0 Subject: ATHS XIII (2014-2015 Season)

It's hockey time! I've renewed ATHS for 2014-2015 (our 13th season) and used Yahoo!'s notification system to send invitations to all managers who participated last season.

League settings are open for discussion until the draft begins.

Pretty content with the league settings but remain open-minded

Tossing out a couple of suggestions for league consideration:

• Swap one of the four D slots for a second Util (recycling an idea proposed last year).

• Allow one end-of-draft replacement pick per team if, while the draft is underway, a manager loses a player to a confirmed season-ending injury. The replacement pick priority order will coordinate with the injured player's original draft position. For example, if Ira loses his pick #44 to injury and Taxman loses his pick #51 to injury, Ira gets first choice of post-draft replacement player. Replacement picks must be identified within 24 hours following the conclusion of the draft.

I am in favor of both suggestions proposed by WCE in post #2

#2:

-OK with changing one D slow for a UT slot

-OK with this, provided that the manager(s) use their waiver wire pick(s). In other words, if one manager has this happen, they make the pick from waivers, then they go down to the last waiver position as a result.

I don't believe this actually will make any change in how things are processed on Yahoo. Players are on waivers for two days post-draft anyway, and making a pick during that time will make a manger go to the bottom of the waiver priority.

I am in favour of the end-of-draft replacement pick.

I am tired of standing up alone for the ever-beleaguered 4th D so I will stand back and let someone else do it this time if he or she wants to keep it.

I prefer 4 D.

I agree with Perm Dude about #2, the waiver position should be affected by a draft pick replacement.

I do not have really strong feelings either way on the proposed changes. If forced to a vote right now, I would probably leave things as they are. I would be open to hearing arguments for swapping a D for a Utility spot, however.

I like having the 4 defensemen.

I am in favor of the extra pick at end of draft if a player is lost for the season.

I like having defencemen, if perhaps they had more value it might be less painful having to have four of them.

Evaluation of responses to suggested league changes:

Swap one of the four D slots for a second Util (recycling an idea proposed last year).
Opinions were split, so the fourth D-man position is safe for another season.

Allow one end-of-draft replacement pick per team if, while the draft is underway, a manager loses a player to a confirmed season-ending injury.
Sufficient support was received to move forward with this recommendation. Conditions will be as stated in post #2 above, and with no loss of waiver position to the manager. League commissioner will process the post-draft drop/add of players using Yahoo's commish tools. Let's hope this safety net won't be needed.

NHL training camps are open and so is our draft room.
;-)

Let's move discussion to the ATHS XIII draft discussion forum at Draftime.

Good luck Ira

I don't think either of us was favored to reach the finals.
