Who could have thought that the Mavericks’ problems at shooting guard — which is normally manned by players the size of Atlanta’s Joe Johnson, who is 6-foot-7 — would be solved by a 5-10 1/2 point guard who played 654 minutes in his first two seasons? "I’m always a believer that anything is possible," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. "Would I have predicted it? No. Am I shocked? Absolutely not." OK, so one person in the basketball world was not surprised. But the rest of us are stunned — not because Barea has contributed to the Mavericks’ recent success, but because he has at times carried the team. --Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Over the last six games, Barea has averaged over 25 TSN pts as a starter and he costs only $530K. Enough people bought him Tuesday that he had his first price gain of the season. Plus he's got a decent upcoming schedule. Check him out.

Finally saying goodbye to Howard today. Took me a while but I'm getting on the Devin Harris express and heading for a month of "green" boxes.
Howard/Augustin-->Harris/Okafor x3
Okafor has very few owners so there is really nowhere to go but up. I'm rolling the dice that his solid schedule and play draws lots of buys.

What're people's thoughts on Ariza? He's been adequate, but I worry that his ownership is saturated, impatient and panicky which is a lethal combination TSND-wise.

If I had Ariza I would be cautious over the next couple of days...you are right his price has hit a ceiling and has nowhere to go but down.

On Ariza I have no choice but to hold due to bigger issues. He plays on a great team and has been very consistent. He plays 8 games in 14 days, with the first 4 at home. 3 of the home games have potential to be blowouts which could mean extra garbage time for Ariza. Besides Hawes or Barea don't really see lots of options in his price range. Both the aforementioned players play 1 less game over 2 weeks. Based on what's happened in the past, I'm sure he'll bleed some but I'd rather lose a little cash,use the trade on a stud, then be stuck with another cheapie I don't really want just to avoid some losses.

I will take it day by day with Ariza. Today he plays.
I expect Ariza to Hawes to be popular tomorrow. However, the one thing Ariza has going for him is the lack of decent cheap options at F these days. So once Hawes owners join on Thursday, it becomes slim pickings.
If you have Hawes already there is bunch of ?? out there.

Is anyone out there considering Dirk?
He's been on a tear...his price is a bargain and starting tomorrow his schedule is pretty damn good.

According to report on Wednesday on The Sporting News’ website, the Suns have dealt guard Raja Bell along with forward Boris Diaw and guard Sean Singletary to Charlotte for guard Jason Richardson and forward Jared Dudley.

What are the Bobcats thinking? JRich is the best player in the deal, and this really doesn't free up cap space for Charlotte.

Lebron to who? Dirk looks to be the only real option worthy of that slot. No one Laker seems to be consistant.
