0 Subject: OT: Car Rental Help

We are going back to AZ for Spring Break to see some more baseball, etc. Any recommendations on where to go for the best car rental deals. Orbitz, Priceline, and Expedia are all about $280 for 8 days wit an Economy car. I'd like to knock that price down a bit.

Thanks a lot.

foxrentacar.com they have a location in Phoenix . There should be other agencies by the airport that have good deals. Google car rental and the city name. I paid $25 a day for a convertible in Honolulu 2 months ago. I believe it was through Advantage rentacar.

Look for online coupons also.
That should help with the price.

Sometimes a larger local place will assist. Someone like Enterprise who has stores all over the place.

Last time I rented, the best deals were the Towncars and such. The non-SUV gas guzzlers were cheaper than the camrys because they were having trouble renting them due to the price of gas.

If you aren't driving much, you might look into that.

I live in Phoenix. I've had success asking for the "insurance replacement rate" from the local Hertz and Budget. ($20/day). Tell them (fib) that your car is in the body shop and that you will pay the insurance rate directly. The downside is that you will have to go to the local store to get the car -- no airport drop off / pick up.

Try Brad at Hertz (3rd ave and Indian School Rd) 602-636-1353 or Shirley at Budget (Rural rd in Tempe. This is closer to airport) 480-994-9088.

The other downside is you will have to cal w/i 1-2 days of arrival as you obviously can't reserve a call under these conditions thsi far in advance! But, Brad would be your best bet if you have to call ahead.

Thanks rfs---but I have two young kids. That would be a little too chaotic.

Ended up getting a great deal thru Hotwire----An Economy car for 8 days for $240 thru Hertz. Not bad.

Thanks to all the suggestions.

I did notice that there are a lot of sites that share discount codes too, btw.
