Nene missed Monday's game against the Hawks with a neck injury.
There was no word of this one coming, although he has said recently that he's wearing down. Hopefully it's just a stiff neck and he won't miss anymore time. Chris Andersen, who didn't even play in Denver's last game, started at center and could have a big game against the Hawks.

also:
Spencer Hawes did not practice on Monday because of an abdominal strain. He is questionable for Tuesday's game.
Hawes has been playing with the injury for a few games so it's possible he'll tough it out. Coach Kenny Natt also said that Hawes' recent move to the bench was a temporary arrangement based on matchups -- he hasn't decided on the lineup for Tuesday, whether Hawes is available or not.

My question of the day is: Are there phantom injuries in the NBA?

It seems in baseball, starters get days off from time to time. However, I don't recall seeing starting five players given a day off. Do teams make up phantom injuries if a guy could use a break?

I watched what I thought was all of the Mia/Was game a few days ago and Butler looked 100% healthy. Two days later after no news at all, Butler gets a DNP for an ankle?

Tonight Nene sits out because of a neck injury? Did he sleep wrong? Again, no notice at all and then bam the guy is off with an injury.

What do you guys think? Are these real or do teams need to have a reason for sitting one of their starting 5 from time to time?

I think nearly all are real G but the circumstances can vary. Practice injuries we don't always hear about. Players toughing it out with minor dings and muscle strains where it drags on and they are finally given a chance to rest it. Sometimes people play until someone else returns so they themself can rest an injury.

You can't possibly know all the injuries and they don't always get to the media. My two cents.

I'm not sure G, but I think phantom injuries occur, not saying it is in this case.

Maybe some teams do not report it sometimes to avoid teams adjusting, that i think is certainly a reason....

I've long wondered if Marcus Camby just sometimes takes days off.

I think that because the NBA season is so long and arduous that lots of players are playing through lingering minor injuries and sometimes they strategically rest (i.e. second game of a back-to-back, strong team vs. weak opponent). Because we buy players with high schedule density it increases our chances of getting these sudden DNP's.

Thankfully my best team was going to drop Nene tomorrow anyway.

No, that team doesn't have Nene, so there's another bright side to this for me! I hope I can continue to give you a good race in spite of your money advantage.

Good news for Nene owners: he made 40K today! And Harris somehow made 30K. There's nothing like putting the last card on a house that's about to topple.

Harris hopefully should be OK, with a 4 game week starting Wed. and 3 games in a row. And maybe a lot using their last trade on Nene.

We'll see.

Toronto's Jermaine O'Neal played just nine minutes in the first half and made at least one mid-game trip to the locker room before skipping the second half with flu-like symptoms.

LOL Nice all of these guys getting bought and then they decide not to play.
