0 Subject: M.L. King Day: King James version - 1/21 Action

Posted by: Guru
- [330592710] Mon, Jan 21, 2008, 09:28

I know it's early for an action thread, but most of today's 13 games are in the afternoon. If you have roster management needs, you need to attend to them early!

King James returns to action after a 3-day layoff. His is one of the three night games.

The Charlotte rollercoaster continues

Wallace Jrich combined for 89 minutes, 10-36 from the field and 8 turnovers

but all this really means is that they'll combine for 120 tsnp on Wednesday, so I'm not worried

Haha, actually I can't even smile about that.

I was going to buy Wallace but went with Mo Williams instead because:

A) I would have had to use an extra trade to sell Wallace after his game on the 19th to free up a slot for Bynum.

B) I thought he'd start leaking with his already high ownership combined with historical inaccuracy.

So then Bynum gets injured (while Gerald seemingly averages a consistent 80 tsnp/g) meaning I wouldn't have even had to sell him in the first place, and I would have gained over a million on him (and then of course Mo Williams sucks / gets injured / loses money / comes back and sucks more). And if I had decided to stick with the original plan and sell him on the 19th, it would have been perfect with him going down his next game anyway.

Let's see who else I can ruin tonight.

31...no doubt, I will be making that trade on 1/30. I guess you could figure that James's 4 games at 55 per equals 220 and Amare's 5 games at 40 = 200. Still, I will take my chances with the extra game.

Come on Kobe...a triple double would be sweet.

32 - if you're making the move on the 31st, why not today?

James 4 games at 53/g = 212

Amare 5 games at 40/g = 200

I didn't make this move, I went Baron->James, but I do see the merrit in making it. The RV swing will be around 700K as well.

Since we're discussing price movements...I can see the logic in moving Kidd to Kobe today. Looking down the road, there really aren't any better outs than Kobe and since they play the same amount of games until 1/30 and Kidd starts his 2/6 and would be heavily sold then...it would only make since to do the deal today and start reaping the benefits of the RV. Pretty much the same situation as selling Nash today.

you see, I've tried playing the hindsight game, but for some reason it never works out. Maybe because TSN won't let me make the trades AFTER the games have ended. Although I do thinkt that with enough nagging, they'll budge.

I'll email them now and ask to undo the James move and pickup Odom instead. I'm sure they'll listen this time.

Yeosh explained it well. Amare>James is more points and more RV. I guess the same could be said for Kidd except he averages 4.5 more points than Amare and everybody bought him 2 days ago. Add to that the fact that Kidd can be held through the ASB and Amare has to be moved soon anyways the two are not compareable.

even on 1/30 i think you can hold Kidd or at least those are my tentative plans. From that date til he ASB only Kobe projects to gain more points and I already have him so I don't see any reason to move Kidd. Is everyone moving on?

Yehosh didn't tell me anything I didn't know already. In fact...I broke down the points in the post just before his. Sure...you could keep Kidd til the break, however...he is going to bleed heavy on 1/30 and and 2/3, especially if he keeps throwing up stinkers. Kobe only plays one more game than Kidd, but...there are no gaps in his schedule and it is more apt to build RV than Kidd's.

Re: 33

I think Dave R was just being a cranky old man when he called the early Lebron move laughable. I strongly considered it myself on all four of my distinct teams, but at the end of the day I could usually work out some decent rotation where the $2.5mil savings of Amare could be used to generate a lot more than the expected 20 some odd TSNP boost of 4 Lebron vs 5 Amare. The RV swing needs to be factored in as well, but I've been slowly moving towards prioritizing roster efficiency over TSND chasing these days.

I still have Kidd on my teams and took the losses like everyone else...I simply played devil's advocate and stated that I could see the logic in moving him today, unless of course, you planned on keeping him til the break. I knew he would lose big time...just like Nash. And between now and the break...he has a couple of more dates where he will lose...just like today. IF he doesn't pick up his game he will be gone on 1/30 for me.

You could say the very same thing about Amare...just because you wanted James doesn't mean you need to trade Amare to get him.

Yeah Blooki, ( 47 ) I was being cranky. Old man, maybe ;)

Irrational price changes tend to do that. The point I was trying to make, was calling Kidd's drop laughable after stating the move of Amare=> James is somewhat of a contradiction. If you wanted James bad enough, Kidd to James worked as well as Amare.

We can slice and dice per game averages anyway you want to make trades make sense, sometimes. Giving up a stud game in Amare or Kidd to get James makes no sense. At least to me. A Grant Hill, for example, to James, well I'd do it in a heart beat.

While we are at it, who noticed Gerald's -10K last night. Must have been some Gerald => Butler moves.
I can hear it now, give me 2 Butler games to 3 Gerald games, but the money swing makes it all worthwhile.

Nope, Kidd can theoretically can be held to the ASB, but won't.

Amare produces more, in all breakdowns, other than YTD, and I bet most go by 30 day averages which gives Amare a slight edge.

Did you mean Kidd's 16 points on 11/19 or his 14.5 points on 11/2? You want to take out the 23 from the other day, he has a slight edge over Amare for 30 days. But to be fair maybe we should take out Amare's low game.

This isn't a Senator Urine, Kidd bashing, I'm a huge Kidd and Nets fan, but as I said we can manipulate numbers and way you choose. Take out his 3 straight 60+ triple doubles and what is he averaging?

So yeah, I think trading Kidd or Amare is the same thing, your giving up a " stud " game for LBJ. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't do it.

Guess I should let everyone know that I wasn't among those who sold Kidd. So we're not out of the woods yet. I can't (/can) believe he's doing this to me again.

I did sell Amare for Lebron though. I was planning on doing that from the day I picked him up and it was one of the main reasons I didn't pick up Nash or Marion also - while the Phoenix schedule looks good (and is good), there's no back to back strengthening it at the end. That pretty much means every day is a possible sell date. Combine that with people, including myself, wanting to get into Lebron early, it just seemed to make sense to do the move.
