It's time to begin organizing the qualifying leagues for the RotoGuru Invitational Hoops Challenge.
Last year, we had 2 AAA leagues and 2 AA leagues. We will continue with a pair of AAA leagues this year, but we can have as many AA leagues as needed to fill the demand. Each league should have 12 managers, and each league will need a commissioner. Rules will be the same as the RIHC, as spelled out in the RIHC preseason discussion thread.
AAA league slots are open only for those who have qualified by playing in the RIHC or a qualifying league last season. There are 24 slots to fill. I believe that the following guidelines form the best qualifications for filling those slots:
1. RIHC managers not invited to the RIHC this year (6)
2. AAA managers ranked 4th-7th (8)
3. AA managers ranked 2-6 (10)
This list includes 24 managers, but there will probably be a few who decline to participate this year. If so, he remaining slots should be filled by those finishing 8th in the AAA leagues (2), followed by those finishing 7th (2) in the AA leagues, followed by those finishing 8th in the AA leagues (2) If more AAA slots are open, they may be offered to any returning QL manager, regardless of league or rank, first come, first served.
The following 24 managers are therefore automatically qualified for a AAA league:

You may use this thread to express your interest in joining a AAA league. If you are interested, you must provide an email address or your spot may be forfeited if we cannot track you down when league activities (registration, drafting etc. commence)
I need two volunteers to serve as AAA commissioners. Leagues should be hosted at Yahoo, and each draft should be hosted using kafenatid.net “On the Clock” software. (Please let me know if the cost of the draft software is an issue.) By using a common draft site, we will have the ability to compare and analyze the various drafts when they are completed.
If you volunteer to be a AAA Commish, you may start a separate thread to recruit your league (using the priority guidelines listed above).
If you are interested in a AA league and you are not qualifed for a AAA slot, you may also list your interest in this thread. Again, provide your email address. We also need a volunteer to Commish the first AA league. Once the first AA league is filled, we will begin to fill another league. There is no qualification standard for joining a AA league. However, participants in the RIHC or a AAA league should refrain from also joining a AA league unless there are open slots that must be filled to complete a league.

Farn, looks like you've got an outstanding group there. That division promises to be super competitive. I see there's a good core going out for the 2nd AAA division as well. I'll definitely take a break from commishing RIHC QLs this year, and give someone else a chance. I was planning on NOT even participating this year due in part to depression over the state of my Pacers, but it is hard to say no to RIHC. Once someone steps up into leadership and timelines are set for decisions, it's OK if I "time out" and my spot is taken if/when I have not claimed it in time.
WonderB, how does RIHC AAA commish sound? You've got the pedigree, as does RSF and others.

C. Bird, Rotoguru Invitational Hoops Challenge is a 'by invitation only' roto fantasy NBA league run by Guru that requires previous year's participation in qualifying leagues. This year, the AA qualifying leagues are open to all comers if you're interested in high involvement high quality 8-cat roto fantasy NBA leagues with a chance to qualify for advancement next year if you prove your mettle.

i commished a AA last year. only problem is i'm a cut n paste guy. i don't know how to post the fancy team stats that others do. i will relingquish to someone who would like to do a better job of this.

list of responders in order of first post, i think. note this order will be used as the initial rank before randomizing. let me know in the standings forum AAA#2 thread if there is an issue with the order that needs corrected.
WOLFER... are you interested in AAA - post just indicated AA which you are in now as far as i can tell. i think it is preferable to only enter one league but there is precident for entering two - you must declair at the beggining only one league counts for next year. also note same, CJ and DEEJAY.
GURU . DEEJAY . TREE . does deejay qualify up near tree in a tie situation mentioned above.
i just realized this is getting a little complicated with the above AA league.
i am starting a AAA#2 thread in the standings forum so all mentioned can reply/checkin there.

So, how many AAA qualifiers have opted out so far?
I see HoopsKlyce and RSF are out, so that opens up spots for Tree and deejay (since those two have spoken up), with Urmas on deck .
I'm not sure if anyone else has yet said "No", but there are still some who have not been heard from. I have email addresses for lionprideguy,
Doug, and Tequila, and will send them a notice to check in.
I do not have emails for StomoDotCom or Aggy's Miracles, or Urmas (in the likely event of a no-show), so if someone else can contact them, that would help move things along.

pacers rule has not ruled out playing but not confirmed.
tequila and lionprideguy are emailed but have not answered that i know of.
team urmas is in communication with me.
i would say CJ should enter AA league with wiggs to make sure he gets in somewhere. wolfer too. if we could use another player we will discuss contingencies with you.
GURU you mentioned email addys for my missing in action. are they the same as i have found.

not much action here.
do you two guys want to set up a fast draft. list a definite date and time and see who wants to join is the best way i think. it would be up to you to set it up and see who comes.
i'm already commishing a league here but if you need players i'd jump in. maybe it doesn't have to be RIHC or i declare the team ineligible.
