Roster positions to draft:
3 C, 3 LW, 3 RW, 5 D, 1 Util, 2 G, 4 bench.
Miscellaenous positions:
1 IR position for IR players
1 IR+ position for day to day, and out type players.
Draft Order is the reverse of the final finish from last year.
Forwards/Defensemen Stat Categories:
Goals (G), Assists (A), Plus/Minus (+/-), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shots on Goal (SOG), Hits (HIT)
Goaltenders Stat Categories:
Wins (W), Goals Against Average (GAA), Save Percentage (SV%), Shutouts (SHO)
Draft date and keepers date TBD.

The start of playoffs and the start of World Juniors had some worries but ultimately went pretty smooth.
I think the excess caution right now is a good sign. First couple weeks probably sees some games PPD if it's anything like MLB and NFL. Still workable. Ending regular season prematurely clearly not out of the question, but hopefully we don't have to worry about that this time around. Timeline is getting close and it seems pretty likely that we'll at least see majority of teams in action this week.
Managing covid spots via FA doable as well. Similar level of effort required to monitor/audit than using IR+ spots? If we end up with 24 guys on FA that are technically protected could get a little tedious. But I'm cool with whatever and willing to help with audits either way.
Main question for now would be whether we put a limit? No limit seems most fair. Which makes the FA option most practical?
With the baseball Covid spots, it was easy enough to audit based on checking rosters of teams that made an add without a corresponding drop, in addition to loading up the rosters page and doing a quick minute scan once every week or two.
One nice thing was that we were able to add an extra Covid spot during the season for baseball, not sure if Yahoo allows similar changes with IR in hockey, but it was nice that we were able to adjust once a few teams were dealing with PPD games at the same time.

Thinking out loud - we could add an additional two or more IR (or IR+) spots just for COVID inactive players, and manage that via the league Yahoo message board, or here at the forum. Manager who makes a move just announces so everyone knows. I feel IR would be easier to manage than FA as long as we give enough slots to use. Maybe up to 5? Or more?
Next up would be how we designate a player as officially "out" and can be moved to said IR spot. I'm seeing different terms used like "unfit to play" that doesn't always explicitly say it's Covid related. I guess we could go with an honor system here. Also, the IR'd player must be dropped directly back for the player he was replaced with? Just flowing some considerations...
Lastly, im behind adding BLK's but also keeping PIM's. One additional forward/defense scoring category would help properly balance out the weight that goalie categories have right now, which is disproportionate to the roster make up.

I believe IR+ for COVID-related actives would be the way to do it.
If you wanted to have some control over its use, you could follow the example a system Guru used to use in RIHC (Basketball) to regulate short-term absences. An owner would have to cite a written source at the time he used COVID IR+. Like this:

That may be too onerous for people to want but I simply mention it as a possibility.
Lastly I presume that when you are talking about adding Blocks you are talking about for next year, since we have already drafted based on no-block expectations. I would be fine with Blocks -- next year.

I agree that it would be nice to have some way for our teams to adjust to covid outbreaks in the NHL. However, I don't know what the best way to handle the situation is because I don't know a few things.
Does the NHL publicize players testing positive to covid or is it listed as a upper body injury or other vague term?
How does Yahoo handle positive covid results. Does it treat it as IR or IR+ or something else?

My thoughts.
There are a lot of unknowns and possibly privacy issues regarding Covid outbreaks. It all depends on how the NHL reports covid.
Considerations:
If possible we should use our bench players.
There has to be some evidence of a player being out due to illness.
There will always be a bit of lag with Yahoo updating the status of players so there is not much we can do if Yahoo doesn't change a players status.
How to monitor add/drops for game cancellations and rescheduled games?
I also think we can monitor this as a collective rather than an commish decision.
And it appears Yahoo may allow us to expand the IR and IR+ positions and even NA. Adding a couple of these spots should suffice. As long as we all know that these are spots reserved for Covid related issues.
I have added Taxman as co-commish and we should be able to make any necessary adjustments or communicate an issue if we see them.
Maybe add one more commish and go as a 3 person committee?
Should be interesting. It's a bit of a pilot year to see what can and can't be done with Yahoo.

Yahoo shows already Toffoli picked before Toral, but I can not find which roster he is on. Yahoo wil not let me assign him to Toral.
I'm stumped as to what to do...If Toral picked another player maybe this gets sorted when league is activated.

Did you know:
Yahoo has 2 Erik Gustafsson D for PHI.
Different birth year.
The one in draft results last game action was 2013-4 season. Yahoo rank 350 NA.
The active Erik yahoo rank 362.
Why would Yahoo have the other one available? And why would they rank him higher?

Cobwebs, probably a weird coincidence. Honestly I'm not stalking you.
For the Toffoli issue - I think it was because I removed him from the 14.01 draft pick. In Draftime the 14.01 pick was for Grezlcyk and in yahoo it was entered as Toffoli. I went with the Draftime pick as the official selection and removed him off the Yahoo roster. Maybe that's what did it.
All good I was able to assign Toffoli to Toral.

Thanks Taxman. Awesome job keeping up with the Yahoo selections. You were always one step ahead of me with the Yahoo updates. I tried to keep on top of the draftime position updates but you were also one step ahead. Much appreciated stepping in and filling the void. I have no idea why you couldn't find Toffoli. I would think you have the same permissions as the commish.
LittleM, you have been added as co-commish as well.
I'll open up the draft TONIGHT. I have adjusted the IR, IR+ and NA settings to accommodate covid related absences. I'll send out a Yahoo note letting managers know these spots are for covid outages only (Not sure how many of us still frequent this site).
As of now we have 1 additional ir, ir+, and an NA spot. Only to be used for COVID. I will allow you to adjust the players on IR and IR+ if Yahoo is slow to react. Don't use the extra spots for anything other than covid issue. thanks.
I think enough of us follow hockey at any one time to know who's out and for what reason.
Good job on the auto picking everyone. I had a couple of hiccups with it (forgetting to set auto pick duh).

I have a incident ticket opened with Yahoo to see if they can set the number of games to 56. Currently the setting ranges from 65 to 82, with a no maximum value as well. Weird.
I'm hopefull they can do something or else it's micromanaging 101.

Please check your rosters immediately. The extra 3 spots of IR, IR+, NA spots are for covid-19 related outages only. Some teams have players with non-covid injuries occupying these spaces. If you have a player occupying one of these spots and they are not in a covid-19 protocol situation you need to move the player to your active roster and bench him immediately (or drop them). Please check your rosters and correct this as soon as possible.
Please note that these spots are to cover the covid-19 player issues only and the player that has been picked up should not be held long term on your roster. This spot is not to be used to switch out a stud with a dud. These spots are used to remain competitive while your core players are on the sidelines.
Do not be using these positions to improve your team. We have 4 bench spots for this purpose.
Here's a few examples. Please review and share your thoughts. I can't cover all scenarios. Just use common sense when moving your players to the covid IR spots.

Situation #1
example:
Ovechkin goes on covid-19 protocol
He can be moved into the extra 3 spots (IR, IR+, NA).
To cover Ovechkin I can pick up any player, eg. Voracek.
Voracek lights it up, Strome sucks.
Ovechkin clears covid
Strome still sucking
I return Ovechkin to my roster
I must drop Voracek I should not be dropping Strome.
Voracek is a covid-19 cover only.
I can drop Strome and put in a waiver claim for Voracek.
Situation 2:
You can't trade a Covid cover for a someone else active player.
Situation 3:
You can't drop a player you placed on covid IR and keep the replacement.
Replacement has to be dropped and go through waivers so the rest of the league has a fair chance to claim him
Any player you place on covid has to return to your active roster before you drop them.
The league has to have a fair chance of putting in a waiver claim for those players.
If they clear waivers it's all good.
If you fail to update your rosters, the commissioner has the ability to adjust your rosters.

I misread the above post. Reading the thread on the league site, I now see that it is only the extra IR an IR+ spots that are COVID-restricted.
I dropped Matt Dumba (IR) and Jack Campbell (IR+) who are eligible for these designations. What's the chance of the commissioner adjusting my roster to give me them back?

Yahoo designates the covid case as 'O' which is only eligible for IR+.
Team with 3 players out as 'O' should only be allowed to use the 1 bonus IR+ spot for one of these players is how I'm reading this?
I don't think that helps make anything more fair.
I'd rather see an option where the 3rd player can be stashed somehow.
Putting the 2nd 'O' case back to bench seems opposite of the goal here.
So I should have dropped Chara when Slavin returned, except that's when Hughes went on the Covid list, so I should have had to drop Chara, and pick up a different player to be Hughes replacement?
I added Bertuzzi to be my legit IR+ guy, but then got carried away and put Landeskog into his spot to add Karlsson.
I think I get it now.
I'll drop Chara and Karlsson. Landeskog back to bench. Someone new to be Hughes covid replacement. Bertuzzi back to the legit IR+ spot.

Bertuzzi is now NA instead of DTD. Dropped again lol. Can't really afford bench.
I'll either be looking to trade Sorokin and Lafreniere due to the tight bench or possibly trade my non-Pastrnak/Stone guys for more duds if anyone wants to get the jump and send any offers before I get the time to look around.
Will the taxi squad thing continue going forward? If so, an NA spot for future years should be discussed.

I have an interesting scenario that I’d like to run by the Commish.
Claude Giroux and Joel Kiviranta are both on my team. Kivirana was on IR and had just been activated today by Dallas, losing his IR tag. Incidentally, Giroux today had just been placed in the COVID protocol list.
I’ve since moved Giroux to my COVID IR+ slot (I have another player in my “normal” IR+ slot) and activated Kiviranta into my active roster using that free’d up roster spot from Giroux. Once Giroux is back active, do I need to drop Kiviranta? Or can dispose any player I chose since both guys were on my roster already and Kivi wasn’t technically a direct replacement pick up from the FA/waive wire for Giroux?

TD, it's fine if no player was never a covid pickup. If a player was added to cover a covid related issue, you'll have to return him to the FA pool when everyone is healthy. Otherwise, last years rules apply, you can drop any donkey on you roster.
But then again with the covid carousel you may be fortunate enough to move another player to the covid IR positions and keep the player on your roster.
i'm going to need a decision tree visio diagram with all the scenarios.
or and ITDT (if this, do that).
I'm feeling like a PGA tour rules official with all these covid scenarios.
Guys, I know it's complicated and it's really a weird year, but just try to remember that we have 3 extra injury spots for Covid.
Don't sweat about the technicalities between IR+, IR, NA. I simply added these spots because I had no idea how the NHL and Yahoo was going to treat the situation.
Using the extra 3 spots gives each manager the chance to field a complete roster without decimating your core roster.
Another scenario - if all your roster players are healthy and then for some reason 5 players get designated covid, you can use all 5 injury spots to cover those 5 players.
Just remember to drop those 5 adds when each players comes off covid.
Another scenario which is valid.
Player A gets covid status. Move Player A to an injury spot.
Pick up Player A.1 to cover Player A.
Player A returns, Player B gets covid
You can keep Player A.1.
Player A.1 has to return to the FA pool when your players are healthy and you have to move them off IR.

filthy, it really doesn't matter how you use the injury positions for covid. If your entire team is physically healthy but they get shelved for covid you can put as many players listed as covid in all of injury spots.
It's the non-coved injuries above 2 that can't use the extra spots.
Player A upper body - IR, IR, IR+, IR+
Player B lower body - IR, IR, IR+, IR+
Player C upper body - bench
Two go to non roster spots (IR, IR+, NA) and one of those has to ride your bench (if you plan on keeping all 3).
I hope we never have to go through another pandemic.
Everyone is doing a great job, but once in awhile i'll do some spot audits to make sure everyone gets a fair shot of FA's and are using their roster spots correctly.
The North division teams have had only had a few covid outages. The US divisions are having some challenges and some teams may not finish the 56 game schedule.

The NHL has adjusted their schedule to play make-up games after the original May 8th season end date. Yahoo has added the option to extend the scoring through May 19th.
Currently, our league is set to end tomorrow. Should we extend the end date to the end of the NHL season?
I would vote to follow the NHL and extend our season.

We have problem. Playoff games will start before the regular season is over, the first playoff game is tomorrow. Stats from playoff games should not count in the standings, but I don't think that Yahoo can separate them.
