RGFHL is back for another year. Returning managers please check in. Yahoo! is set up and emails have been sent out. If you did not get an email please email me (click on my name).

*** IMPORTANT**** Outstanding Actions Before declaring Keeper:
Here's where we left things off from last year. We started discussing the possibility of keepers so it's time to take a vote on that item. We had a few votes trickle in but nothing solid.
Other items where tossed around but didn't get a lot of visibility so I have summarized them. I think the best thing to do would be to vote yes or no on the items. If they get enough yes votes then we'd take it to the next stage of debate for implementing the rules and I'll create a new subject for each Item so they don't get lost in this years stuff (some items may have to carry over to next year before implementing).
Item 1 to be implemented this season. Keepers: Vote a,b,c or d.
A) Add an extra keeper for a total of 5
B) Add two extra keepers
C) Add two extra keepers but with a duration
D) No Changes to current roster.
Item 2: Expansion: YES or NO E) Possibility of Expanding the league by two more managers (if there's a demand for it-I haven't seen it).
Item 3: Position Adjustment: YES or NO Eliminate a D position and add Centre position.
Item 4: YES or NO New Stat categories
Item 5: YES or NO Farm team |

Item 1: D (if we decide to make any changes, they shouldn't take effect until next season) Item 2: Yes, if there is interest, but we usually have trouble filling the current number Item 3: No Item 4: No, but I am open to suggestions Item 5: No. Isn't that what the reserve spots are for? We can increase the number of reserves, if wanted.

Checking in for another round RGFHL! My apologies for bailing part way through last season, as a combination of a hectic job related move and a piss poor team caused me to lose focus early on, which initiated a sliding league rank that lead to a gradual loss of interest... The move is taken care of, the piss poor team part ill work on.

With a 10-1 vote I guess this means we can choose our keepers:
Kovalchuk, Perry, Getzlaf, Ward

No word from TommyD. I'll send him an email and see if he's playing this year. I don't think his votes will change anything other than expansion.
Item 1: D (10 votes D one vote A) Item 2: Undecided until TommyD votes Item 3: No (8 No, 3 Yes) Item 4: No (6 No, 3 Maybe, 2 Yes) Item 5: No (11 No)
Looks like we maintain the status quo with the league.
I'm gonna close this thread and open a new one for keepers and draft order etc.

RGFHL 2012 deserves a *BUMP*. It's a tight race to the finish. It's been one of the closest races i've seen since taking the reigns of commish. 1 thru 8 (maybe 9th spot can squeak into the top 3 too) still have a chance for a top 3 finish. Good luck to all managers and a big thank you to you all for staying extremely active.
I participate is other fantasy hockey pools some free and some for big cash payouts. I don't know what it is about this league but it's my favourite.
Trade deadline date is tonight after that it's all about scouring the waiver and Free Agent wire.
Crosby didn't pan out :(
Here's a look back from the recap thread of everyone's projections (those who participated)for top 3: tommyd: First:CSF Second:Goldcoach Third:tommyd
Cobwebs: First: CSF (if Crosby plays 75+ games) Second: LittleM Third: Tommyd
Ira: First: CSF Second: tommyd Third: phiflyboy
The Dienasty: First: CSF (might as well copy & paste this for the next 5 recap threads) Second: Permdude Third: tommyd
C.SuperFreak: First: tommyd Second: CSF (Crosby and Iggy injuries will reoccur) Third: PermDude

Dubnyk saves Luongo's butt! The shutout category is pandemonium!!
9th is officially in the race! For one night at least... 13.5 points separate 1st through 9th on March14th? This is insanity and becoming quite legendary.
......
Now would be a good time to revisit our votes again for future season's settings?
I'd reconsider the idea of expanding, but then we might need to discuss potential category changes, and future keeper amounts, position changes even? Might be just me though...
Can we vote on the draft pick trade option for next year also?
Mostly, can I hear more info regarding expansion? 2 teams, 4 teams? Would it affect anything else? There was more support for it than expected, and I am quite intrigued about the idea with the way our league is turning out so far.

I never got to the recap or voting, but I'd say my final prediction, even with a five month delay, is still not an easy pick. As of now, I'd have to say: (1)Tax;(2)Dienasty;(3)filthy
Sorry to jinx you fellas, if so, I've jinxed myself back to Earth in the process! (You're welcome if I didn't choose you!)

There's no clear winner yet. Every category has available points which can be gained or lost. PIM, SOG, Wins, SV%, SHO, GAA, PPP categories are especially volatile.
The Dienasty is managing his team right down to the wire. He's not going to run out of games, but his goalie categories will determine his fate.
Goldpucks and Tax fighting it out for second. No advantage to either one. It'll go down to the wire.
Filthy has had a phenomenal run and currently sits in 4th with a precarious .5 edge on Perm Dude. Perm Dude's goalies have kept him in the race. I've been unable to knock him off his goalie cats. His GAA and SV% cats are impressively low. He might even pass me for the SO category. With very little margin for gains, he'll be hard pressed to challenge any further. He's done for forward points so no ground can be made up on Filthy. Toews injury really impacted PD.
Ira has plummetted the most and is running out of games to make up ground. He's still in it but he'll be hard pressed for a top 5 finish.
I'm stuck in the middle. Which is a horrible spot for next years draft. Cobwebs and TommyD are breathing down my neck. 2 pts separate 9th from 7th. Hopefully my D strategy will work and I can get some pts and move up a few spots.
Philflyboy, Little M, and Radio are playing for next years top 3 draft positions.
Stay tuned, the positioning changes daily.

I haven't changed my lineup in over 2 months and I'm still 20-25 projected games over. Don't know if we can change it to have more games but it takes a lot of the interest out of the game. At my peak 2-3 months ago I was 30-35 games over but it just hasn't gone down. Just comparing it to basketball where I need to change my lineup daily to remain around the projected games. Not sure if we could add some utility slots for skaters or maybe I'm just lucky to not have that many injuries?

I'd like to see a slight increase in GP for Centers and possibly LW. The talent pool in the NHL is such that we all blow through GP limits for those players and they become somewhat useless the last weeks of the season. Another 10 GP/position might offer some additional flexibility while still retaining the hard limit.
CSF: Yeah, Toews' injury killed me. I had to sub in guys who weren't as good, frankly. I was in third about the time of his injury and that's about all she wrote!

I'm going to be away on vacation beginning Wednesday returning the following Monday, which means ill be missing the final few days of this 2011-12 season and unable to comment immediately on the eventual results.
Whatever happens, i just wanna say it's been another real fun and competitive year in RGFHL! This league has some big time managers, competition is always fierce and any one can win on any given year... I'm leading as of this post but as CSF eluded to previously, plenty of roto points still up for grabs. No lead for any manager has felt safe all year and i don't expect that to change until the very final NHL game this season is in the books.
Good luck to all over these last few days, I'll be back with final thoughts on how i think things shook down for my own team and the rest of the league.

Think I pulled the daily double...err..that would be the Hockey double, having finished 2nd in both ATHS and RGFHL...7 this 2011-2012 season.
Enough about me. This season is about Dienasty who put on a hell of finishing kick. Congrats to the deserving champ.
Several teams looked ready to take it all like IRA and Gold Pucks, but Dienasty kicked it into high gear the last few weeks, apparently taking points away from every team in the league.
Waiver wire was good to me early in season..but could not gain ground in goalie stats. I had enough offense to hang around the leaders, but no way to overcome horrendous early season by Bryzgolav (season numbers turned out Ok but I missed two of his Shut Outs).

From the outhouse to penthouse!
Really surprised i was able to come out on top this season. Credit goes to balanced scoring attack and career years from no less than 6 players, most of whom were late round picks. I was also able to remain remarkably healthy just about from beginning to end, this may have been the largest factor of all.
Other key points to my successful year include a trade that involved bringing in Eric Staal in a risky deal that shipped out a usually reliable Mikko Koivu. At the time i like Staal's goal and SOG bias over Koivu's assist and +/- advantage. Snapping up Johan Hedberg from FA early on was also huge, bolstering my goaltending corps while adding insurance to Martin Broduer. Foolishly dropping but then being able to re-add Matt Moulson and Michael Ryder was critical too. Both players were among the career year group.
Also huge in my win was my D corps. Probably the deepest set of 5 ive ever rostered. Dennis Wideman was a great surprise and Alex Pietriangelo, after a slow start, was an absolute beast for the final half of the season.
What an epic comeback to finish on the podium by filthyrich. Glad the season ended when it did, i would have been worried if it went on 2 weeks longer. Great fight at the top for the final 2 months with Goldcoach, Taxman and Ira.
Can't wait till season!

Congrats--virtually the entire league either led, or was close to the top, for a huge portion of the season. And no one gave up.
Nicely done.

Congrats to The Dienasty. A nice job managing your team and a tremendous run to the finsh. Kudo's to Filthy for his run too. He really showed skills and made some very wise decisions.
GoldPucks and Tax deserve honourable mention too for keeping it challenging.
Thanks all it was an interesting season with some really big number swings towards the end of the season.
