...who would it be? (Assuming that he would also answer your questions truthfully).

I would pick Dirk and ask him if he still believes that the Mavs can win a title while he's there and how long he thinks he will be able to play and if he retires as a Maverick.

I'd ask Stephon Marbury what he was on in this interview and where I can get some.

I'd like to meet Greg Oden to find out how I, too, can be an NBA player. Because if he can, anyone can.

Honestly I would never want to meet Starbury. I'd prefer to meet Gilbert Arenas. He seems like someone who'd be hilarious to hang out with. I love the fact that he drives around at night to find random people to rebound for him when he wants to shoot around.

Easiest question ever... Captain Jax.
Whou wouldnt want to blaze, bust off some shots, start a fight, get arrested, and then get out on bail and do it all over the next day.

Agent Zero is a good call. I'd be interested to know what NBA players people actually have met. Off the top of my head I've spoken at least briefly to Shaq, Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza, Jordan Farmar, Nick Young, Amir Johnson and Nate Robinson. All were nice, which makes me more likely to root for them. Anybody with a good list or story of an encounter with an NBA player?

I went to basketball camp with Tim Thomas... wouldn't say I "spoke" to him other than usual basketball chatter.

I met Stephon at a diner in the Poconos, it was 2am and we talked about his visit to Greece, very pleasant personality, at least off the court.

My dad and I used to have Warriors season tickets a long time ago during the Run-TMC days, and we went to one of the open practices they held for the fans. Talked briefly with Manute Bol (his waistband was at my eye level) and up close you could see the tribal scars on his face. He was really nice. I remember Tom Tolbert was also very nice and outgoing with all the fans.

That was the year they drafted Tyrone Hill, and everyone was really excited about it. I had made a sign for the practice (I was an excited kid) that said something like, "IT'S T-TIME!", which was a reference to his nickname or something. It had a tea cup on the sign. Pretty silly, in retrospect. But I remember him signing everyone's autographs with just his name, and when I whipped out this big sign with the ridiculous tea cup picture, he did this double-take that I'll never forget, and then stared at me for a second, and then wrote "All the Best, Tyrone Hill." Not that that was a real interaction, but it's a fond and funny memory.

I knew Tyrone in college. A genuinely nice and easy going guy--the fact that he had a bit of success in the NBA was always a little heartwarming, since he was such a good guy.

He was in an on-campus eatery once in the evening, when some friends of mine came in with a bootleg tape of the Rocky Horror Picture Show (with Japanese subtitles!). This was back in 86 or 87. He hung out watching with us, which I thought was very cool of him considering we barged in and took over the place.

In December, my son was shopping with a friend at a store in Manhattan (Radio Shack as I recall), and spotted a tall guy who he thought to be Al Jefferson. Figuring the TWolves were in town, he said to his friend "I think that's Al Jefferson".

The NBA player overheard him, turned to him and said, "No, it's Al Harrington"

Re: Tyrone Hill

A mug like his would keep any ego in check. :)

Man, how great would it be to have an NBA career. The slightest unselfish act witnessed by others and you are revered as if you had descended from Mount Olympus.

NBA players also must get drinks bought for them a lot and get other free stuff. One of the great oddities of our culture is that the more money you have the more gifts you get.

Shaq, Grant Hill, MJ, Dirk, Magic, KG, C Webb, Payton I find characters like these guys would be easy for them to hang out with anyone. And wouldn't that have to be the case. Also I would have tons to bounce off them for tons of topics. I though about Kenny Smith, and Barkley but I am not sure Barkley could be not willing.
More modern players I could see Paul, Howard, Arenas, Wade and Roy.
