0 Subject: Your major mistakes this season

Let's find some excuses for why we didn't achieve what we wanted to. For me that would have been quite a few:

1) Getting JR Smith at the wrong time and selling him again after 2 sub-par games, just in time before his 2 great games.

2) Never having had Wade this season, especially the last 2 weeks.

3) Jumped on the OKC-Green-Westbrook bandwagon too late.

4) Having had Kidd too often this season

5) Once again being 4-5 million short in terms of RV.

But there is hope, I still have 6 trades left ;-)

What's your verdict so far?

Not drafting Spencer Hawes (my centers were Petro and Marc Gasol) at the beginning and stubbornly refused to buy him even though it was obvious he'd continue to produce after Brad Miller's 5 game suspension. At one point my teams were the only teams without Hawes of the entire game. (the max Hawes ownership was like 99.95% at the time) I kept shuffling cheapie centers around Hawes and fell behind in RV as well.

#1 - Shaq to Durant. Two trades, -60 points. And that's just the first night. Just crippling.

#2 - Dwight's first career DNP. I was one of the ones who thought he'd play and I waited on buying (typically awful) Dirk. Dirk had 59.5 and Howard ended up DNPing.

#3 - Having the funds to go Shaq to Gasol and not doing it. I kept thinking Paul would be back right away and that Shaq would finally turn it around (which he did - the night I finally sold him for Durant...)

#4 - Lee to Shaq. Whoops. At the time it seemed like I had to do this, the money really would have come in handy (if Paul had not gone down shortly after...)

#5 - Selling Stuckey on his "no way I'm playing" day.

Seriously, best of luck with the personal end of things.

1- Most recently going Murphy>Duncan just in time for his surprise DNP. Then not having the intestinal fortitude and trade surplus to go right back into Murphy who proceeded to post huge numbers for his next 5.

2- Trading Villanueva for Durant (because there was no way he wouldn't get suspended for clotheslining Verejao and choking Zydrunas) just in time for Durant's first quarter ankle injury. I then proceeded to watch Villanueva post distustingly huge numbers almost every game since.

3-Not going Kobe>Wade a few weeks back because Wade's numbers weren't that impressive several games prior and then watching Wade destroy the league with career highs in points and assists. My world rank plummeted to its lowest point since the first few weeks of the season.

4-Not planning ahead well enough to have Wade,Paul & Lebron. Figured I had to get Wade this week at all costs then realizing in order to do so I'd have to sacrifice Chris Paul who well you know the rest.

5-Buying Mareese Speights a few months back.

6-Due to a major trade deficit and lacking RV, thought picking up Jared Jeffries at 500k with G/F/C eligibility as a filler would solve my problems and make a little cash. 'nuff said

7-Not drafting Carlos Boozer

Thanks Ya I am competing with 53 mil right now LOL
I have to say I talked to guys that have gone through something like this and now that I am through it they were dead right. From the time when I did not want my family broke up and her Not to leave all the way to when she wanted to come back and I was over and could think and see clearly I did not want that mess back in my life. So Single and almost 40...never thought I woudl be here after three girls ages 6, 5, and 4. Amazing experience to the what I though was bad initially but it is a lot better for me now.

So really I can not sum this up to just one or half a dozen bad moves, but I did miss some major trains and mostly that was the dagger for me. I will play again next year if this game is still here. I noticed at times my schedule I got from Kafe was not accurate and it had OKC all messed up. And I also realized some of you guys are just to damn good at knowing when a player is going to be great in TSNP. I had times where I though why are they buying that guy....then his TSNP doubles in average. I am left with the decision to get on board just to sell again in 4-6 days. I have over 10 trades on three teams and 53 Mil...LOL Sick and trying to break the 1000 mark....maybe next year.

1) Not playing for 6 years, then expecting to remember all the strategies to finishing well. Ranked around 180 WWR right now, but could have been much higher with some patience and discipline.

2) Passing on obvious trains for various reasons - Sessions, Millsap, Nate Robinson.

3) Joining a league with Blooki in it...been in 2nd place the whole year - still 1200 pts behind.

That's another one of my mistakes, this was the year if any that I should have bought ten teams. Next year prepare to face The Great Wall of Urine. It seems each year it becomes increasingly harder to find a non-Blooki division.

Not taking Sessions earlier this year was also a mistake, as well as passing on Villanueva recently.

I'm afraid to see what your other 7 teams would be named
With so limited a base now it'll be impossible to stay away from "THE TWIN WALLS"

Not buying Wade recently is easily the biggest mistake I've made all season.

And FWIW, I'm 99% this is my last year playing TSN for a while. Just can't spare the time and energy required anymore for the full season.

In spite of the 10 spots in WWR I might pick up, if you don't play it will be a major loss for this community.

Ya I really wish I had jumped on that streak as he is real Hot right now bad move for those of us watching the numbers fly by. I also did not get back into Lee and I even had it marked to do so But I guess at this point I get doing other things and I watch the games with RIHC in mind now as that is my one shot at winning.

"Note to Self" for next season - buy no one with a last name starting with "B". Barnes, Billups and Brewer.

#12 - That would be a shame. Maybe go with just 1 team ;-)

#17 - That's a pretty big surprise - normally you are one of Lee's biggest fans I thought? Plus Nate.

One a different note, has anyone seen or heard of Florian this season? Is he playing?

Ole, Yes I am "playing" this year, thought a lack of time has definitely impaired my team performance (and apparently my performance on the boards as well). It's amazing how real life can destroy how well you do at this game. Real life is going well, but is dominated by my 14 month old twins, my 4 year old son and work. There isn't much time left over for planning TSN Hoops rotations.

I won't bother listing all my mistakes this year as the list would be rather long.

On one of my teams I sold a player and was going to decide who to pick up later.
The next morning when I looked at my team center I was reminded of my mistake.
200 points lost.

My biggest mistake was even trying to play TSN this year with all of the crap I had going on. Like CJ, I'm 40 now and newly single after a 15 year marriage.....although actually after all of the fallout being single is not so bad!

Mike D #4 - best LMAO post of the year. Of course it helps to be a recently divorced, bitter guy to appreciate that humor.

CJ - drop me a line and we can swap stories. It sounds like we have a lot in common.

Looks like I can add not doing Lebron --> Yao --> Lebron on the two teams I don't have him to the list. I was too afraid of Yao doing his 30 tsnp disappearing act and throwing away the trades. Oh well.

I can relate also. Although we were never married I'm also newly single after a rocky on/off 9 year relationship. It can be difficult and lonely at first but I feel like a massive weight has been lifted off me and I'm loving life now. I'd rather be alone than with someone for the wrong reasons.

Ha Ha Yes it is amazing how much I was fearful of being single but like you said what a massive weight that has been lifted.
Again No Wade is killing me..I did just buy Lee and Nate so I hope they can stay hot.

I just couldn't stop without making one more mess of my season - could have gone Billups/Barnes to Stuckey/Nate, but went Harris/Conley (strange feeling he might do something). Well, Conley is doing something - screwing up everything. Ugh
