This may be a bit premature given the current state of the NHL but.... I'd like to announce that RGFHL has opened for another year. Returning managers please check in. Below is the draft order for this year.
Yahoo! hasn't opened for business. When they do I will set up and send out the emails.
Last Years Crew: 1. Wolfer 2. Little M 3. Philflyboy 4. Perm Dudes 5. Tommyd 6. Cobwebs 7. C.SuperFreak 8. Ira 9. Goldcoach 10. Filthy 11. Taxman 12. The Dienasty
Discussion: NHL STRIKE Please throw out suggestions and options about how we should handle a pool with a potential labour stoppage. a. Draft as usual and hope for the best. b. Delay the draft c. Delay and depending on the length of stoppage take the year off (**mmm no) d --> Other options?
Hope everyone is having a good Summer (Winter for Ira) and will return safe and sound.

Looks good, CSF. We're going to be up against it as it is, so I think the sooner we start drafting, the better.

I would say earlier than Monday. Maybe give until Friday for trades and start the draft on Saturday. It gives people a couple of days to do queues as well

do we have a password to join the league at draft time yet?
i'm in for expansion. we should discuss it post draft for the following year, so we have as long to prepare as possible.
i agree with friday keeper deadline, saturday draft start, and monday start some sort of clock. the queue setting in draft time is great, so schedules should not be a problem at all for a fast draft.

FYI, you can pre-rank players now, and later, when the draft starts, copy them into a queue. Just click on Pre-Rank Players on top of the Draftime page and Select Hockey. It saves a lot of time and makes it easier if you can create your cheat sheet in advance and copy it into a queue in Draftime when the draft starts.

I emailed CSF earlier but we got hammered with a huge snowstorm here today. Been without power and managed to make it to the inlaws who do have power. Should be back in my own house tomorrow some time. Will try and stay in touch as much as possible.

Schultz was my guy...after Shattenkirk was off the board. Picking via a queue did/could not change that result. My current pick quandary is from not deciding which path to pursue
Fred..where did you find a blurb on Brown. I have not seen anything..but haven't looked in LA news papers.

He signed with the ZSC Lions, whose season runs through the end of next month I believe. Information is mostly in German, but I don't see that he'll be able to leave before the end of the season.
Perhaps not--I wasn unsure enough that I didn't even queue him. He's not in camp (yet) I don't believe but I'd be interested if anyone has any other information.
I'm out in NYC almost all day tomorrow, but will put in a good-sized queue in the hopes that the draft won't get held up in my absense. Would like to get one or two more picks in to fill some holes tonight!

Looks like we are moving at a pretty good pace. I think we'll be done before the puck drops on Saturday. I apologize for my lengthy clock times early on.
The autopick queue format is great. I'm able to queue up 4-5 players ahead of time knowing that most of them will get snapped up. Best case scenario is that some are still around for the next pick.
47 picks to go. 40 minutes per pick on average. Kudos to a few of the managers using the auto-draft feature throughout the draft. Your times are awesome.
Just an FYI. I'm entering the picks in Yahoo! as we draft (the first couple of rounds aren't accurate because I used the draftime grid instead of using the draft order section - sorry I had a brain fart).
I expect everything will be ready for Saturday Night.
Anyone up for a Draft Recap? It's kinda of fun to read past years recaps to see how on or off the mark we are.

Perm, you can also check RGFHL Yahoo! league for players. I have it up to date. Players remaining is fairly accurate. Give or take 1 or 2 picks.
Alfie, if he stays healthy will do alright. I noticed you snagged him in ATHS. He's worth a chance when he falls that far down the draft.
If all goes well we could wrap this draft up today. Seems as though the last 3 picks always seem to be the most difficult.

Yeah, was surprised to see Alfie drop that far, I already had 3 Sens and was hoping that someone would take him so that I wouldn't look silly when I got Silfverberg;-) Damn you CSF, you also snagged Bobby Ryan and Hedman when they were on top of my queue:(

An odd discrepancy to bring attention to, many teams (including my own) appear to have gone over the games played limit in certain positions, and had points from those games allowed to be counted towards their teams totals.
Congrats to all on a fun season, and good luck to those still in contention in the final day of action.

That's a Yahoo thing. If you have one more game at a position, but 3 guys play that night in that position, Yahoo counts them all.
A great season. I had my failings down the line, but was excited to find myself on top with two weeks to go. But leaving 8 GP on the table for goalies is just very hard for a team to finish well, and I haven't.
But hey--at least we had a season!

Congrats on 1st Dienasty. And congrats on 2nd Taxman.
A season full of regrets for me, so I'm glad to end up 3rd, but really kicking myself for a couple late moves (dropping Lehner early, and my poor timing on Yakupov at the end), as well as for putting any faith in Kiprusoff/Calgary this year. In past years when I'd luck out by missing shellings when I forgot to set my lineup, this year, I seemed to miss shutouts when I forgot. And without fail, I seemed to choose wrong when I had a goalie decision to make in the first 2 months. I'll chalk it up to lockout rust this year! ha
Another wide open race, not as epic as last year, but it was still an exciting year. Down to the wire. Thanks all!

I think i had one of my worst drafts ever when i look at it now. Very nearly the entire bottom half of it was replaced by the time March rolled around. Thankfully, i hit a few home runs on the waiver wire (Jacob Voracek, Jiri Tlusty, Sam Gagner) and had a couple of beast mode seasons from Eric Staal and Ryan Getzlaf. My goaltenders were an absolute mess, but somehow were able to combine for 12 shutouts and give me that same number of points in that category, which i think is what really won it for me this year.
Taxman was strong all year but the Malkin injury down the stretch really hurt. filthy put on a filthy comeback to finish on the podium, and had the season lasted another week longer, im sure both these teams would have caught and passed me. Respect to cobwebs who had a solid team that got hit up hard by injuries.
We finish with the same top 3 in the same order as last year. I can live with that :)

Same top three as last year a lot like kissing your sister.
Congrats to preseason consensus pick, Dienasty.
After taking a few days to cogitate, I suffered the following revelations:
His win was not a fluke: 1st in Goals and in Shutouts. Dienasty finished in top 1/2 of league standings in 8 of the 10 categories and the other 2 were still in top 3/4ths. Filthy was the other manager with two category wins, but last in GAA and next to last in SV% torpedoed a great season that saw his team rise from the bottom of the early season standings. Cobwebs and Ira each won a category in spite of being torched by injuries to Keepers. I followed their lead. The other category winners were Radio Roberts (probably not on purpose..see below); Little M, won Asst, but only scored well in two other unrelated categories, 2nd in SOG and 3rd in SHO; and Tommyds won SV%, but couldn't sustain his repeated move up in the standings due to losing Anderson for much of season. Had Tommyd had Anderson all season, we might all be complimenting his season's work. Anderson missed 6 weeks (@ 15 games). It is easy to see Tommyd with 4 more wins (worth 3 points) and a lower GAA by 2/10ths (for 2 more points) at the same time lowering Dienasty 1 spot each in Wins and GAA, leaving Tommyd as league winner. (Shoulda, coulda, woulda). Dienasty did and we didn't. Hail to the conqueror.
As the antithesis to Filthy, my world beating start crumbled as the season wore on (and with injuries to Malkin, Sharp and Prust). Couture, Marleau and David Clarkson fueled my early season run. After they fell to earth, I relied on Niemi, smoke, mirrors and 42 moves to try and stay in the hunt, or at least stay relevant. By the way...Dienasty also made 42 moves, thus ending my 7 years alone atop in season Moves. Can't believe he is such a copycat. (and did it so much better)
:<(
RANDOM OBSERVATIONS;
The value of Assists: phlflyboy finished as runner-up in PPP in spite of finishing last in Goals scored.
Lady Bing goes to Cobwebs even though Radio Roberts had 7 fewer PIM. Cobweb's Fwds and D compiled 682 games played, 10 more than yahoo claims as maximum allowed. Radio Roberts left an astounding 82 games on the shelf, not to mention another 34 Goalie games unused. RR still tied or exceeded 4 others in Goals scored.
9 NHL players scored 50 or more points this season. SuperFreaks rostered 3 (all as keepers) yet finished in bottom 1/2 of both G and Asst categories. SF's Overchkin (led NHL in SOG with 220 (in 48 games, had 303 last year in 78 games) 30 SOG ahead of 2013 runner-up, Kane.
10 goalies won 20 or more games, philflyboy rostered 3. Superfreak had the only 20 win goalie w/o a shutout.
What do Cam Ward, Kovalchuk, Spezza, Karlsson, Malkin, Patrick Sharp have in common. All were Keepers, kept by managers not named Dienasty (oh, and that IR thingy). He did Keep Hartnell. Worse, he drafted Halak, but later grabbed Elliott...just in case.
I repeat not a fluke.

Congrats Dienasty, you were the favorite after the draft and lived up to expectations. Well done! My team was riddled with injuries all season, and losing EK and Spezza was devastating. I wish Matt Cooke and the Pens all the worst that I can think of:-( Usually I struggle with my goalies and do well with my skaters, this year it was the opposite. With picking up Fasth I had a tandem goalie handcuff on 2 good teams and was garanteed 96 games, ended up with 97, so I had no need for Emery, and Taxman benefitted when I dropped him. I thought everyone knew that you can get extra games when you max out, managed to get 10 extra games for my skaters and 1 extra game for my goalies. First time that I got more than max at every position:-) But all those extra games doesn't do much when the games are meaningless and players are rested. I was surprised to see CSF struggle all season, was waiting for his team to climb in the standings but it never happened. All in all I'm glad that hockey is back:-)

Congrats Dienesty, another dominating season! You were top 4 in every statistical category other than W and SV%.
Fun fact: Last year I was far and away the last team in the league in +/- with -108 (2nd worst was at -31) and this year I far and away led the league in +/- with +88 (2nd is +55).

Congrats Dienasty on the win. You were the favorite going in and lived up to it. Like taxman pointed out in his post the Anderson injury killed me in W's, GAA and porbably 1 or 2 additional SO's. But what can you do. Looking back on my draft I think it was solid, can't wait until next year.
