The Grizzlies are reportedly set to trade Mike Conley to the Bucks for guard Ramon Sessions and forward Joe Alexander, but are waiting to see if the Bucks want to close the deal. Milwaukee is apparently weighing the proposal as talks are ongoing, according to the Memphis Commercial-Appeal. Whether this deal goes down or not, the jury is still out on the fantasy ramifications. Sessions would have to beat out Kyle Lowry, who has played well, for the starting job. And Conley would likely still be behind Luke Ridnour on the depth chart in Milwaukee. Given the fact this trade is not a sure thing, we still don't think that Sessions is a must-own player right now. |

I never understood why they drafted him two days after trading for Richard Jefferson in the first place.

Another league source has confirmed that the Bulls and Nets are discussing a trade that would send Larry Hughes to New Jersey in exchange for Bobby Simmons and Maurice Ager. It's up to the Nets to sign off on the deal, which amounts to the swapping of bad contracts. Hughes is owed $12.8 million this season and $13.7 million next season -- Simmons' is owed $9.9 million this season and $10.6 million next season. Source: Chicago Sun-Times

The Toronto Raptors have agreed to send Jermaine O'Neal and Jamario Moon to the Miami Heat in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks, league sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.
The deal is pending league approval, according to sources, and if approved, would be announced later Friday afternoon. Source ESPN

The heat will be soo much better with this trade. Might make O'Neal lift the level of his game as I feel he is capable. He will give the heat a shot blocker again. And then Moon? What is in this for Raptors?

Avoiding or lowering their luxury tax next year when they don't re-sign free agent Marion.

Moon got thrown in like he was nothing but I think he's a pretty good player: his game is kind of a lower level version of Marion's.

From Rotoworld:
The Spurs continue to show interest in Nets swingman Vince Carter, most recently offering Roger Mason, George Hill, Fabricio Oberto and Bruce Bowen.
If such a deal took place, New Jersey would immediately waive Oberto and Bowen to get under the 15-man roster limit. No deal is imminent, but it's starting to sound like VC won't be in NJ for much longer.
The Cavaliers have apparently made a bid for Amare Stoudemire, offering the expiring contract of Wally Szczerbiak, rookie J.J. Hickson and a first-round pick.
Anderson Varejao was also mentioned as a possibility, but that package (with or without Varejao) probably isn't better than what the Bulls are offering. The Cavs are also "intrigued" by Clippers center Marcus Camby.
As a Cavs fan I'm not really sold on Amare. Giving up Wally is not a big deal and Varejao leaving isn't a big deal since he's probably gone next year. Hickson has alot of upside. I'm just worried Amare wouldn't play defense and become a problem for the team. I'd much rather go after a Bosh or a Camby.

Camby would be a great fit for them, I'd love to see that happen. I'm by no means a Cavs fan but as a fan of basketball it would be amazing to see Lebron and Camby paired up (and frightening for the rest of the league).

Going strictly by numbers, Moon's a good rebounder for a SF and gets both steals and blocks, a rare combination. If you did per minute stat comparisons every year the way I do you'd appreciate him. He's very athletic and not a terrible shooter either---maybe not a starting 3 but a useful role player.

12 I agree...Moon has upside for them and might in the end be the sleeper in the deal.
11 I also agree with you...I read post 10 and immediately though what a force Camby would be for them. You have a player like Lebron....you need defense players. My question is where does Z fit in then...to the bench?
10 Spurs seem to be giving a lot up for one player that will probably get hurt, plus Mason has been huge for them this year as he has single handled won three games.

I wonder what the odds are now of Amare getting traded. Hopefully still really high because I want to be rewarded for holding Shaq.
From rotoworld:
Suns interim coach Alvin Gentry said on Monday, "I think we have to go back to trying to establish a breakneck pace like weve had in the past." This is obviously good news for the fantasy value of most Suns, but it could particularly benefit Steve Nash and -- assuming for a moment that he isn't traded at the deadline -- Amare Stoudemire. Another player who should get a boost in value in Gentry's up-tempo system is Leandro Barbosa, who was held somewhat in check under the Terry Porter regime.

O'Neal for Marion I was aware of for awhile, but it still seems to me that the great majority of actual trades either aren't rumored at all (Radmanovic), or we just had an idea that a certain player like Chandler was available but not where he was going or for whom. I think that the more specific the trade rumor the less likely it is to happen. A lot of this is just reporters floating things out there.

per ESPN: The Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings have reached tentative agreement on a trade sending Andres Nocioni, Drew Gooden and Cedric Simmons to the Kings for Brad Miller and John Salmons, ESPN.com.
One source said the Bulls players were pulled off the team bus Wednesday afternoon and were told they had been traded.
Michael Ruffin of the Bulls also was told be was being traded to Portland in a separate deal, the source added.
Another source said the trade was expected to be finalized by Wednesday evening.

The Kings have reportedly traded Bobby Brown and Shelden Williams to the T-Wolves for Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth. None of these players should have a major impact in his new surroundings, but McCants probably has the best shot at fantasy value out of the four. We wouldn't advise adding him in a 10- or 12-team league, but there's a chance he'll get decent minutes in Sacramento and could eventually be a useful source of points and threes. Chandler trade vetoed--Chandler has a possible turf toe problem.
Cavs are talking to pretty much everyone these days, looking for upgrades and appear willing to throw around a lot of money. A title for Cleveland would go a long way toward helping them retain LeBron when his contract is up.

New home for Hughes in New York?
K.C. Johnson
The Tribune reported talks with the Knicks centered on a trade sending Larry Hughes to New York for Malik Rose and Jerome James collapsed Wednesday. But a league source said talks were revived Thursday and Hughes could be moving to New York for James and former Bull Tim Thomas.
That would be somewhat hilarious given that the Bulls once sent Tim Thomas home for poor practice habits, exactly one of the reasons the Bulls have distanced themselves from Hughes.
Also, ESPN.com's Chad Ford is reporting the Kings could be moving Andres Nocioni to the Celtics.

POSTED: Feb. 19 -- 1:17 p.m. ET
Marc Stein: Word is coming in that the Knicks are closing in on some new players.
It is not immediately clear if this would be two separate trades or a three-way exchange, but I'm hearing that Oklahoma City's Chris Wilcox -- who went back to the Thunder on Wednesday night when the Tyson Chandler trade was rescinded -- and Chicago's Larry Hughes are New York-bound.
To complete the transaction(s), Oklahoma City would get Malik Rose and Chicago would receive Tim Thomas, Jerome James and Anthony Roberson.

Marc Stein: Looks like we have a fairly significant three-way deal that has been submitted to the league just before the trade deadline.
NBA front-office sources tell ESPN.com that Orlando is acquiring Rafer Alston from Houston to fill the void created at point guard by Jameer Nelson's shoulder injury.
The Rockets will receive Memphis guard Kyle Lowry, Orlando forward Brian Cook and perhaps two other minimum-salaried players to make the finances work.
The Grizzlies will receive a first-round pick from Orlando.

37 Doesn't Wally's expiring contract still help them next year when it comes off their books? Or were you looking for more help right now?
And does anyone think that Chris Wilcox's value may have gone up now that he'll be playing for D'Antoni in New York? Does Jared Jeffries start in front of him, or does Wilcox move into the starting 5 spot?

They have the 3rd highest payroll in the league so they're way over the cap. They couldn't sign a big free agent so while a trade would help them this year it would also give them a big contributor next year.
Wally is a guy in the rotation so it wouldn't be so bad if they re-sign him to a one year deal next year. The main thing is they don't add cap space past 2010. That really gives them less options but I thing Camby or Vince Carter would be big time upgrades for this year and next.
