It's back by popular demand. If you write it, It will be read. I must say that I go back and read previous years. It's humbling and humourous and sometimes bang on.

Have at it.

RGFHL Year 11 draft recap

Your best value pick(s): Tommy WingelsWill rack up 45 points, 15 PPP, 230 Hits,180 SOG and a middling 45 PIM. Solid numbers for 10th round pick

Your riskiest pick(s): 3rd round: Patrick Sharp Gambling that he slots with Seguin and Benn on Stars top line and thet he regains his Power Play prowess. He's been a Keeper on my team for as long as I can remember, but his performance last year was disheartening. Taking him early this year is a leap of faith or a disturbing onset of alzheimer's

Thoughts on your own team: In one word or less.. SUCKS
Halek was a terrible first pick, will win games but destroy Save % and GAA. Tried to focus on upgrading D corp, but that cost me in G and A. I s/b ok with PIM, SOG and Hits, but lower third in total goalie stats, G, A and PPP. I'll be very lucky to finish above the bottom 3 teams in league. A really poor draft.

Sleeper pick on your team: 5th Round Sean Monahan Hard to call a 60 point scorer a Sleeper, but like Seguin's explosion last year in his 2nd season alongside Been, I think Monahan has potential to jump his points above 80 with his second year between Gaudreau and Hudler and adding Dougie Hamilton to an already deep D rotation and another weapon for Monahan on the PP.

Sleeper pick of the draft: !st Round Martin Jones by Cobwebs could hold down G position in San Jose for years to come. Jones will have to step up for a suspect defensive corp, but still a possible steal

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted:Radio Roberts

Name that player: 11th Pick, 8th Round, John Klingberg, D, StarsI was set to take Klingberg at 8th pick, 8th round, but remembered losing Roussel last year about this time. Thus I picked Roussel at 8.8, sure that Klingberg would slide 9 picks to me at 9.5. More signs of Alzheimer's.

Thoughts on other teams: Looking at Goalies rostered, it seems that Dienasty and Foot have the most potential followed by Ira and PD. PPP and other scoring categories seem to be led by Foot just ahead of Cobwebs, Dienasty, Filthy, Super Freak, Little M and Radio Roberts. Injuries are going to determine offense standings.

What was he thinking! Worst manager miscue of the draft (let's have some fun with this one):Me..Taxman..taking Halek with 1st round and 5th overall pick

Predict the top 3 mgrs: looks a lot like last year
First:Foot strength thru roster
Second:Dienasty Strength thru roster
Third:I am Canadian Seguin and Girioux..but Dmen could be a problem

Cup Winner:Ducks

The plan was to get multi category players and get a goalie in the first 2 rounds that would start 60+ games and get 30+ wins and not hurt my stats.
Martin Jones (1:09) was the last goalie that I felt comfortable with having a chance of doing that even if he is unproven as a number 1.
I knew that it would be hard to adjust my rankings and ADP when including Hits as a category.

Your best Value pick:
8.02 Eric Staal - counting on a bounceback season and 70+ points, hopefully his +/- won't hurt me.
I also liked getting Green (7.11).

Your riskiest pick(s):
4.02 Bobby Ryan - it's become a tradition having him on my team, time for a fully healthy and 30+ goals season.
10.02 Mika Zibanejad - should continue to improve his stats all around with 50-60 points and especially Hits, may have reached a bit here.

Thoughts on your own team:
In hindsight last seasons draft was a disaster for me, luckely I was able to pick up Kucherov, Tatar, Josi and Hammond to save my season.
I'm very happy with my D, and should be OK in Hits, but there are to many questionmarks with my forwards, I probably lack depth there.
As always goalie stats will determine where I'll finish, Rask and Jones need to step up, but I'm not confident that they will.

Sleeper pick on your team:
12.12 Max Domi - I always like to pick a rookie. Hoping for an increased role on the team that can help me in all categories except +/-.

Sleeper pick of the draft:
14.01 Jonathan Drouin (Tommyd) - a steal if he's healthy and will play with Stamkos.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player:
3:10 Evander Kane (I_AM_CANADIAN) - was on top of my Q, Had to settle for Lucic instead, a player that I don't like but will help me a lot in Hits and PIM, contract year.
6:01 T.J. Oshie (mailedfoot) - was on top of my Q, made me change my strategy and go heavy on D.
11:10 Ryan Strome (I_AM_CANADIAN) - was on top of my Q, should benefit greatly playing with Tavares.

Thoughts on other teams:
tommyd: Got McDavid (after tanking) and Drouin, should finish in the top 6 if his goalies don't implode.
wolfer: Will struggle in Hits, but has some real good value picks in Stone, Klingberg and Leddy.
PermDude: A well balanced team with some heavy hitters. Needs more goalie depth to contend.
Filthy: To many goalies, needs more depth at forward. Othewise a good looking team.
Taxman: Same here, to many goalies, needs depth at forward. Well balanced skaters. Roussel will help your PIM but can kill your +/-.
LittleM: Eichel should help a lot. Is not afraid of picking old declining players if the value is there.
CSF: The best keepers. Always strong in Shots and Goals. Otherwise good value picks. Not sure that Lehner is ready though.
The Dienasty: Good draft but could struggle in Hits.
Ira: Nice draft. Galchenyuk was a great pick. And picking Lehtonen and Niemi back to back was pure genius.
IAC: Stole a few players that I wanted. Well balanced team, defenitely a contender.
mailedfoot: Our reigning champion and newcomer. A solid draft, will contend again this season for the top spot. Carey Price a big factor.

What was he thinking! Worst manager miscue of the draft:
Brian Elliott (1:11), what was Ira thinking, or what was I missing? Picking a not sure #1 goalie in the first round.
It makes more sense now after the first game, but I was surprised by the pick at the time.

Predict the top 3 mgrs:
First: IAC
Second: mailedfoot
Third: CSF

Year 11... Here we go!

Your best value pick(s):
Pretty pleased with getting Scott Darling at 15.08. The back-up goaltender on one of the best teams in the league normally doesn't fall this low, not to mention one that could be slated to see 25-30 games of action. In a year when it seems like 4 goalies to a team is the new theme, im more than satisfied having Darling as my 4th option.

Your riskiest pick(s):
Daniel Sedin 2.05 . Right out of the gate and i felt like this pick was a bit on the questionable side. Had weighed Brent Burns here with this pick, (much like last year when i weighed drafting Burns, although with a much later pick, but with the same result of not drafting him). Daniel's upside to 80pts and a slight hometown bias won over Burns's multi-category mastery.

Thoughts on your own team:
I wasn't too happy with the first half of my draft, but things gradually became easier as the rounds wore on, and i was able to pick up a fair share of players i had been targeting in value spots. I made a point - like every year - to focus on balancing the roster with multi-category guys, but for whatever reason this year things just gravitated towards softer players who had offensive upside (Ennis, Gaborik, Stepan, etc). I like these guys to be reasonably consistent all year long, but itll definitely leave me scrambling to catch up in the other non-scoring categories. My goaltending should be a strong point and i expect it to keep me in contention, so long as my offense doesn't completely implode.

Sleeper pick on your team:
David Savard 13.08 - Targeted him from the outset and was really pleased to get him so late. I think he's in for a nice year, improving on his under-the-radar 36pts from last season along with his stacked Columbus team. He also provides a mix of hits and pim's which my team so desperately needs.

Sleeper pick of the draft:
Without question Jonathan Drouin at 14.12 by tommyd. I became aware but only too late of Drouin's falling draft position. Tons of upside combined with a sweet potential gig along side Steve Stamkos means his first big season shoudl be on the way. Kudos to tommyd for being the first one to wake up and snag Drouin.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted:
See above.

Name that player:
Someone not named Drouin would have to be Victor Hedman. Easily a #1 D on any fantasy team, had for a great discount here.

Thoughts on other teams:
I think IAC is really strong this year. A lot of multi-category depth at multiple postions. Mailedfoot strong again despite drafting dead last. Fantasy outcome is dependent on the success of Vancouver this year with Miller and Markstrom in goal supporting Price. If the Canucks are competent enough and the goalies provide top half of the league stats, Foot's got enough to win again. Cobwebs and CSF are also bringing it this year, per usual. Such top end power from CSF, you can only mess with it so long before it comes around again to bite you for another championship. Filthy's goaltending has the guts to help him keep pace and potentially snatch the crown.

What was he thinking! Worst manager miscue of the draft (let's have some fun with this one):
Permdudes with Cody McLeod (Col - LW,RW). I see what he was trying to do with this pick, i just feel like McLeod could have been had easily 3 or 4 more rounds later, if not even until the last round.

Top 3
3 way dog fight. Yeah, basically the same podium as last season. These guys are on a roll.

1a. IAC
1b. mailedfoot
1c. Cobwebs

Cup Winner
Tampa Bay - Drouin's emergence puts them over the top.

Best Value Picks:
Quickly comparing average draft picks to where I picked them, looks like it might be T.J. Oshie, who is in prime position for a breakout type of year. It could very well end up being Paul Stasny if he can get things going on the Blues top line. Mike Smith was kind of an afterthought when I picked him, but could be a great value if he can bounce back to his form of a couple of years ago.

Riskiest Picks:
Mike Smith probably qualifies here as Arizona doesn’t figure to be very good, so I won’t be able to count on very many wins. Hopefully, he won’t blow up my goalie averages.

Thoughts on My Team:
As it was happening, I wasn’t terribly excited about a lot of my picks. But looking things over now and comparing rosters, I think I should be okay. The tweaks we made to the format (adding hits and a utility player) are going to have an impact and will take some getting used to. The draft results are just the starting point; the league will more than likely be won with in season moves.

Sleeper Pick on My Team:
Brandon Saad who is starting the year as a first line player with Columbus and has breakout type potential after being behind Chicago’s stars the last couple of years.

Sleeper Pick of the Draft:
After last night, I am tempted to say Justin Abdelkader taken by I Am Canadian as a 16th round pick. If Abdelkader sticks on top line and gets power play minutes, he could be awesome in this format with his hits added in.

Stolen Player:
Cobwebs took Martin Jones a few spots before I would have taken him.

Other Teams:
With the changes we made, it’s hard for me to say but basically looks wide open to me. I think IAC has the potential to be dominant.

What was He Thinking:
mailedfoot, who drafted Marko Dano and the next day he was sent to the minors.

Top Three
I Am Canadian, Dienasty, Cobwebs
