#11, Senator, surely you've heard they have medicine for overactive bladders now.

#10 Guru, surely you can use this data to increase promotional revenues, through targeted marketing. Looks like Viagra and hair loss products could do quite well.

I had a sleep study done a few months ago, it cost over $3000. Just for you, angryCHAIR, I'll sell you the results for $100 :)

I have sleep apnea, I've had it for 10 years. I sleep with a CPAP machine, it's very sexy. When I was diagnosed ten years ago, I had 350 apneas (stoppage of breathing)in one night. My blood oxygen level would drop to 50%, my heart then would race to startle me enough to breathe. I would wake up in the morning sweaty and exhausted. Just before I got my machine, I remember weekends where I would sleep for 13 hours, stay awake for two, then take a 2 hour nap. Driving was dangerous, I often pulled off to the side of the road and took a nap. Most sleep apnea sufferers are morbidly obese, thankfully, that's not me, I have it because that's just how my neck/throat is shaped.

I have no symptoms since I've had my machine, in fact, I think my sleep is better than most people. I sleep like the dead, it takes a bomb to wake me in the middle of the night, which is important since our one year old sleeps in our bed and wakes frequently.

To answer your questions... for free:

38 - yup, me too

Over 80% of sleep apnea sufferers are undiagnosed. If you snore at all, you run the risk of having it. It's dangerous not to treat it, not only are you robbing yourself of sleep, you seriously increase your likelihood of suffering from a fatal heart attack in your sleep. So, don't let me pass out drunk without my CPAP machine on, thanks!

I've alerted two friends that they were likely sufferers. They thank me every time they see me, I can't explain what a huge difference treating it makes in your life.

Wow! Great data so far---looks like (accidentally) two of my control variables is age/gender (38-40) ---

Oddly, I am in that range too.

Keep the data coming---I appreciate it.

Likely every night, but rarely vivid enough to remember. I do remember vivid, odd dreams in 9 minute spurts in the morning. 6:30 - 6:39 laying by the pool, drunk, watching Kathy Ireland 6:39 - 6:48 Playing pool with a drunk in Ireland. I hate the snooze button.

Chiming in late... got here via a link in a more recent thread.

- 33
- M
- 0 (90% of the time)
- I tend to go in spurts for days/weeks at a time, alternating between 6-7.5 hours per night when I'm busy (currently) and 8-10 hours when I'm not.
- I'm sure I dream most nights, but I'd say I wake up "aware of the fact" that I had just been dreaming about 50% of the time. Usually I forget about the dream within a few seconds or minutes, but once every week or two it will be a vivid enough memory that I can recount significant parts of it later in the day. Usually that's because something happens during the day that for some reason specifically triggers the memory of the dream (such as seeing a friend or other individual who was in the dream, or a specific place, etc.) A couple times per year I'll even have a dream that I can still remember months or years later.
