Thoughts on where we think he might be a good fit and or be able to push a team to more wins and possible playoff. I can not see him contributing to a championship though. |

He's a great fit right where he is, sitting on his ass.
Marbury is a perfect example of the spoiled pro athlete. Didn't like Minnesota, playing second fiddle to KG. I bet they could have had a great run.
Wants to " come home ", and gets traded to NJ. That's not good enough. The Nets grew tired of him and his selfish ways and shipped him to the Suns. For Jason Kidd. Another spoiled superstar by the way.
From the Suns he finally comes " home " to the Knicks, where he wanted to be all along. Well how's that working out now, Steph?
As far as I'm concerned, right now he is getting exactly what he deserves.

Did any catch the news that Marbury was offered a chance to play and turned it down? With the trades that Knicks had going they used a 7 man rotation, Marbury told D'Antonio that he wouldn't play and didn't get dressed.
I'm sure that will make other teams line-up to give him another contract.

Tinsley is in a similar situation in Indy.

Marbury told D'Antonio that he wouldn't play and didn't get dressed.
He actually was in uniform as it was mandated by the league that 8 players must be suited up for a game. He just decided not to play but he was in uniform.

[4] One big difference is how the organization has handled the publicity about it. The Pacers have basically avoided taking pot shots at him in the media, despite keeping him away from the team. Tinsley has such limited communication skills and social skills, it is scary.

Actually, the Knicks haven't been that classless with Marbury, either, I suppose. More of the savage media that has repeated called him out. The whole Isaiah Thomas 'are you going to get in my truck' saga didn't exactly help matters either.

AUBURN HILLS - On Thanksgiving Eve, Stephon Marbury Stephon Marbury said no thanks.
Marbury last night turned down an offer to be installed as the Knicks New York Knicks ' starting shooting guard for the rest of the season, according to two team sources.
Down to just two guards following trades, an injury to Nate Robinson Nate Robinson and Cuttino Mobley's ongoing heart tests, coach Mike D'Antoni talked with Marbury at their Detroit hotel before last night's game at The Palace against the Pistons, telling Marbury he wanted him to join the fray - the second time in a week D'Antoni has asked Marbury to play.
This time, D'Antoni told Marbury it would be permanent, not just a one-night stand, according to the two sources. But Marbury stuck to his guns. He said the team had decided to go in a different direction and the damage was too significant to repair, with buy-out talks having already begun, according to the two sources.

Doesn't a buy-out mean a partial payment? From what I've read Marbury isn't willing to take less than the total amount he is due, 21M.
Why not tell him to dress put him in the line-up and if he won't play suspend him? Can the relationship get any worse at this point?

1 Dare R I agree I always think about where he has gone and where he was with Googs and KG....what a loser to walk away from total stardom in Minny. They would have been a great force for a few years...nope walked away for himself. What a LOSER!
9 Frick I agree I think I want to see the worst happen to him and without pay with suspension sounds great. Tell him he is playing or he is suspended.

ESPN is reporting that Marbury is suspended and not to contact the team until Monday. He's suspeded without pay for refusing to enter the game. He plans to file a grievance

Yeah, Frick. This situation should be better for the Knicks financially than the Pacers with Tinsley because since Marbury is refusing to play, he should be suspended without pay indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team...and in fact sued for breech of contract. The fact that Marbury plans to file a grievance if he does is a laugh. I think this is a prime example of where the league and the Knicks need to make an example out of him. Even his own teammates take management's side.

Disappointing really. I was hoping he'd rot all year on their bench. I can only pray he doesn't get a ring out of all this.

Boston would be stupid to take on that character. Glad he's gone in NYK. Finally.
