An hour seems tight to me, but I certainly think we should go to a clock of some sort.

Is the commish able to look at his queue and pick for him?

I checked the admin settings, there's no way I can peek into another managers q, and I don't believe I'd want that option.

I'll set up a clock starting Friday so we can move forward.

I did not hear back from Filthy and I'm hesitant to skip his picks since he has two in a row.

It's really my fault for not setting a clock in the first place. Sorry guys.

He said he would.

If he doesn't pick by, say, noon EST, let's have KKB make the picks from his queue.

4 hour clock is on. If nothing happens by noon the system will skip his 11.12 and then I'll skip Filthy's next pick and we'll be moving again.

I hate to do this but if we had the clock operational this week he would have missed both these picks.

Question do we need a weekend clock or is a pause fine?

Weekend clock is OK with me.

Rather than skip him completely, I think we should make an effort to have KKB make the two picks in his queue for him.

might help to send a league wide e-mail announcing that draft has started back up. I've been at computer past 4 hours, but quit checking draft status last night.

Aha, that's how you delay the draft to the max, you set your Q on Auto-Pick with a 4 hour delay;-)

I don't understand why people now have 4 hour delays built into their queue. I was against the 1 hour time limit, but if some people are going to play games, we might have to go to it.

Lol, playing games. I figured i was going to be unable to check in on the draft this evening, so i set my queue up to give me the best chance of making a pick myself when i returned home. And since im position hunting, using an autopick without being able to react to the most recently made picks by other managers could have left me going back to back at the same position, which is not what i wanted.

If people don't like potentially waiting 4 hours for a pick, then need to change it. I sure didn't hear anyone complain when it first mentioned, though.

I didn't complain about the 4 hour limit at the time because I didn't expect everyone to take the full 4 hours to make their picks. If we take 4 hours for every pick it will take another 10 days to finish the draft. This is not directed just at Dienasty. We had a streach where 4 of the 5 pickers took at least 4 hours. It took 19 hours and 37 minutes to make those 5 picks.

So, yeah, I'm saying we need to change it.

I don't know how everyone has access to the internet, I myself do all my picks from my cell. But it would be appreciated if everyone could post here, and inform all the other managers, when they are unable to pick for an extended period of time. The frustrating part of waiting is not knowing for how long.

Cobwebs hits nail on head. The wasted time at the computer waiting for the person in front of you to draft is downright maddening.

What would it take to post a message that I'm with my wife shopping, s/b back @ ??PM. That courtesy would allow others (read that as those following in the draft) could have a life and know when to ck back in.

I've been in a 100 leagues with IRA (I'm not knocking IRA and rate him highly as a competitve manager and totally constant in how he drafts) and I know that he is going to pick when he can pick. End of story. He has never used a queue or left a message, but he has me trained and I know what to expect and thus I deal with it and it never frustrates me.

My problem is when all of a sudden, there are 8 people using that same modis operandi. It's not that it will take you 4 hours to pick that's upsetting...it's that don't leave a courtesy message on this board about the possible/probable 4 hour delay.

And for that reason alone, I am in favor of a 1 hour clock, don't care if it takes you four hours, but if you left a message, then someone might be willing to wait...or perish the thought, what if that caused people to use the queue.

Sorry for the rant (and special apology to IRA for being my unwilling whipping boy and example)...but these slow drafts that become time eaters and cause friction with my family (wife) just light my fuse.

A simple message left about when you can be back would make slow drafts infinately more palatable.

And isn't that before he posted. If he was up at 8:58 EST...that would convert to 20:58, so not an hour, but 20 minutes before his post here at 21:08 and 2 minutes later on Poli board.

I don't keep draftime up--when I'm online, I rely on the emails to tell me I'm up, then I call it up, see who was taken, then select.

No email = no understanding I was up. You certainly could have emailed me yourself, Taxman.

I've been tracking all the picks in this draft with the RotoWire draft software. Just for shiite's & grins, I'll post their projected standings for the league, based on the projections for the players drafted, at the conclusion of the draft. It'll be interesting to see where teams end up after waiver pickups, trades, injuries, etc through the season.

Apologies, I haven't used a queue at all. I've tried to check in as frequently as possible, and when I have I've found that I've had to re-evaluate some of my picks based on the patterns and my needs.

Sorry, first time reading this thread in about a week.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about? Doesn't the season start in about 4 days, and we have 2 rounds left? Excuse me for sounding inept..

RE: Taxman
No offense taken. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but by my count I've surpassed the 4 hour mark twice, no?

Ira, after the draft when all picked players have been added to our teams, the remaining players will be put on waivers for 2 days before becoming FAs. So if we need to pick up a FA before the season starts on thursday, we have to finish the draft at least 3 days before and that's today.

Draft is over...sorta.

Looking at the grid, Filthy and Little M appear to have shorted a RW.... but Little M drafted Parentaeau (RW) and Filthy has (Doan) listed as RW in Yahoo!
But,
Perm Dude just needs to turf his last pick and grab a d-man as he is one short of a full load. Matt Cooke...dman extraordinaire..lol

Did anyone drafting after Perm have their eye on Cookie? Lemme know.

All picks are in Yahoo! I'll open it up tomorrow morning at 9am Mountain Time, 11am Eastern, 10am Central, 8am Pacific, sometime in the future Australian time and after work in Europe.

Staal is already taken by CSF. I suggest that we leave it like it is. We need to enter all players so that the FAs will be available before the season starts.

Trade proposed in the league Dan Boyle for Tyler Seguin. I have 4 servicable centres and Seguin is sitting on my bench while I only have 5 d. Tried to get Letang but I think Boyle will put up similar numbers to last year.l
