Purely optional but if you would like to post your thoughts on this years draft then have at it.

Your Best Value pick: Jonas Gustavson G 15.08
Your Riskiest Pick: Mark Savard C 6.08
Thought on your own team: No risk no reward. If Savard plays sooner rather than latter its a go for the GoldPucks, otherwise my choice for sleeper will have to step up.
Biggest sleeper on your team: Jordan Eberle C 16.08
Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player: Perm Dude, he took Corey Crawford at 19.04, I was planning to take him in rnd 20, but that would have been before PD's pick.

Thoughts on other teams:

Predict The Top 3: Not including mine
First: Our illustrious commish C. Superfreak. He's got two primo lines and good goal tending.
Second: The Dienasty, although I tried not to leave him anything to work with he always grabbed the guy I was wishing I drafted (odd rounds) or the guy I was looking at (even rounds).
Third: Taxman, his team looks really good and if injuries hurt anyone other than him he'll be right there at the end.

I predict a close race this year....

Pick the NHL Team you think will win the Cup: San Jose. I think a platoon of the A.N. goalies will serve them well, and they have the fire power to score in bunches.

I added a category, sleeper of the draft: M Havlat by LittleM at 14.01

Your Best Value pick:Dustin Byfuglien D ATL
Your Riskiest Pick:Tyler Myers D Buf 8.03 A lot of things I've seen show him regressing in points but I'm counting of him improving.
Thought on your own team:The core of my team is young and I may have some nice keepers down the road. I tried to target second or third year players who could see a nice jump in points.
Biggest sleeper on your team:Brian Elliot G Ott 16.03 If Leclaire faulters he could be #1 on a decent team.
Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player: Permdude John Carlson in the 17 Round. As I stated in the thread I think he is great value here and I had my eye on him for about 2 rounds.

Thoughts on other teams:I like Little M's team such a strong base with Doughty and Green, but not so sure about his goaltending but I can see the strategy. Like Goldcoach's team except injuries are already effecting him with Streit and Savard.

Predict The Top 3:
First: Little M
Second:tommyd
Third:Goldcoach

Pick the NHL Team you think will win the Cup:Vancouver

Biggest Sleeper Tyler Ennis 17.08 by C.Superfreak

First I'd like to congratulate LittleM on winning last seasons RGFHL, well done. I traded away Thornton for Halak and Gonchar to try and catch him, but it was too little too late. Its fun reading last years recap, where I was happy with my draft but in reality it was horrible, If I hadn't got lucky with picking up Kopitar, Howard, and Rask, and some good FAs I would have finished dead last.

Your Best Value pick:
Since I'm a Sens fan my favorite picks are 6.02 Spezza, 10.02 Karlsson, 19.11 Michalek. Well the Karlsson pick was way too early, but I think all 3 will do well, and having Gonchar in the lineup will boost their stats. I also like getting Hemsky at 8.02, he's going to have a great season with all that young talent around him.

Your Riskiest Pick:
14.02 Jussi Jokinen is a risky pick since his success depends on if he'll play with Staal or not. He was named the Canes MVP last season, so it would be unfair if they rewarded him by demoting him to the 2nd or 3rd line. Picking LWs in the middle and late rounds is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get, so Jokinen is a good a pick as any, at least there's some upside there. I could have played it safe with Whitney here, but I was burned by old players last season.

Thought on your own team:
I had a hard time deciding my last 2 keepers. Ryan got the nod over Kopitar because he's a 5-tool player at a shallow position, and I picked Rask instead of Howard because talented goalies like Rask don't come along very often, he's a star in the making, while I read somewhere that Howard's career potential is just a backup goaltender. A turning point in the draft for me was my 7.11 pick, all the stud D-men were gone and the last starting goalie with an upside was about to fall onto LittleMs lap, I just had to do my duty and snag Price. Now I had G insurance and could forget about goalies. After having filled 5 of my forward spots I decided to concentrate on D since it's a position thats hard to get off the waiver wire and I didn't have a stud, so I got 4 D-men in a row, in hindsight I should have waited one round, but the goal was to get 5 D with 50 point potential. The slow draft made me change my pick on numerous occasions, one I remember was that I was set on picking Tyler Ennis at 16.02 but when MPS got a hattie in preseason I got him instead. Since I only draft players I like, I'm happy with my team;-) Its probably the most balanced of all teams, and when Ryan and Little become Cs and Oshie a winger then I'll have some more flexibility.

Biggest sleeper on your team:
20.02 Linus Omark. I simply took the best player available, the risk is that he probably will not make the team. He's a very special player who doesn't deserve to get sent down to AHL, but if he gets a chance to play he could be the steal of the draft.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player:
I was hoping that Dustin Brown would slip to me, but Taxman grabbed him. I was also looking at Kovalev for several rounds but philflyboy got him in the end. Gagne and Frolov were also good picks. Its also become a tradition that CSF drafts the #1 pick in the entry draft, I also found it fitting that Seguin was picked directly after Hall.

Thoughts on other teams:
PD seems to like goons;-)
Why so few Oilers Ira, don't you have faith in them anymore?
Very solid picks all around, should be an interesting season.

Predict The Top 3:
First: tommyd
Second: LittleM
Third: Ira/Filthy/The Dienasty

Your Best Value pick: Scott Gomez 16.07
Quite pleased with where i was able to land him in round 16. He slots in as my 3rd center and if he can repeat last season totals (no reason why he can't) then i can't complain at all.

Your Riskiest Pick: Marty Turco 5.06
Significant pick here in an important round. I still consider Chicago to be the class of the West, but Turco himself a mystery. I'm hoping the slide in his GAA and SV% was more attributed to the team around him in Dallas and not his own skills deteriorating. I was looking long and hard at Vokoun with this pick, but liked Turco's potential to be a top #10 goalie if he puts it together on a better team like the blackhawks. This talk about Corey Crawford has got me a bit concerned though. I had him pegged for the last round as i didn't think anyone else would even be considering him, but i was very wrong.

Thoughts on your own team:
I think it has potential (but then what team doesn't?). Owning Martin Brodeur virtually gurantees competitiveness in all goalie categories which means every year it's down to what kind of skating group i can scratch together. My top 6 forwards should be able to hang with the better teams in the league, and if Evander Kane and David Perron progress as players and improve then they should be able to contribute significantly as well. My D is so-so. I made a priority to extract PIM production from that slot which influenced a lot of my picks, most notably picking Chris Pronger 6.07 over Sergei Gonchar. Well see how that one plays out.

Biggest sleeper on your team: David Clarkson 20.07
Surprised he was there at round 20. He's got a Downie/Burrows/Hartnell dimension to his game in that he can put up enough points to make him a worth while start on any give night, while giving you a much needed infusion of PIM's. The low risk/high reward element given his draft position is what i like the best, though. All that said, however, he will still be among the first on the chopping block if he comes out of the gate slow and another player on the FA wire lights it up early on.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player: Cobwebs - T.J. Oshie 17.11. I really wanted this guy, but the right time to draft him just didn't come up. I ended taking David Perron in the round that i should have drafted Oshie in, but chose Perron instead because of of his LW status and similar upside. Those two should finish with similar production, but having both would have been great.

Thoughts on other teams:
Parity everywhere, toughest one to call yet. Little M will dominate all offsenive categories, but can his goaltending rise to the occasion? The loss of Brian Campbell will hurt Taxman's team, but if he can find a suitable replacement who can cover %80 of Campbell's production, i like his teams overall balance. I liked Goldcoach's team too, but the losses of Mark Streit and Michael Leighton are going to be very hard to replace. Ira's got a lot of balance too. Oh god... I got to stop looking at everyone's team, im getting depressed.

Predict The Top 3:
First: Anyone
Second: But
Third: Me

I haven’t had too much time to really investigate how my team will fit together. I don’t see a lot of players on my roster that made it to the playoffs last year and that has me concerned about how well I will perform.
This year I was looking for balance in my line up across all the categories. I don’t want to fall below the 5 point mark in any one category. I took a beating last year in the +/- category and PIM's and couldn't make any progress. I look to rebound in these areas. I don't think you can win the league if you have a 1 in any category. The level of compete in this league is top notch.

Last year I gave up too early on some goaltenders. The lack of a 3rd goalie to cover an injured goalie severly hurt me midway thru the season. Luckily Pekka Rinne finished strong at the end of the season which helped my stats. Carrying 4 goalies this year should help. I hope my fwds are capable of putting up some numbers.

Did anyone else see the Nabokov release coming? I didn’t. I knew he was capable of taking a night off but I didn’t realize SJ looked to dump him. Oh well.

Your Best Value pick:
Olli Jokinen.
Honestly I hope he can turn it around. There’s a lot of doubters out there but I feel he didn’t get a honest go round in Calgary. He never played a complete season and to add more pressure to the poor guy he’s been coached by no less than 3 different bosses.

Your Riskiest pick:
Leclaire – Injury prone/ it’s Ottawa which doesn’t have a great track record of making goalies feel welcome and a lot of high expectations he has to meet.

Thought on your own team: Boooo, I don't really like it and my confidence is low low low. I wanted balance but I think the team lacks grit...It consists of a lot of players who really need to kick it up a notch. Ovechkin should be fine. Iginla needs to rebound. Toews game might slip now that he has a cup and a shadow of a former team to lead. I didn't draft a stud d-man, they had all gone so I just left them until the last few rounds. It'll hurt me. I really didn't utilize the d position last year. I think was about 50 unused games for that position. If you have 2 studs at that position it can really make a difference. I made the same mistake again so it'll be an issue for me again.

Biggest sleeper on your team: Dan Ellis. He’s been given a shot of a starter in Tampa and they have the team to help him out. Tampa has 2 solid lines, and Kubina. Ohlund, Hedman in the back. If he can put up 25-30 wins I should do well in the goalie categories.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player: The Dienasty - 13.06 Nikolai Zherdev RW PHI, and that’s when I realized I was in trouble. An absolute brilliant pick up.

Thoughts on other teams: The Dienasty takes a year off and comes back stronger than ever. Clarkson and Perron and Pronger for PIMs. Gagne for SOGs, Gs, and 3 solid goalies. Zherdev, Elias, and Hossa. Okay they are strong but they have to stay injury free.
Perm Dude should win the PIM category hands down.
PFB should be better with some key additions. Giroux and Leino have to play hard all season. Kovalev is a big mystery.
Ira will improve. He’s chosen not to draft an injury riddled team. Looks like Goldpucks has picked up from where Ira left off. Tax is also improved and we can’t discount Cobwebs and LittleM. Good trade their with Stamkos. That’s the problem of having a great year. Too many potential keepers for 4 precious spots.

Predict The Top 3:
First: Taxman
Second: Perm Dude
Third: The Dienasty

Pick the NHL Team you think will win the Cup:
East – Washington
West – San Jose

Sleeper of the Draft: I said it once and I'll say it again: 13.06 Nikolai Zherdev RW PHI,

The draft for me was terrible or appears to be terrible. Only time will tell. All I can say is that I may have lost my mojo this year.

Good luck and set your rosters for tomorrow's early games!!!

C. Superfreak knows whats up. I made a point of drafting more low risk players, last season was ridiculous.

Your Best Value pick: 14.11 Jean-sebastien Giguere
Giguere is absolutely money in his contract years. Money. Sorry Goldcoach, but Giggy's taking over Toronto this year. Even if Toronto doesnt win many games this year, their defence is good enough for Giggy to still put up good numbers.

Your Riskiest Pick: 12.11 Jordan Staal.
I actually ha no idea he was injured heading into the season. Since researching it, it looks like it could be worse than originally thought.
Thoughts on your own team:

Biggest sleeper on your team: 17.02 Shawn Horcoff. Horcoff has this thing where he has a bad year, a good year, a bad year, a good year, ect. This year is going to be his good year. He's shown alot of improvement in preseason, apparently he's faster than ever. He's also got a healthy Hemsky and Hall on his wings on the first line and I'm expecting atleast 60-65 point from him this year.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player: phiflyboy. I had Howard #1 on my queue, but had to SETTLE for Kiprusoff ;). Was also praying that Hemsky would make it back up in Round 8, but cobwebs got him.
Thoughts on other teams: Cant say a whole lot that hasnt already been said. If it wasnt for goaltending, Little M would have this one in the bag, but I have a feeling will finish mid range because of it. That Omark pick was crafty, but despite having a terrific training camp, the Oilers management has appeared that their roster was pre-determined, and have made some controversial cuts, Omark included.

Cobwebs, its not that I dont have faith in our guys, Im sure a few of our forwards will surprise a lot of people. The problem is, Im not sure which ones they will be. Its such a gamble right now as they have about 3-4 possible 1st line combinations, and have about 5 players that could score 60+ points, or end up with 30-40.

Predict The Top 3:
First: tommyd
Second: Taxman
Third: The Dienasty
If it wasnt for goaltending, I would have Little M in the top 3.

Pick the NHL Team you think will win the Cup: San Jose
