Subject: NBA choice of Music

Over the past few years I have though the NBA did okay with their choice of Theme music for the season. I think it was Pink with lets get this party started, and then it was Black eyed peas. Either I am getting old or the music industry is going down the tubes. Also I have seen Miss Presley on a few talk shows confirming my belief that the music industry is all Pre-organized. She put it in more descriptive terms by using the word "Crap" to describe the same old 20 songs again and again...over and over on the radio. YOU GO GIRL!

Good music is still coming out, but unfortunately not out there for everyone to hear like it was in the early to mid 90s, and crap just keeps getting shoved down our throats. A lot of those old great bands are still going strong even though they don't get much time on the radio (Pearl Jam) and a lot of others have joined up with current great bands (Mark Lanegan and Dave Grohl with Queens of the Stone Age). I personally can't wait for Billy Corgan's solo album, in my opinion the man has never written anything less than great.
I remember back during the 93-94 playoffs when Seattle got upset by the Nuggets the arena playing Smells Like Teen Spirit through the time out and into the game. I wish they'd do that more.
What's everyone listening to these days? I know there's some huge grunge fans here, I'm curious what you guys have found. I'm eagerly awaiting the next Siamese Dream or Dirt (not that there can ever be another one of those).

A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step is IMO on the level of Siamese Dream and Dirt. I'm also waiting for two new System of a Down albums to be released in the next few months.

A Perfect Circle's pretty good, but it still can't compare to Maynard's other band. I've been listening to The Mars Volta (Frances the Mute) recently and it's really growing on me. I also picked up the new Beck yesterday.

I like how CJ thinks he can sneak a music thread into the Basketball forum by putting "NBA" in the title. :P

Well that is kind of what this is about. NBA is taking what artist are being driven in the music (MONOPOLY) industy and using it. That is nutz!
By the way I knew at some point someone would make the statement you have. KF....just because your team is terrible does nto mean you have to spread the disgust over to other people. LOL
Marbury? I love to hate that PUNK!

The mars volta are amazing, I agree. But I listen to more 'emo' type music now... fall out boy, brand new, taking back sunday, early november, etc... But the NBA is never gonna play those bands at arenas.

I just wish they would do a better job in selecting music that goes with the game. Liek when Pink did "Lets get this party started" It just stuck for the whole season. Then it was "Black eyed peas" and they stuck. But this past year it has been sick! Who is in charge of getting a song to go with the NBA each year?

Ya and what great dancing ....NOT! It is so weak! I really like Pink coming down the stairs in the stadium. The song was really upbeat and got people ready for a high powered game.
