Subject: Roto Draft Strategy: Stat Target

I've been playing fantasy basketball roto-style for a few years now. One draft strategy I've recently been using, and I am sure most of you already know, is estimate a target in each roto category, and track the cumulative projected stats of my current roster during the draft. During the top 4 rounds, just draft the best player available. From that point on, draft to meet the stat targets, with projected stats for the coming season. This reminds me to stay balanced, and not forget to draft for a category like Blocks.
One key question for such a strategy is how to estimate the stat targets in order to win the league? I have been using past league (where I played in) winners' average as an estimate. Of course due to my limited experience, that's a very small sample size.
What do you guys target (or target ranges) for 9-cat (include TO) 12 team league with standard team size (PG,SG,G,SF,PF,F,C,C,Util,Util) like Yahoo Fantasy Basketball? |

While I don't ever take the time to do it that way, I know others do. You can check last year's RIHC for more data. And prior years too.

I use this approach as a method to let me know how my relative balance looks, but not as absolute targets.
If you are setting targets, you really need to factor in the particulars of the league - how many teams, how many players, what positions, etc. If you have relevant stats from the prior year for the same league, that's probably the best standard.
I'd probably target the stats for a team at about the 75th-80th percentile. If you can hit those values in every category, that's probably good enough to win a league. This assumes that the league is relatively competitive. If there are only a few competitive teams, and a lot of clueless teams, then you might need to aim higher.
