Your best value pick(s): Tough call. I think Pietrangelo dropping to the 6th round was a steal. Maybe drafting a 40 goal scorer in the 15th round? We'll see if Anders Lee can still score without Tavares, but even if he drops to 25-30 it's still good value.

Your riskiest pick(s): 8.08 Milan Lucic. Really counting on a bounce back year. If he can get back to 50 points the pick looks good with his intangible categories. If he stays as a 35 point guy the pick was a reach. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him every elses 'What was he thinking?!' category :D

Thoughts on your own team:
I'm quietly confident. Historically I've sucked at this Roto league so my expectations are low. I'm usually lacking heavily in a couple categories so I really tried to balance them out with picking guys like Wilson, Lucic and Brown. I just hope I didn't sacrifice too much offense in doing so.

Sleeper pick on your team: 17.05 Anthony Beauvillier. Has had a lights out preseason playing on the top line with Barzal. Even though his +/- could be worrisome this season, I could see him flirting with 55-60 points.

Sleeper pick of the draft: I feel like there were a lot of good value picks this year but if I had to choose one I guess I'd say Taxman snatching up Thornton in the 16th round. If Jumbo is as healthy as he claims, he could be up for a huge year on the deadly powerplay unit.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted: Toral

Name that player: Alex Debrincat. I actually put off drafting him despite him being at the top of my queue in round 8 thinking he'd make it to my 9th pick and you got him 2 picks in front of it! Well done, I'm expecting big deal things from him this year.

Thoughts on other teams:
Toral: Goaltending will make or break your season. You've got a great team but only one reliable goalie. If Saros can steal starts from Nashville, or if Varlamov can keep Grubauer out of the Avs net, you could be the favorite.

Wolfer: Possibly the most balanced lineup. Tons of offense, solid goaltending, Tkachuk for the PIMs and should walk away with a solid +/- as well.

CSF: More like SuperGoalsFreak. Will run away with the goals category. Like the offense but will need one of Hutton or Lehner to pan out.

Cowebs: Liking the potential. Has to be the youngest team in the league. Not sure if all those players will pop this year, but you never know! Was going to say that you'll have some hard decisions to make after this year for keepers, until I looked at your current keepers!

RocketRichard: Another team with a lot of young blood (and Swedes). Price, Reinhart, Pettersson and Meier/Vrana are all question marks that could propel you to the top if they pop, or be your down fall if they don't.

Taxman: Great center, defense and goaltending depth. The wings might let you down a bit this season though.

LittleM: Great balance. I'm expecting Talbot to bounce back this year as well, and if Crawford returns to form you'll be laughing. Potentially the best goaltending combo in the league, and your LW group is filthy.

Mailedfoot: I respect your decision to have Raantaa as a keeper, I was hoping to sneak him into my lineup at the draft until I realized he was unavailable. He's the dark horse goalie of the year. Very balanced team though I think what you gained in hits and PIMs you may have sacrifice d a fair bit of goals and assists. I think as long as your offense is atleast average you'll have a decent shot.

Dienesty: I really liked the bottom end of your draft. Debrusk, Puljujarvi and Mantha were all good value picks so long as they deliver on their potential this year. Was a good time to gamble and just may be rewarded for it.

Tommyd: That goaltending really worries me, but if Schneider can return to form you'll be fine. Your high end talent has the ability to carry this team to the top if they can all stay healthy.

PermDude: That Perry injury sucks.. You should be one of the top teams in hits and PIMs, and your +/- should be good too

Other noteworthy items: I swear I've been 8th for like my last 3 years, so my goal this season is to hit top 5.

What was he thinking! Worst manager miscue of the draft (let's have some fun with this one): PermDude. Picking Perry as a keeper over Tarasenko or Klingberg boggled my mind, and that was before Perry's recent injury :P

First off, welcome back IRA. Good to have you back. Thanks to everyone for a very quick draft and your patience as I set this up. We managed to complete this draft in under a week. Incredible considering we have managers from all over the globe.

Your best value pick(s):
9.11 Travis Konecny. Projected to be on the first line with Giroux and Couterier. Scored 20 goals in 41 games being on the top line last year. Should be capable of 25-30 goals this year if he sticks with Giroux.

Your riskiest pick(s):
2.02 I would have said Carter Hutton, but you can’t because there was a feeding frenzy of goalies in the 1st round. So there was no quality starting goalie remaining that looked remotely appealing. On paper Buffalo looks good so what the heck eh?
So I think I’ll counter with my picks of 5.11, 6.02, 7.11 A Columbus trifecta of Dubois, Werenski, Atkinson. Who picks three players from the same team consecutively? Me, me, me. Am I crazy? I must be, I didn’t realize I had picked 3 straight jackets in the middle rounds. Last year Columbus was such a consistent team, and they need to take the next step and I’m thinking this year is the year. Here’s hoping that Torts can keep this team rolling. Werenski starts injured, Dubois is getting better and improvements in statsis always good in fantasy pools. Atkinson is the veteran of the bunch and is very consistent who can contribute to the hits & shots category. This team needs to take the next steps but the reason I picked Columbus players is that they all had good +/- numbers.

Thoughts on your own team:
I really liked my last years team and had a bunch of keepers that I hated to let go. Notably, Giroux, Scheifle, Ekblad, & Jones. Then I thought I’d make it interesting a make a trade offer of Crosby for Tavares. The deal couldn’t have done it if my kid was still managing due to possible influential bargaining tactics (raising his allowance, groundings, hard labor) which could set off red flags from the rest of the managers. I really thought it was time for a shake up and with Taveres signing in T.O. I thought I’d take a chance. You can’t get something if you don’t ask. Worst case is a no. Anyway I’m happy with the deal. As The Dienasty pointed out it seems to be a lateral deal. It appears so, but it's hard to make a 2 for 1 deal with keepers because we only have 4 playes to protect. We’ll see how it works out. I win, just because I can cheer for him. As per usual I waited on D men and ran with forwards that can put up a healthy number in various categories, Plus/minus, goals, assists, shots and hits. Not a big fan of PIM's but if I can get 9's in these cats I should do fairly well. Really happy with landing Tarasenko as my first round pick. It really fills the void of giving up Giroux and Scheifle. I think Scheifle will have more upside than Giroux and Tarasenko because Winnipeg is loaded with talent. I always go into the draft believing that if I don’t have to worry about my forwards I can tweak the d and find a gem. There’s always one d man who seems to find a spark but Filthy, Tax, The Dienasty and PD tend to be quick on the FA adds. I may have to adjust my sleep schedule this season to get the jump on them. Goalies are always a bane of my existence in Yahoo! Pools. That's every Yahoo! Pool. I wish they could change up the games played value so that it could be lower. It’s not easy to pickup a second goalie when you draft at the bottom and now that everyone is carrying at least 3 it will make finding another goalie difficult.

Sleeper pick on your team:
So my sleeper pick lands at 5.11, Mike Hoffman. Another 25 goal players with a ton of shots. His off-ice issues caused the Ottawa brain trust to ship him to Florida. And then Ottawa ships off Karlsson? I’d like to be a fly on the wall for what went down in that organization. If he can put his off ice issues aside he should be able to have a great year ahead of him playing with Dadonov, Huberdeau, Ekblad, Barkov….

Sleeper pick of the draft:
I have two sleepers, if Rinne goes down to injury or struggles I think Torals 5.02 of Saros is gonna be huge. I really wanted this guy on my roster. BUT, BUT, what about Toews at 13.08? That’s crazy! He’s coming off a couple of so so years but in round 13 this is a great pick. I was hoping he’d make it back to me but Tax picked him up. Nice picks fellas.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted:
Cobwebs. He’s a Senators fan. What the heck?

Name that player:
1.10 Mitch Marner. The kid is going to be fun to watch this year. Third year player who just keeps getting better. He was hands down the best forward after January 2018 on the Leafs.

Thoughts on other teams:
The Dienasty had a interesting strategy of keeping d-men and punting his forwards with the exception of a Vegas keeper. High roller or snake eyes this year? I can’t judge because this guy knows how to win in this pool. A champion.
Cobwebs Strong in all positions but the goalies maybe suspect. There’s always one manager with with the goalies, but then again I can say the same about my goaltending.
PermDude with a great pick up of Zadorov late in the draft gives him a strong d. might be a challenge to get all the Right wingers into play.
Toral, I didn’t like his keepers but his draft was good with the likes of Scheifle, Patrick, Dadonov, Debrincat, Rantanen. Nylander is holding out and negotiations aren’t moving too fast. Reimer and Saros great backups behind aging goalies. Could be a contender this year.
LittleMs team is sneaky good. Turris underachieved last year and was a good pickup in the 16th round. I think the benefit of first pick helps him out of the basement and into a contending postion.

Other noteworthy items:
PD’s team looks a bit rocky. Keeper of Perry was a bit questionable. Getz and Perry are in the twilight of their careers and they’re no longer prime picks. Bergeron is another aging star that may be susceptible to a big injury this year.
Taxman drafting three oldies in Kovalchuk, Neal, Thornton. A little risky having all three. Goalies need to be healthy. Rinne and Murray have past injuries and Darling needs to rebound from a so-so year last year.
Ira with Crosby could be the piece that moves him to the top and could keep him there for sometime. He’s got depth in all positions. I can only see Chad Johnson being the weak link if a starting goalie don’t live up to expectation.
Wolfer’s nice picks of Larkin, and Arvidsson are really nice and he’s got nothing to lose with the pickup of Parise in the 16th round. Not sure if Hyman is going to contribute. He’ll have no PP time.
Rocket will need a lot of help. Price is a solid goalie but on a crap team. After the fourth round, the quality of picks seems to rapidly deteriorate. I think Elias Petterson on a weak Vancouver team was a bad pick in position 5.07, especially with Sean Monahan, Couture, Huberdeau, Nylander, Dubois still on the board.

What was he thinking! Worst manager miscue of the draft (let's have some fun with this one):
Okay I think Taxman’s 4.05 pick of Ilya Kovalchuk might have been a tad early. He’s been out of the NHL for 5 years and I think his pace and style may not fit with the current NHL style. Considering he was okay in the Winter Olympics, he wasn’t amazing, so I think grind of an 82 game season may take a toll on him. LA is not a young team so they’ll be out of gas by Jan. He’ll probably a mid season drop. 😊

Your best value pick(s): 13th round Jonathan Toews

Your riskiest pick(s): 2nd round Grubauer my third Goalie, but taken instead of available scorers like Kopitar, Rantanen, & Gaudraeu. Grubauer (who will miss defense of Caps) may become the lead net minder in Colorado (made play-offs last year) if Varlemov stumbles again this year.

Thoughts on your own team: An old team susceptible to injury with solid Goalies. Should be near top in PP points, but weak in PIM. I like my team to finish about like last year, top 6 but not top 3. Injuries to Wings and Goalies could change that downward.

Sleeper pick on your team:toss up between Thornton and Toews as solid late picks .. but out of no where type sleeper, I like Kevin Fiala NSH. As a 21 yr old he surprised for 48. As a 22 year old I think he will break into the 60 point realm. Nashville will be a beast team this year.

Sleeper pick of the draft:SuperFreak picked Zack Werenski in 9th round. With Jones scheduled to miss the first 6-10 weeks of season, Werenski is the only known offensive D man for Columbus. Seguin of Dallas had a MCL sprain a few years ago and wasn't right after he returned. I think mid 50's with 25 PP is possible.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted:Historically that would be PD, but this year it is TommyD, although IRA grabbed some early prime talent high on my wish list.

Name that player: Klingberg
I knew he would never have made it back to me in round 7, but I still want to bitch. Klingberg is such an effortless skater with classic toe drag PP shot on behalf of my Dallas Stars. You snooze you lose and I had the hots for Grubauer. Sigh

Thoughts on other teams:

Little M: strong in Goal and at D. Strong forward Keepers and grabbed Johnny Hockey but while taking D contingent missed out on other scoring forwards.

TommyD: I like NJ tandem in goal, strong D and Keeper fwds. Kyle Conner and Alex Tuch, both late round gems could push you up in standings.

Toral: Found scoring deeper in the draft than anyone else. Net minding may be your achilles' heel. Saros is a stud, but since I have Rinne, Saros is doomed to play only 15 games (I wish). We are tied together also with Varlamov and Grubauer. I like the Reimer pick.

Foot: I'm glad baseball season is over, tired of you beating me like a drum. Bad luck with Jones.
Keller a great pick. I am not optimistic about Raanta fixing Arizona Defense. Simmonds needs strong rebound from pelvic surgery.

IRA: Nicely done. Best keepers in league. Best tandem Goalies in league. Solid D. Great scorers though out line up. Losing Wilson for 20 games (about a quarter of the season) is a terrible blow. Hopefully Brown will continue his tear from last year. Really like your team.

Radio Roberts: Another great set of keepers. Best Goalie. Made great scorer picks through out draft. Mikael Granlund and Brayden Point were terrific value picks Defense is weakest position on team (just like everybody else in this league).

Filthy: More good Keepers. Price is on the wrong team, but capable of great numbers giving you two solid Goalies. If your scoring comes through you are going to be hard to deal with. OEL is going to hurt your +/- numbers, but a solid team with those two caveats.

PD: You lost Perry but drafted his replacement Kase who is out now with a concussion. No Luck!! Nice job drafting Giroux round 5, then taking 2nd goalie earliy in round 6.

Cobwebs:Also great Keepers and then getting Marner. I don't know about King Henry. His time may have gone by .. but then I drafted another dinosaur, Kolvachek. I like late pick Heiskenen.

SuperFreak: Great keepers as always. Strong scorering drafted through out. Hutton is kinda like Price, good goalie on poor defensive team.

Dienasty: Why waste the time, this roster will be turned several times before end of season. Can't seem to accomplish much but winning. Actually had great draft from south end picking up great scorers through out. Will have solid Goalies if Luongo can stay healthy.

Other noteworthy items: Time per draft pick in this league is amazing. Great group of managers.

What was he thinking! Worst manager miscue of the draft (let's have some fun with this one):
Me ..for all draft picks. Just no visible plan.

Predict the top 3 mgrs:

First: Dienasty .. wins via tie-breaker (probably is no such thing in roto league)

Second: Ira .. this could be the year

Third: SuperFreak and Filthy Rich

It's not easy to be Sens fan these days:-( Hoffman and EK traded for scraps. That said, there are a lot of talented prospects that
are waiting in the wings, but I don't see Ottawa making the playoffs anytime soon. My fantasy team could benefit from
the EK trade, Jones should be better and EK should also thrive.

Your best Value picks:
1.10 Mitchell Marner - expecting a monster season from him with Tavares on the team.
10.03 James Van Riemsdyk - back in Philly, with more ice time comes more points. And now he's injured:-(
14.03 J.T. Oshie - 50+ points in the bag, nice security pick if my rookies aren't good enough.

Your riskiest pick(s):
3.10 Evander Kane - Injury risk and who he plays with combined with off-ice issues makes him iffy.
4.03 Rasmus Dahlin - a little early for a rookie D-man, was going to pick Krug but he had injury problems. Will he live up to the hype
and how bad will his +/- be? At least I have a new shiny toy to play with this season;-)

Thoughts on your own team:
I usually like to pick a couple of rookies every year, but this year I've picked 4! And even if they exceed expectations, I won't be
able to keep them since I already have 4 strong keepers. What was I thinking? I'm a fan of junior hockey and like to follow their
development, and I guess that it's part of the fun picking players with a lot of upside, not knowing how they will succeed in the NHL.
Luckily I have some insurance in Oshie and Horvat. Overall my team looks strong in all categories except maybe hits. As usual my
season will be decided by how good my goalies are. Lundqvist is old and in the middle of a rebuild, but he's healthy and will
start 60+ games.

Sleeper pick on your team:
12.03 Elias Lindholm - still has some untapped talent, and if he can keep his spot playing with Monahan and Gaudreau, he could be sneaky good.

Sleeper pick of the draft:
7.03 Nugent-hopkins, Ryan (Toral) - will this be the year for Nuge, playing with Connor all season?.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted and name that player:
5.07 Elias Petterson (Filthy) - Should be really good.

Thoughts on other teams:
LittleM: Strong team, good goalies, but not so good in PIM, hits, and +/-.
tommyd: team looks good on paper, should do better this season.
Toral: lacking some star quality, but I like the Nugent-Hopkins pick.
mailedfoot: has some nice sleeper picks, +/- not looking good.
Ira: very strong draft, and with Crosby on board, my pick to win it.
wolfer: good goalies, strong D, needs more scorers, a contender this season.
Filthy: a balanced team, I like the Petterson pick a lot. Should do well.
Taxman: also a balanced team. Price needs to bounce back.
Perm Dude: not so balanced, not liking the goalies and D so much, and with Perry out will need some luck.
CSF: Always strong SOG, lacking in PIM, otherwise a strong team. Needs his goalies to be good to win it.
Dienasty: defending champion, always a contender, nice draft, not sure about Luongo though.

Predict the top 3 mgrs:
First: Ira
Second: LittleM
Third: wolfer

Early results of my draft recap .. have already cut Kevin Fials (my team's sleeper pick). My "solid" goalies aren't with Murray giving up 11 goals on 1st 66 SOG and Rinne already on IR for ???

Early in season, but already feels like it's going to be a long year.

Time flies when you're having fun.
Better late than never.

Your best value pick(s):
At time of draft, and even in hindsight, Backstrom in the 8th (4th round after keepers) is a real steal of a pick. And in general, the keeper options I ended up with were no brainers, great value added from that alone.

Your riskiest pick(s):
Looks like Carey Price on the surface, considering he was my first non-keeper pick, and goaltending is extremely important in this league. But I really only liked Murray as an alternative, and had I picked a forward, I would be filling my 2nd Goalie spot (almost said G-spot. gotta include now, the thought was formed, and it gave my immature sense of humour a chuckle...) with the 24th goalie rather than the 18th goalie, so I figured I'd roll the dice on a guy that has the skill but has health question marks and a questionable roster in front of him. Ranking Price ahead of Murray might be the turning point on my whole season when the smoke all clears.
However, the real risky pick to me, is Elias Petterson. Especially in hindsight. Talent is there. Will he survive is the only reason he was available to the Canucks, and will likely be the question that follows him around for his early career, which stands out even more after the early season 'ragdolling' incident.

Thoughts on your own team:
Love the core.
Love the goaltending options to start with.
A solidified starter on a likely contender, a wildcard talent on a shaky team, with 2 backups that have some upside in my mind.
Queued up too many defenseman, but that will even out over time.
My late picks are generally crapshoots.
My middle picks are generally crapshoots, who am I trying to kid here.
Been struggling with assists and power play points in recent seasons, and liking the results after an intentional focus on those categories.
Forsberg, Voracek, Backstrom and Hertl seem to have high upside for me, in addition to Benn, Pastrnak and Burns that were keepers.
Tried to focus on grit to fill out the roster but already seeing a lot of turnaround trying to find that missing ingredient.
Triple Ek's on D has some upside but Ekblad is starting to lose his appeal. Ekman-Larsson and Ekholm have been playing to expectations so far. Feeling strong about Ellis putting in a good season. Starting off well.
Rounding out the forwards is a work in progress, but the core is top notch in the early going to allow for some added focus to grit with the filler portion of my roster.
Feels like a contender. Knock on all the wood...

Sleeper pick on your team:
Elias Petterson. Polarizing among the draft reviews, and among the so-called experts around the league. Top player in Sweden last year as a youngster, and showed some great skill in preseason, so he entered the radar immediately after Dahlin was picked. Glad he made it back to me. Even with the early season concussion scare. Mad skills!

Sleeper pick of the draft:
Going backwards through draft results, the first names to stand out from my predraft wishlist are Gallagher and Brown in the 17th. I like Dylan Larkin in the 13th to step up. Mark Stone in the 12th. Provorov and Keller in the 8th as breakout picks.

Name the manager who stole the one player you had really wanted:
Ira or The Dienasty.

Name that player:
Dubnyk or Boeser.
Would've preferred Dubnyk to Price if I had the choice. Should've tried to tank late last season to get a better shot in the first round. Prefer Dubnyk's team to Price's. But I feel that Price is more talented if he could stay healthy. (Laugh at the size of that IF, fair game!)
But the real player that I think I felt most let down when he was picked was Boeser. My brain took a strong override over my heart in round 7 and Voracek was ahead of Boeser in the queue. Tried to trick my brain into choosing Boeser as a keeper even further back. Just not enough of a stat filler compared to Pastrnak, Forsberg, or Voracek was the big deciding factor that kept him slipping. For about a month before he was injured, Boeser was in this zone though, where it felt like he'd be a real strong candidate for a top 40 season, and consideration to bump out one of my keepers. Pastrnak had a couple games last year where he was bumped down and lost minutes, so I almost went with the gamble, but just couldn't pull it off. Felt like I could have my cake and eat it too. But Boeser was snatched up. Lead to bumping Petterson up in my queue though, so that could ultimately be a huge win. To be determined!

Thoughts on other teams:
I feel like Tommyd, cobwebs, and Ira had the best keepers to start out with. With Dienasty, littlem, ira having strongest starts to the draft. I feel the later draft picks are a huge crapshoot, so it's hard to evaluate.

Other noteworthy items:
Well oiled drafting machines around here!
Noticed a flag on browser view that Yahoo has changed their default league settings from PIM to HITS. Not a huge window for discussing changes, but I'd expect no harm in making any changes for 2019 as long as we decided prior to end of November?
I'd lean toward remove GAA, PIM and add PPP if I had all the votes. Not heavily campaigning though, enjoy the current setup. Just throwing the thought out there!

What was he thinking! Worst manager miscue of the draft (let's have some fun with this one):
Swapping out Mike Reilly for Okposo!! Hahah unlikely, but wouldn't that be funny.
I found that Yanni Gourde being selected as a keeper was surprising. I didn't look at the alternatives though. Not easy to coordinate a trade offer prior to draft.
Also, made me wonder whether I'm missing something in my own preparations.

Predict the top 3 mgrs:
First: Ira
Second: Cobwebs
Third: Dienasty

Stanley Cup Winner:
Last year, I picked the Capitals?! haha.
Blind squirrel finds nut...
Rod Brind'Amour + Carolina Hurricanes = Magic. That's my pick this year.
