper in lines 2 and 3, and goal tending which will make the difference at seasons's end. the big question for CSF is how will Tavares do on the Islanders. LittleM has a solid team across the board. Not a lot of glitter there but good iron. He'll be in the top half and depending on injuries could be contending, Kipper's and Toskal's percentages may cost him though. Filthy's team looks very nice. he drafted well in support of four solid keepers (maybe there's a reason he drafted last). No glaring weakness so I'll just point out that his RW position is the least strong, Antropov might be the difference maker there. The Dienasty has the team I'd like to have if I couldn't have mine (He was picking my queue continuously) His season will depend on the timing of Hossa's return, which will also affect Taxman because I think it wiil take Versteeg out of the mix. Question: Can he survive the season with just 3 LW's (keep an eye on the waiver wire) I think Giroux will be GOOD and his Goaltending is GREAT.

Order of finish (Not counting me of course)
1. Dienasty
2. CSF
3. Filthy (RocketRichard)

Going into the draft was a bit strange because I protected 2 defensemen and only 1 forward. I would have preferred to protect 2 forwards, but I didn't have the players to do that. Starting with a good goalie and 2 good defensemen made things interesting though, since these postions can be a great way to differentiate my team

Your Best Value pick:Zidlicky in Round 15. With the change in coaches, I see him doing better offensively than last year. I am also very happy with Letang, Dougherty and Stafford at 17, 18 and 19, since I think they are good depth players to pick up so late in the draft.

Your Riskiest Pick: Varlamov in Round 6 was probably a bit of a stretch, but I wanted another goalie. If it was to go by talent, Varlamov would be starting, but having a back-up goalie that makes $4.5 million doesn't make your GM look good, so Varlamov and Theodore will split time during the first part of the season. If Varlamov can bet 50-55 starts this season, I still like the pick. He is also a future keeper.

Thought on your own team: I ended up drafting quite a few younger players. This was not really intentional. As I wrote above, I was not entirely happy with my keepers, so maybe this was a subcontious thought as I made my picks. Another reason is that players like Letang, Stafford, Whitney, Kostitsyn, etc. should be hitting their prime at 24-26. I think my defense is solid and goaltending should be OK, although Varlamov and Toskala both have issues. My season will come down to my kid forwards.

Biggest sleeper on your team: I am hoping that Stampkos will have a breakout year and get me 65-70 points. This would be great for a 7th round pick and his potential can make him the forward keeper that I am looking for. Also, Kariya in round 12 could be a good pick, if he can stay healthy.

I haven't looked at any of the other teams yet, so I cannot comment on them.

I had some good keepers to start:

Chris Osgood, G, Det
Sidney Crosby, C, Pit
Martin St. Louis, RW, TB
Alexander Semin, LW/RW, Was

With Osgood as a keeper I figured I can work on offense for a pick or two before worrying about another netminder.

I went with Daniel Sedin because he was such an assist machine last year from the left side, plus he takes a million shots. But then pretty much all the goalies went off the board! Ryan and Gagne went, but then eight goalies in the next 15 picks. I was sweating bullets waiting for my pick, and ended up with a third-tier guy with Emery.

So much for strategy--it was too early to take another goalie with pick #2, and way too late for pick #3.

Your Best Value pick: Derick Brassard (13.02): If he stays healthy, he's got point-a-game potential.

Your Riskiest Pick: Sean Avery (11.02), by far. He'll pile up the PIMs when he plays, but he's on a short leash. If I can get 30 points and 150 PIMs out of the guy I will only have gotten him 2 rounds too early!

Thought on your own team:: I felt I was off my drafting game in the middle rounds, but got pretty decent offensive players. Goaltending is a hole, I think, so I'll have to watch the wire as things shake out early in the year.

Biggest sleeper on your team:James van Riemsdyk: Very young guy with some serious offensive skills. I kinda wish the Flyers start sucking it up so they throw this guy out there on the ice more often.

Thoughts on other teams: wolfer started slow in the draft, I thought, but picked it up and finished strong. If Backes works out for Dienasty his team will kick ass--even without him his team is strong. Ira kept taking my top queued players, so I have to think he's a genius with slightly better timing than me.

PD I like your emery pick. I thought he'd be off the radar due to his
stint overseas. I was hoping to snag him. I think Philly and Boston
are going to be the top 2 teams in the East this year. Both teams
have a ton of talent and should be frontrunners. If something goes
wrong on the way to the ball I would point to the coaches.

Agreed, Emery was my #2 or 3 ranked goalie going into the draft.
Philly's going to tear it up this year and apparently Boucher's looked pretty shaky.

Thanks. I guess I still think he's a bit of a hothead (and I was looking at 3-4 other guys, all of whom went before I got a pick!)

Brassard was an awesome pick.

Mueller gift wrapped for Taxman in round 20 was tough to see... Actually Taxman straight killed it down the stretch.

Nik Antropov was killer in round 17... I would have taken a shot at him myself if i hadn't made the mistake of ranking him at C instead of RW on my sheet.

wow--Emery pitches a shutout the first time out. Guess it wasn't a terrible pick after all.
