Subject: Week 12 Trade thread

I just read the news about Milsap being 90%. I guess that makes him a game time decision which means there will be lots of Yahoo watchers at 7:45 EST. Looking at the games that start at 8:00 EST or later and I see absolutely nothing. I also just can't stomach the idea of going to Shaq to avoid a Milsap DNP only to see Shaq sit out 2 of the next 4 games. That seems silly. So, a Milsap DNP could be doom and gloom for any other trade plans this week. |

I'll be right there in front of my computer, too. It's tough to find a replacement for a 40 TSNP producing $4 million forward. As of now, I'm thinking my options are Duncan (luckily have some cash laying around) and Okur. Shaq will not be on my list since I'm pretty sure they're still holding him out of back-to-backs.

after adding Lebron I certainly don't have 4.5 mil laying around so the question for me will be do I cash in some high yielding CD's (with a penalty I am sure) or do I waste the spot on a super cheapie until we know more.

Since 11/7 Phoenix has had 6 back to backs. Shaq has DNP'd 4 times out of those 6. The 2 he played in I believe after the most recent one I recall Terry Porter saying he let him play because they had 2 days off after the back to back.
It would appear logical to assume that although Shaq has 8 games scheduled between 1/15 and 1/26 he probably will only play in 6 of those 8. I'm assuming he'll play in the last set of back to backs next week because they have 2 days off following.
Even if Millsap DNP's tonight he still has the same amount of games (6) that Shaq will probably play in until 1/26.
So I would have to agree with you G that a Millsap>Shaq trade has excellent potential to be very silly indeed pointswise. But I'm sure for the cash it will probably be a popular move today as it looks good on paper.

Hey Dean,
Thanks for the research on the B2B's for Shaq. So for anyone buying Shag tomorrow they are basically getting only 2 games out of him this week. I think I will pass. Come next week if I need a transition guy I may look at him since he could play all 4 that week.
I need to look at options this evening.

So far, went Jamison/Rondo to CP3/Stuckey. Gotta get to Lebron tonight, so Granger and another will go into him and another cheapie.

Can you wait for LeBron until tomorrow? I'd hate to give up a Granger game. In fact, I'm probably holding through his momentary schedule lull.

Ugh. Not enough cash for Okur from Millsap. What a disaster, I just bought Millsap a few days ago from Camby.
I really hope Jermaine O'Neal gets traded soon. Bargnani is a good option out of Millsap but only if Jermo doesn't play. His numbers are horrible when he's off the bench. Also have noticed Bosh's numbers are affected by Jermo as well.

5,
I agree with 6. Selling Jamison and Rondo when they play isn't terribly efficient either.
Using too many trades on wednesdays is what makes you miss out on moves like Rondo to Stuckey yesterday. Realize that's not terribly helpful right now, but might be a good idea to hold players like Jamison and Granger when you already took a sizeable hit on them yesterday.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if JO misses the next 6 games. The Raptors have a 3 game road trip starting monday and if he's not completely healthy by then I would think they leave him home.
Or I could be totally wrong and he could play on Friday...but the fact that he's not likely to play friday in Indiana means he can't be all that healthy or he surely would suit up against his old team.

$4later,
You don't need Lebron until tomorrow right? Why not hold Jamison and Rondo who both play today and then sell both tomorrow for Lebron and someone else you like going forward. At this point Paul and Stuckey are nice to have if it works well but neither is worth the forced move IMO.

While I reailze that Millsap is the crisis du jour, I'm curious about people's Ty Thomas tolerance right now.
With all the guys who have returned for the Bulls (Sefolsha, Hinrich, Deng), I'm very worried that his already declining production could fall off a cliff. That said, he does play a 5 in 7 starting tonight, so you can't possibly trade out of that, can you?
And if you wanted to, who are the ready replacements if you are not going to package him? Is Jeffries rosterable at this point? He can't lose money and it seems that 20/game is plausible. Thoughts?

Gooden is out tonight, so there should still be some minutes for Tyrus.
I have him on two teams, and I'm planning to give him the next two days before deciding. At that point, Foye becomes a viable option, if you have the GF flex. If not, perhaps Diaw?

I appreciate all the good advice. Thus, the reason I can't seem to break the 200 WWR. I hadn't played in about 6 years and when I finally get back, I end up in a league chasing one of Blooki's teams...LOL My biggest worry right now seems to be my RV being under 62 mil. I would feel better getting it up over 65 mil at this point in the game.

With that said, I've usually shied away from creating the proverbial "what should I do" post. Being I didn't get home in time to undo the Jamison/Rondo trade, should I just remain status quo with this for the week:
C Paul, Wade, Stuckey, Duhon Granger, J Green, Bargnani, T Thomas Camby, D Lee

Ignore post 11. I have new reasons to believe that Stuckey will go to OT and have a 50 plus game which will look weak compared to Paul who will come close to a 4D and get over 80. Trading Rondo and Jamsion on game day for Paul and Stuckey is the way to go.

The "Great Wall of Blooki" is such a love hate thing. Most days my teams seem to go up or down 0-5 spots. However, there are those days when my team gets over "the wall" and I go up like 10-15 spots. Unfortunately, that is usually followed by the next day when I fall back over the wall and lose 10-15 spots.

The Great Wall of Blooki is such an experience. I've had my first climb on it about five years ago. At that time, It was a true accomplishment for me. During certain years, it seems to be broken in different parts, "Greater wall", "lesser wall", etc.. which makes things a bit easier. You have less vertigo seeing it. This year, the Wall seems to be very high and very consistent which is really scary. I guess The Wall has stopped playing Monopoly and don't forget to do trades anymore. The Wall is also very rich this year which makes things even tougher. Well the Wall has a lot of power on the market, we all know that. May be one day the Wall will be able to pull a player out of gravity by himself ? That would the pinnacle of the Wall's power.
Happy New Year The Wall !

Wow, I thought Dave R was the only one other than myself to remembered the infamous Monopoly game.
For those of you who don't know, it was on Jan 4, 2006. I had $9mil TSND for a massive planned Blake => Lebron upgrade. For some reason I decided to wait until gametime to check if Lebron was in the lineup (there were absolutely no reason to think that he wouldn't be). Anyhow, 3 hours before gametime I get embroiled in the most ridiculous Monopoly game ever (which I ended up coming in 2nd in anyways). Needless to say I missed gametime and a 70 TSNP and 130K swing while still ending up going Blake to Lebron anyways. I have not played a game of Monopoly since.
As to the phenomenon you know as the Great Wall of Blooki. I too am surprised that I (and other top managers) perform so consistently year to year without multiple seed teams. I've always been curious how I would do if I started off with several different teams thereby distributing my risk and allowing luck to perhaps benefit my top teams more than they would my only team. In the end though, I still believe due to my heavy-handed micromanagement style that managing multiple teams would actually cause all of them to perform worse because my attention and analysis would be divided.
I will say that I believe "the Wall" has helped me more this year than in past years due to the low participation. With gravity hovering around 40-50 managers and light trading days allowing 10 buys or sells to approach triple digit swings, I do feel a bit like a cheater this year. I am also asking myself how much having top managers buying multiple teams does hurt the integrity and the ability for the game to be enjoyed by newer managers by monopolizing (pun intended) those league prizes. I will likely scale back to 5 teams next year so, depending on how you climbers feel about the experience, get your thrills in while you can or rest easy because relief is in sight.

Meanwhile, to get back on topic. What are people's thoughts on Millsap. His production:price ratio seems to dictate a buy in any schedule, but this is the second time in the past month alone that I've been really burned by him. Historically, he's been a very durable player, but history offers very little comfort for a manager who is burning through precious trades like mad while racking up DNPs.
How much good news and actual court time do we have to see before we can buy Millsap with confidence again?

I need to see him play in the back to back fairly well before considering buying back on tuesday. If not...then in the next back to back before buying in on 1/24. That's probably the most likely time I would buy back in as his 3 in 4 to end the trading week will be popular.

I need to see one game with some type of news that he felt good after it. I think an interest in Millsap may depend on if and when he returns this week and how all the Pho players are doing in their dense schedule. If they are underperforming, people may not need as much news other than he is in the line-up (i.e Tuesday). If they are playing well, I wonder how important it will be since many should have a roster filled with quality players by then and with their schedule a Tuesday buy wouldn't be a must.

25 and 26 Yes I plan on buying him back and usually I do not sell players but I am below 50 mil......Now there is your LOL. I just kept JO thinking he woudl be back the next game and then the next game and finally I gave up. Plus my attention to my teams is not what it needs to be to compete this year. I really struggle with the pricing aspect of this game. Always a day late on the trades or injured players as some make those moves right before game time and I am rarely around for that.

Jermaine O'Neal is expected to practice Thursday, and if there's no major swelling in his knee, he will play on Friday against his former team, the Pacers. Beat writer Doug Smith believes O'Neal will come off the bench initially, which would keep the red-hot Andrea Bargnani in the lineup for now. However, O'Neal isn't likely to be thrilled with a long-term bench role, so at some point he'll either return to the starting five, get hurt again or get traded. In any case, it appears Bargnani's value may be safe for at least the time being. Source: Toronto Star / Rotoworld

Bosh starts his back to back today... not yesterday which is when he was -.06. I was a seller and went to Camby:( Camby played yesterday and plays tomorrow (hopefully)so you weren't losing any games by trading into him.
Hopefully Camby won't miss any time, but he is well-known for DNP's. From LA TIMES: "The good news is that it's not as bad as it was when I first went out there. He said it was his knee," said Dunleavy, who reiterated that it indeed was Camby's ankle. "I don't think there's anything too bad with it. He came back out and it was a great sign to see him back on the bench. I think he thought about wanting to go back in the game, but there was no way I was going to do that."

Okay this is sooo not cool. Why does Camby have a big fat red X next to his name and Duhon doesn't? Both had to leave their respective games last night because of injury. If TSN is going to start flagging red X's for lazy managers to get a heads up, is too much to ask for some consistency?

In their defence, Camby had an actual injury whereas Duhon's back just tightened up...I think Camby's more likely to miss time too...though that is based on having no information about Duhon yet.

At this point I'm locked into holding him unless news comes out. The only trade that possibly made sense was going into Amare, who I have no confidence in whatsoever to get me 40+ on a given night. If I had chosen to go that route, it would have cost me three trades. By waiting to see if Camby plays, I could possibly save those three trades. If he's out, I may be forced into using those three trades in a way that would get me one less game than moving today would have. But I thought it was a risk worth taking, because if Camby's in he's absolutely essential.
My issue for the rest of the day is what to do with Duhon. I'm thinking about abandoning ship, assuming he won't play (I detest back injuries), and moving him for Millsap. But then there are other options too - if news comes out that Duhon is going to be out awhile, am I going to want Nate? Then there's the whole ongoing Collins / Baron fiasco too. Meh.

Duhon plays his old team tomorrow. I fully expectDuhon to do whatever he can do to play and his coach said similar to play.
I like the fact that they have the first game if something didn't work out he can be moved to anyone tomorrow. Rushing tonight for some $ doesn't seem to be worth it when it could cost a trade and pts.
I think trades are low for a lot of people when i look at the top 100. I would be tradeless on Monday if I move him tonight so I will pass. Too many issues lately.

I think holding Duhon makes sense if that would take you down to 1 trade especially if you have Wade still. For those with surplus trades these are the days you hope for but you have to make the right call.
