I am going to get this thread going early this year so we don't have anybody saying they missed signups.
Guru has offered to run the spreadsheet (assuming there are minimal changes to last year's).
Last year we had 8 teams per GMD team. I am inclined to stick with that, although as many as 10 can work. Let's wait and see how signups go first.
Once again we will have managers. I am going to take 1 of the 4 teams again. I loved having a team and I want to defend our title. I am gonna leave the other 3 teams up for grabs right now.

keep the signups coming
I've decided on a schedule for the GMD based on a suggestion from a fellow Gurupie.
Because we have a ton of unknown managers signing up its best if we give people a chance to prove their skills. So the first couple of weeks will allow managers to get their feet wet. It also will allow Guru to tinker with his spreadsheet if necessary.
So here's the schedule:
11/24 - 12/7
12/8 - 12/21
12/22 - 1/4 (this way managers can make changes before Xmas and after New Years)
1/5 - 1/18
1/19 - 2/1
2/2 - 2/15
2/16 - 3/8 (this is three weeks to compensate for all the games lost around the All Star game)
3/9 - 3/22
3/23 - 4/5
4/6 - 4/20
I will have the 3 other managers picked soon. Signups for GMD will close NOVEMBER 11TH. That way we can begin to track every team.

Oh, and if anyone knows how to get in touch with Gurupie "jeff" please let me know. He's the guy who wanted to sign up over and over again last year after the deadline and I would like to give him a chance to do so before signups end.

This team is listed with Dr. D. as the owner, but I manage it, so it is not two teams run by the same person. If that isn't OK, I understand. I played last year as Robert 4 (I think that's the team I had in the GMD).

Hey Farn,
With so many new people as you have pointed out, do you think there is any value in explaining what GMD is/all about. If there are new people do they really know what they have signed up for? Then again, maybe everyone knows what GMD is already.

GMoney, it never occured to me people would sign up for a league not even knowing what it was about.
But anyway, here are the rules:
The league is scheduled to start on the 24th. My thought is to have the draft starting Saturday the 20th. Gives us 4 days and allows us to work around people having things to do on the weekend. It will be a slow draft conducted on the board. Each manager (smallwhirled, Piccolos, Gary Dotson, and myself) will choose 7 other teams along with our own to complete his squad. He must draft his own team (even if it stinks).
The idea of the league is to try to have the 8 teams on your roster put up as many points as you can over the 2 week period. Whichever team has the most for that stretch wins the session. Typically winning a session is good but the team that scores the most points for the full season is seen as the winner.
The schedule for the league is posted above. Each session will end on a Tuesday. Wednesday morning I will post a new thread to allow managers to make moves. The manager can make no more than 2 moves at a time. He can also choose to make 0 or 1 move. That's up to him based on how he thinks his team is doing. So you could be drafted originally and dropped 2 weeks later if you aren't performing. On the other hand you may not get drafted right away but you could be picked up what we call "waivers" if your team is doing well.
Typically each team has their own thread here on the board in which they can discuss strategy and ask for/give help. Participation is very important. You don't necessarily have to reveal your strategies but we do appreciate peole being active.
I will draw names from a hat to determine the draft order. If somebody notices I missed somethign let me know.
Signups end tomorrow night at midnight (or whenever I wake up Saturday morning).

Having my usual slow start. In the unlikely event anyone is tempted to take my team on the initial draft, I need to disclose my trip to Australia starting 2nd week in Dec through the rest of the month. Don't know how much access I will have, so I may end up accumulating trades. Which given how well I have used them so far, may be my best strategy...
You may want to give my team another look in January.
