0 Subject: Composite picks for RIHC & 3 QLs

Posted by: Guru

I took advantage of the common format for draft results for the RIHC leagues using the Kafenatid draft software with public results. These were the RIHC, AAA, AA1 and AA2 leagues.

Players are listed in order of average pick. The table also shows the number of times each was picked, and the min and max pick (1.01 means round 1, pick 1).

Other than Amare, here are the players with the largest disparity in pick sequence, grouped by approximate gap in rounds. In each case, someone either took them too early, or else someone got a consensus bargain.

Five rounds or more (from earliest to latest pick)
James Jones
Darius Miles
Antoine Walker
Nazr Mohammed
Brevin Knight
Erick Dampier

4 rounds
Mark Blount
Shane Battier
Stromile Swift
Mike Sweetney
Juan Dixon
Wally Szczerbiak
Martell Webster
Joel Przybilla
Deron Williams

3 rounds
Kelvin Cato
Maurice Williams
Marko Jaric
Primoz Brezec
Sebastian Telfair
Al Harrington
Michael Finley
Ben Gordon
Deshawn Stevenson
Caron Butler
Charlie Villanueva
Jason Williams
Jameer Nelson
P.j. Brown
Eddy Curry

Other curiosities:

161 players were taken in every one of the four drafts. Since each league picked 180 players, only 19 spots in each draft were non-consensus picks.

9 players were taken in exactly 3 leagues.
12 players were taken in exactly 2 leagues.
25 players were taken in exactly 1 league.

In total, 207 different players were drafted at least once.

Lamar Odom was selected at exactly pick 4.01 in all 4 leagues.

Other notably tight dispersions for players taken after round 1 in all 4 leagues:
Ike Diogu (12.02-12.03)
Paul Pierce (2.06-2.08)
Brad Miller (2.01-2.02)
Corey Maggette (4.10-4.12)
Rashard Lewis (3.08-3.11)
Jason Richardson (4.06-4.10)
Carmelo Anthony (4.03-4.08)

The lowest ranked player to be taken in all four leagues was Adonal Foyle (13.12-15.06)

The earliest picked player to be taken in only one league was Brian Grant, who was taken at pick 10.10 in AA2.

The highest ranked player to be omitted from one league was Charlie Villanueva, who was an average 12th rounder in 3 leagues (10.04-13.10), but not taken in AA1.

Could you post the players and the respective draft positions for each league?

Good Stuff, Guru. This makes my 'best pick' and 'worst pick' a lot easier on the draft recap.

I guess I should have paid attention to the other RIHC drafts to have a clue that Odom had a good chance not to make it back to me at 4.02. Then someone else would be worrying about Camby's feet right now (and back, and knees, and elbows, and little pinkies).

Well since 5 or 6 of the players I drafted were the minimum, I don't take that as good sign. But none of them were more than 3 rounds early. I think Artest is going to be a good pick at 2.04, but can see that he wouldn't have made it back to me at 3.09.

Villanueva was picked up in AA#1 prior to this being posted. And the manager who picked Martell Webster 4 rounds early just dropped him.

Thanks GURU!

That makes my draft look a lot better :)
Other than a reach for Camby whom I knew wouldn't make it back to me at 5-11. All my other picks were better value then the consenses picks. I don't know if it was just me, but the end of the draft this year was more difficult to be at then normal. The majority of my targeted picks were in that 15-55 area. I thought I reached a little but overall I thought I did alright. Now if only I didn't have two injured non eligible IR players with a couple of others on the fringe :)

Just you. When you set up a new draft, you have to specify whether it should be viewable by the public, and yours must not have been.

Interesting that when I view this page in IE, the formatting is nice in the title post. However, when viewing in mozilla firefox, the columns are out of line, the table has a different font, and generally the table is less readable. Anyone know what's up with that/how to fix mozilla?
