Farn has suggested to me via mail that I should take care of organizing GMD this year, so I'm hereby opening the thread that everybody has been waiting for! :) As signups have now opened a month later than usual, unfortunately we only have very little time - in order to maintain the same TP rhythm as in previous years, we need to go with the following dates:
Fri, 16 Nov --- End of signups (yes, that's next Friday already!)
Sat, 17 Nov --- Determination of draft order and start of draft
Tue, 20 Nov --- End of draft
Wed, 21 Nov --- Start of season
So if you have any intention at all of joining the fun that GMD is, don't hesitate and sign up right now. If you don't know what GMD is, please ask it in the "Is there going to be GMD this year?" thread as this thread should be for participant data only.
I will volunteer to manage one team and we're trying to have four. So if you don't completely rule out managing a team, please volunteer as a manager. If there are more than 3 additional volunteers, I will pick the other three managers according to what I think will result in the most balanced competition. If there are less than 4 volunteers altogether, GMD will not take place this year. Also, it will not take place if we do not manage to register enough signups to have 4 complete teams plus a reasonable number of FAs. So if you are in regular contact with other (Gurupie) managers who you think would enjoy GMD (and are reliable enough to be playing it), please inform them and ask them to sign up before Friday.

Bandwagon, if that is any help for you, I can assure you that managing a team does not take a ton of time. There are only the following 4 aspects to cover:
- Drafting your team
- Opening your team thread each TP. Contributing doesn't hurt either. ;)
- Running the team's standings sheet or finding somebody who can do it
- Be around for the waiver session every two weeks
That's all - you'll find that compared to managing an UH team, managing a GMD team is peanuts in terms of time needed.

deejay, the exact deadline is Friday, 16 Nov at 1200 h ET, i.e. 1800 h here in Europe.
After three days, the number of signups is only a bit more than half of what we're targeting. So again, if any of you is in contact with potential GMD players (whether it be GMD veterans who haven't signed up yet or reliable newcomers), please encourage them to sign up before that deadline.

It's a game from Gurupies for Gurupies so the reqirements are what we make them! :) Means if there is general interest in the game but less signups than usual, it is conceivable to reduce the team size or even the number of teams.
Still, I would prefer having the standard pool size of ~50 teams and I am wondering why many well-known names from previous years haven't signed up yet. deejay, I know you're coming ;) - but e.g. from last year we're still missing:

kentucky indians, I appreciate your initiative but unfortunately by the time you volunteered, things were already settled. I was informed via mail a few days ago that twolves will be managing a team. Bandwagon and weykool volunteered quite early so including me that already made four. Between these four over the past few days there already had been discussion on matters pertaining to team managers, and everything is already agreed on. So I'm sorry to say the manager slots are already occupied. But please do step up again next year, GMD is always in need of manager volunteers.

Due to my busy day much later than announced, but initial signups is closed now. Managers signing up after this post will not be eligible for the draft starting tomorrow.
However, managers who missed the deadline but do want to join GMD this year, may still sign up. If there are enough late signups that an additional slot on each GMD team makes sense, I will give consideration to a supplemental draft after the first or second TP. Not later though.

Important note as per agreement by the four GMD managers:
Free agent teams which are listed with more than 10 trades in the standings of a waiver session Tuesday will not be eligible to be picked during that particular waiver session!
This is meant to ensure that only active teams are picked, and that no manager creates an unfair advantage by adding a hitherto inactive team to make a one-session push with an excess number of trades.

JMISA, yes joining is still possible, your team will be eligible for upcoming waiver sessions.
@Guru - could you include JMISA's team in the GMD standings so managers can see where he is for the waiver session next Tuesday? Thanks!
