Subject: Latest Hockey Statistics for Swirve and SW

I have updated the statistics to include Swirve hockey data. The new statistics program is BETA, it should work, but no guarantees. The link is http://www3.ewebcity.com/swp/statsv.asp. This is different than the normal link, which I will change onece I am sure this all works.
You may switch between SW and Swirve (Swrv for short) games. I do not have 30/15/7 day data for Swirve just last years data, if you change to Swirve, make sure the first SWP period is YTD, the 2nd is 30 day (these are the defaults). If you do any thing else, you will get SWP not Swirve Points (SVP).
One interesting and potentially useful added data I have is the a Price comparision feature between the games. You may change Col B. to Swrv-SW Diff this is basically a ratio of the two prices which is normalized so that the ration should be around 100. If it is much less than 100 the player is somewhat cheaper in the game you are looking at, if it is much greater than 100 he is relatively expensive. The question of course is he a bargain in the one game, or overpriced in the other.
Please note the scoring systems are different, but for Skaters, they come out relatively even (generally slightly lower for Swirve), but small variations might be explained by this.
Be aware that Goalie scoring is different between the games. Wins is SW are 50, in Swirve they are 70. Ties are 25 in SW, 0 in Swirve. Losses are 0 in SW, -30 in Swirve. So goalies on losing teams do a lot worse in Swirve, hence goalies who didn't win many games last year may have gotten a lot of points in SW, but very few in Swirve. Just one extreme example Robbie Tallas got 300 SWP in 27 games, but he got -150 SVP.
Well fool with it and let me know, I'm half asleep and not sure this all makes sense. If not I will try a new explanation tomorrow. |

Do not use the link above, it is no longer there!
Use the regular stats link, it contains the Swirve options mentioned above. Also note I have my first crack at a new Assimilator working. It should load much faster than previous versions.

UPDATE - Do not expect stats tomorrow morning, my expectation is that I will have trouble even getting stats. It is possible I will have stats late tomorrow, but it may take a day or two.
In any case, there is probably not a lot of analysis you can do until a couple of games are played.
Expect an update on progress by late tomorrow.
My plans: I will atempt to track SWP and prices on a daily basis. I will also track Swirve points, but I doubt I will track prices daily, it is a lot of work, the interest level is lower, and Swirve prices are less important on a daily basis for several reasons. I will probably track Swirve prices once or twice a week.

Philliephan, have you had any trouble with ie 5.5 and your assimilator? I can't seem to make it work either at home or at work. I use 5.5 in both places.

Mostly have used IE 5.5. When does the problem occur? There are a few bugs in it, (it doesn't handle pressing assimilate button with no players very well for one, sometimes it doesn't show last player selected the first time you press assimilate). Let me know what is happening in more detail.

When I click on BETA 2000-01 Assimimlator it gives me a grid (line down left/center) and tells me there are erros on the page. Nothing else happens.

hey p-phan, do you still happen to have the master list of players stats and prices I loved so much last year? Or has that been left for dead since i'm probably the only one who liked it?

Charli - not sure what is happening to you. Is anyone else having Charli's problem starting the Assimilator? (post 5)
J - Are you talking about the text file?

No problem when I tried it, though I don't see the button to save the roster.
Charli, it used to hang on me all the time. Did you shift reload to call a fresh page from the server?

I am thinking of creating a text file of some kind eventually. Might be a week or so. You are not the only person interested.

philliephan - I interested in accessing your stats via an Excel macro but I'm missing a critical piece of information. I'm not used to working with an asp page and would like to sort the stats by name before grabbing the data.
If I open the stats page with a File Open command, such as : Workbooks.Open FileName:="http://www3.ewebcity.com/swp/stats1.asp"
I only get the first 100 players. What parameter, if any, can I pass to sort the list by name so I can get all of the players?
I hope to use your stats extensively as I play my first full season of SW Hockey. Your stats are great!

Charli, can you bring up the RotoGuru's assimilators? If you never have tried, go to the football boards and under Other Football Pages, try the assimilator there, just to see.
